Read the article below.

The mosquito is a tiny insect but it is perhaps the most dangerous. The most common of all diseases spread by the Anopheles mosquito and cause extreme flu-like symptoms. The aedes mosquito causes dengue fever. Symptoms of this fever include muscle ache and rashes.

Page 12: TAKING CHARGE OF YOUR HEALTH

Sometimes, if left untreated, dengue fever may even result in death. Other diseases spread by mosquitoes are yellow fever and encephalitis. As such, we must protect ourselves from being bitten by these awful insects

The traditionally-used mosquito repellent is the mosquito coil. It is cheap, but it gives off a lot of foul-smelling smoke that tends to stay on clothes and fabric. Prolonged usage of this coil can even be hazardous to health. As such, its usage has become less popular nowadays as many look for other less-smelly and less-dangerous ways to ward off mosquitoes.

Dressing is a sensible manner is perhaps an easier alternative. Therefore, when we are in an area where there are a lot of mosquitoes, we should wear long-sleeved shirts and tuck our trousers into our socks.

On top of that, windows should be fitted with screens and doors should be shut at all times, especially at night. Since mosquitoes are very small, they can go through tears and small holes. Therefore, nets and screens need to be checked often and repaired if necessary.

Finally, we can also use the good-old aerosol to repel mosquitoes. Similar to the mosquitoes coil, it is cheap and easy to use. The only downside is the smell of aerosol, which can sometimes be rather unpleasant.
