The Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation strives to offer varied and rigorous course offerings to its students. Following is a listing of some of the offerings available at each EVSC high school and in our Innovative Programs. Please contact individual high schools for further information and details about specific courses. Please note that course offerings may be dependent upon enrollment and teacher availability.

There are six regular high schools within the EVSC as well as a Virtual Academy for online learning. The EVSC also offers seven innovative school models from which students can select. These programs are open to any student in the area and bussing is available to and from the daily programs. Most are half-day programs where students spend part of their day at the innovative program school and part of their day at their home school. EVSC Course CatalogFollowing is a list of high school courses offered in the EVSC. If you have specific questions regarding any courses, you can contact your student’s school, or call our Office of Academic Affairs at 812-435-0914.

Legend

• Adv. = Advanced - Advanced courses are different from AP courses in that students are not tested at the completion of the course.

• AP = Advanced Placement - Advanced Placement courses are accelerated courses where students are tested at the completion of the course.

• CAP = College Achievement Program - This is the term that the University of Southern Indiana uses for dual credit courses that are taught through the university.

• CC = College Credit - The EVSC offers many courses in which students can earn college credit while also earning their high school credits.

• Dual Credit - This is also called College Credit.

• IB = International Baccalaureate - IB courses are open to all students as electives and for students wishing to earn an IB certificate or diploma.

• SL = Standard level

• HL = Higher level

Degree OptionsStudents have numerous diploma options and pathways from which to choose as designated by the Indiana Department of Education including Core 40 Diploma, Core 40 with Academic Honors Diploma, Core 40 with Technical Honors Diploma, and the International Baccalaureate Diploma. Additionally, Early College students can simultaneously earn a high school diploma and an Associate’s degree or 60 hours toward a Bachelor’s degree. Finally, Reitz High School offers the “General Education Core 30” through Ivy Tech, which entails the completion of 30 college course hours which can be transferred to any public university in the state of Indiana.

Indiana’s Core 40 is the academic foundation all students need to succeed in college, apprenticeship programs, military training and the workforce.
