Huashan 1914 Creative Park

Huashan 1914 Creative Park is a former wine factory from the early 20th century, which is

now turned into a center of art and fun. It was built in 1914 by the Japanese colonialists and

became one of the main sake distilleries in Taiwan, it slowly fell into decay after 1945. It was

rediscovered in late 1990s by alternative artists and after petitions and calls from various

communities, given to Taiwan Cultural-Creative Development Co. Ltd. in 2007, which

renovated it and established it as Taipei's prime venue for alternative art, performances and

workshops.

Tamsui Old Street

Small eats that naturally must not be missed

on Old Street includes “Ah Gei”, fish crisps,

fish balls, shrimp rolls and other seafood

products. Most shops have been around for

decades and are a gastronomic ground for

visitors to fill up their hungry stomachs.

The countless delicious small eats on the street contains a high degree of passion from the

local people of Tamsui. Those with smaller appetites yet don’t want to miss out on the food

should share with friends in order to sample all the delicious eats Old Street has to offer!

Tamsui Fisherman’s Wharf

On the endless list of all of Tamsui tourist

attractions, “Tamsui Fisherman’s Wharf” can

be said to be the most representative of it all.

Located on the right bank of where the Tamsui

River meets the sea, Fisherman’s Wharf offers

abundant resources and a magnificent view of

DatunMountains and Tamsui River.

No other spot is more greatly visited and admired than the reputed “Lover’s Bridge” that

crosses the harbor. Its elegant appearance and exceptional view of the sea is the most

beautiful landmark of Fisherman’s Wharf and the best place for couples to kick back and

relax. When the lights are lit at night, the magnificent cross-harbor bridge offers an exquisite

night view that serves as the perfect ending to an enriching trip.

The Red House

The Red House, a Western-style red-brick octagonal structure in Taipei's Ximen space built in

1908, is Taiwan's first public market and the most well preserved class III historical site.

Designed by Kondo Juro, a western-styled architect in the prefectural civil engineering office

at the time, the market entrance, incorporating both octagonal and cruciform shapes, was

paralleled by no other in the east and west. The market entrance also took on the ‘eight

trigrams (bagua) design considered boldly creative then. Octagon Building, Cruciform

Building, and the adjacent South-North Square are now collectively known as ‘The Red

House.’

The Red House has established itself as a major location for the development of cultural and

creative industry in the West End of Taipei City, given the 4 million-plus visits it has

registered for the more than 1,000 arts- and literature-themed events it hosted throughout

2009. In 2010, the Red House launched, in its Cruciform Building, the Cradle of Cultural

Creative Dreamer that is dedicated to incubating creative brands. Offering an exhibition

platform for the cultural and creative industry, the Center refreshes the history-rich Red

House look by connecting its creative spaces with the century-old Octagon Building.
