MEET ANNA...
“After working in hospitality for eight years, I got a Summer job in a nursery and I’ve never looked back. I love working in a nursery, being outdoors, and getting my hands dirty. I chose to study at TAFE Queensland South West because I wanted to make a change, get my qualification, and move into garden maintenance or a retail nursery full-time, or become self-employed.
Studying at TAFE for me means more practical learning in a hands-on environment. The teachers are approachable and friendly, we work in facilities that mimic a nursery in industry, and seeing the progress of our plants from week to week is great. If you’re thinking about studing, my advice is that if you’re passionate about something, then you should go for it.”

MEET CLAIRE...
“The pathways at TAFE Queensland South West made transitioning into tertiary education after school effortless, and also helped me gain the necessary skills I needed for a career in the beauty industry. For example, the Accelerate to Beauty Therapy program allowed me to study at TAFE one day a week while completing grade 12 which gave me a head start on my diploma.
My studies have given me confidence in pursuing my love for the beauty industry, and have opened up many great opportunities along the way. For anyone who has a passion for beauty and is eager to pursue it as a profession, I would definitely recommend TAFE Queensland South West”.

MEET MICHELLE...
“My study journey towards accounting officially began in 2007 with a traineeship, but hasn’t always been easy. However, thanks to my hard work and dedication, and support from TAFE Queensland South West, I have made great happen. After completing a number of TAFE courses, I enrolled in a Bachelor of Accounting at university which I plan to finish in 2017.
I believe greatly in the opportunity TAFE accredited education provides, and it has been my ideal pathway and great preparation for university. It has inspired me to be more than I was. If you’re thinking about studying, take the plunge. You will only regret what you did not do, and learn a great deal in the process.”

MEET DEMI...
“I never thought in a million years that I’d study at TAFE, but now I love it. I enrolled after a two year gap from school because I originally wanted to work on a cruise ship. This course has shown me so many new and exciting opportunities, that I didn’t realise existed, in the events and hospitality industry.
The hands-on, practical experience in fully equipped classrooms and the restaurant has been invaluable, and the teachers are one of the main reasons I kept coming back. I have also enjoyed every moment of the work experience which I wouldn’t have had the chance to do otherwise. For anyone else considering studying at TAFE Queensland South West, I say go for it.”

MEET KIRSTY...
“I chose to study early childhood education and care because I love to teach, help children, and watch them grow.
From a young age I’ve wanted to be a teacher, and my courses at TAFE Queensland South West have provided a great pathway to university and even give me up to two years credit towards my Bachelor degree.
Studying at TAFE has been challenging but exciting. The teachers are amazing, if I ever need help they are only a call away, and the facilities are good as they are set up like an actual child care centre. If you’re considering studying, go for it - just do it! Study hard, live your life, and you will achieve your dreams.”

MEET JORDAN...
“When I first entered the civil construction industry I knew nothing, I didn’t know what I was getting into or if it was even for me. But, in six months I completed my first course at TAFE Queensland South West and am now working in field that I really enjoy. I’ve learnt so much from TAFE, it’s flexible and you get lots of hands-on experience.
I would definitely recommend for anyone who’s still in school or not quite sure what they want to do, to consider TAFE Queensland. It was the right choice for me.”
