    Turbine blades are twisted blades assembled in the turbine rotor and they convert heat and speed energyreceived from steam into rotational motion. The blades should be corrosion and erosion resistant and highlydurable with high fatigue and fracture strength under high temperature and pressure operation.Special alloy steels like forged stainless are often used for the components. An aerodynamic blade shape isnecessary to optimize ef ciency.     The turbine casing is a pressure vessel that has a nozzle diaphragm and non-moving blades attached. It also houses and supports theturbine rotor. The high pressure steam turbine casing should be produced from materials that can withstand high pressure and temperaturewhilst preventing cracks and steam leakages. These demands ensure each casing is subjected to a series of complicated inspectionsand tests that include hydraulic testing.

    The main materials used for the casings are carbon castings (under 400C), carbon molybdenum cast steel and nickel molybdenum

    forged steel (400-500C), nickel chrome carbon molybdenum steel (500-540C) and stabilized stainless steel (540-570C).With such materials, it is essential to choose the correct insert grades and tools for rough machining.

    The turbine rotor is the rotating part of the engine that transforms the kinetic energy of wind to mechanical energy.In addition, the rotor as a large and high speed component should have suf cient strength to endure great stress levels.To this end, its assembly should undergo a balancing process in order to prevent vibration. Hence, 25CrMoVNb forged alloys are used as rotor materials and these are de ned as a high tensile strength material with a high temperaturestability and excellent thermal fatigue strength.

    This is especially the case with the gas turbine rotors that are fabricated with Discs, Torque Tubes and more than 20 components bolted to the spindle.

    The dovetail machining process is used to fasten the blades using a cubic machining process to prevent torque loss. This is the core technology

    for fabricating the rotor. In the past, the machining process has been practiced with high speed steel tooling, however TaeguTec has now replaced these toolsfor insert type carbide tools due to the technical limitations of high speed steel. This results in productivity being improved by 5 times.

    The turbine generator consists of a stator, rotor, protection frame and housing. The rotor axle is made of a one-piece cylindrical coupling ange.In order to put the eld coil into the cylindrical forging tool, the coil slot is machined in an axial direction. Since the rotor rotates at high-speed itrequires tensile strength and mechanical robustness and must have high heat-resistant properties in order to withstand high temperatures.Thus, forging tools with high rigidity are the most conventional for the rotor shaft.

    A heat exchanger is a device for cooling the high temperature steam extracted from the turbine. The seal between the tube and tubesheetdetermines the life of the heat exchanger. Precision machining where the tube is installed is vital. The heat exchanger requires corrosionfree materials such as welding roll steel, stainless steel, alloy steels like chrome molybdenum and titanium and forged steel for high pressure vessels.
