Is this Heaven?

Is this Heaven? No, it’s Tacoma. And Cheney Stadium is Tacoma, and has been for 50 years. There’s something magical that happens when a community gets a baseball stadium. That magic was real in 1960, and it’ll be just as real in 2011.

From Highway 16 and 19th street, the renovated Cheney Stadium will tower through the skyline, enticing fans that something different is going on. Something memorable. Something magical. A source of pride and tightly woven keepsakes that moms, dads, kids and friends enjoy for decades.

It goes well beyond balls and strikes, home runs and walks, and wins and losses. It’s something that you can’t always explain, but you always feel. It’s you. It’s Tacoma. It’s all of us.

It’s the indelible bond between the South Sound and the new Cheney Stadium, and we think you’ll love it.

And the benefits, from 365 days a year access, to a broad menu offering and all-inclusive choices, these are the premier entertainment venues in Tacoma. Baseball bungalows, perched above the field, available on a season and nightly basis.

Baseball Bungalows

We hesitate to even call these luxury suites. Because there are no suites, anywhere in the country, that speak to the region and the ballpark like the new suites at Cheney Stadium do. You could almost think of them as a room in a brand new custom home, mixing wood, ceiling beams that extend through the roof, glass and stylish furniture.

Limited to just 11 suites sold on contract basis, these premium areas feature views of the field, the surrounding landscape and city, and some even have a view of Mt. Rainier.

Getting to and from the club and your seats is even more special. The tunnel, where you access both, is the same tunnel the Rainiers use to travel from the clubhouse to the home team dugout.

There simply aren’t better seats, with better all-inclusive, than The Dugout Club. Space is limited. Value is high. And the amenities are among the best in the Northwest.

Dugout Club

Is it a wine cellar, carved out of stone, beneath the legendary Cheney Stadium seating bowl? Or is it an exclusive card room at the world’s best country clubs?

The Dugout Club, for the 156 folks who sit in the brand new front three rows – from dugout to dugout – have access to this club, featuring a full bar, and all-inclusive beer, wine, soda, water, snacks and buffet-style spread.

Summit Club

Perched two stories above the current roofline, with views to the field as well as a direct line of sight toward Mt. Rainier, the Summit Club is one area that just might take your breath away.

Formerly known as The Gold Club, this 4,000 square foot restaurant features a carving station, a full bar, outdoor stadium seating, as well as the typically included amenities like beer, wine, soda, water and snacks.

Besides the club itself, we’ll also feature Summit Club Express locations throughout the stadium concourse, making your access to your membership benefits even easier.

Using a reservation seating system, you can entertain clients, friends and family and purchase, at a special Summit Club member price, dinner from a buffet style menu that changes nightly.

The Summit Club, a whole new perspective on baseball.

pass by, making sure the peanuts are fresh and the programs free. You’ll still have the best seats in the house, with the same close angle and seating bowl pitch designed in 1960.

If it ain’t broken, don’t fix it. Okay. We won’t.

Reserved & Undisturbed

Some things are meant to be undisturbed. Perfect in their own right. Like the Reserved Seats at Cheney Stadium.

That’s why the reserved seating areas will remain much as you remember them. Ben Cheney will still be in his roost, watching everyone as they

BLEACHERSLEFT FIELD

Home Runs, Relief Pitchers, and your very own entrance.

The addition of Left Field Bleacher seats leaves us in a bit of a quandary. What to call it? Bleacher Creatures, The Rockpile, Lookout Landing; we have our work cut out for us in branding this completely new addition.

Either way, it is certainly going to be a great addition to Cheney. Perched above the new left field bullpens just beyond the new outfield fence, this area also boasts a brand new ticket sales area and entrance that will help alleviate some of those Friday Night entrance crowds and get you into the ballpark faster and easier than ever.

And talk about memories. The left field bleacher seats are going to be the place to be to catch those giant home-runs while taking in baseball at Cheney from an entirely new view. We’re pretty sure you’ll have to try this at least once this season.

BERMGRASS

Your backyard at our stadium

There’s something magical that happens when you walk into Cheney Stadium. It’s as if you have a summer home. The staff, players and fans—your second family. Watch a child as they enter into the park and hand their Dirt to the player sitting in the concourse for an autograph. Watch them walking around juggling cotton candy, a baseball glove (just in case), and the ball they just got at the Team Store.

On the grass berm, life is simple; so spread out. Pull out the blanket you brought to the ballgame, set it down on the perfectly cut grass, and enjoy nine innings or so with your family.

Welcome to your newly renovated summer home; complete with a backyard. Family is why we’re here, and it’s why you’re here. Welcome to the Grass Berm at Cheney Stadium.

Rainiers Team Shop

Bigger is better when it comes to retail space. Especially when we’re talking about Rainiers gear retail space. We’ve added Nike Gear to this year’s fashion lineup, but imagine a complete line of Rainiers Nike Tech Gear. Or an entire wall of Rainiers hats, more tees and sweatshirts, jackets, additional sizing options and cool new souvenirs.

Our goal is to paint the South Sound Rainiers red, navy and silver. So we’ve put in an entrance to the Team Store directly from the parking lot. The view from Highway 16 will no doubt entice you and every South Sound visitor into Cheney Stadium to take home a little piece of Heaven.

We already have the best fans in baseball, now we’ll have the best-dressed fans as well.

TEAMSTORE

Ticket Windows

No, you aren’t seeing double. There will be two box office locations at the renovated Cheney Stadium and twice as many service windows. At the Home Plate Gate you will find our main box office with 8 service windows instead of the 6 we have now.

There’s also the brand new Left Field Gate; fully equipped with a box office of its own. This entry point will provide four service windows to make sure you spend more time watching the ballgame and enjoying those new menu items just mentioned.

It’s your experience. Enjoy it.

Great Food

Less is more. Fewer lines means more time enjoying your ballpark frank and a cold beverage. Maybe you decided to step aside from tradition and go with BBQ brisket or pulled pork. Or how about a tossed garden salad? Maybe you would prefer grilled salmon, fish and chips, or a Ruben?

Your new Cheney Stadium will feature triple the number of concession areas designed with your experience in mind. Be sure to check out the new BBQ Pit for mouthwatering flavor and the Sweet Shop for those guilty pleasures. And those are only a few of the menu items we’ve decided on already.

Stay tuned.

CONCESSIONS

CONCOURSE

Improved Concourse

Your experience at Cheney Stadium doesn’t start once you sit down and the first pitch is thrown. It begins the moment you purchase your ticket and walk through the entrance.

So we’ve put a great deal of emphasis on improving your time spent away from your seats. You know, the time spent grabbing a hotdog, running to the restroom or heading to the Team Store for a souvenir. We’ve opened up the concourse and leveled it from first base to third base.

And to minimize your time away from those great seats, we’ve increased the points of sale at concessions stands to 60-plus and added five times as many places to use the restroom.

We realize that it’s the little things that will make a difference, and this will improve your experience each and every night.
