TGIF Meals Program Community contributes to kids’ Friday lunches Thank Goodness It’s Friday (TGIF) program offers a healthy lunch to all of the youngsters who participate in the all-day program of arts and crafts, sports, fitness, board/elec- tronic games and an op- portunity to “hang out” in a safe and supervised environment. During the 2016-17 school year, the program’s second year, 934 meals were served. The TGIF program was started by the Apache Junction Parks and Rec- reation and Library staffs to provide a safe and fun place for the youth in our community to be when they are out of school on Fridays. Since its inception, the program has steadily grown. TGIF anticipates a need for 1,080 lunches this academic year to feed all of the participants and their guests. This will in- sure that all the children have access to a nutritious lunch. As efforts continue to feed the children during the upcoming academ- ic year, the program is looking for support from the community and busi- nesses. Three levels of support give your group a chance to “Be a Hero” and help feed children in Apache Junction. Funds or products provided by your company will make the difference in the lives of at least 60 students. Not only will you be their Hero, your company will have many opportuni- ties to promote itself in the city and region. The Super Hero ($5,400) Provide lunches for 60 students for the entire program year.
