Togetstarted,inserttwoAAAbatteriesintothebatterycartridge.Alwaysinsertthe+sideofthebatteryfirst,beforesnappingthesidefirmlyintoplace.

Nowinsertthecartridge,withthetwocontactpointsleading,intobackofyourMicrocamera.Makesuretheredlatchlocksfirmlyoverthecartridge.

Forbatteries,werecommendEnergizerUltimateLithium.Thesegivethelongestbatterylife.IncoldweatheruseONLYthiskindofbattery.YoumayalsomakeuseofbrandnamerechargeableAAAbatteries.

Rechargeablebatteries,whilesavingmoney,willnotlastaslongespeciallyincoldweather.Andthereisachancethatyouwilllosethelastfileyouarerecordingduetoasuddendropinpower.

MicroMemoryCards

Intheslottotheleft,insertyourmicromemorycardwiththegoldleadsfacingup.

Besurethatthememorycardclicksintoplace.Youmayneedtouseyourfingernailtopushitinfarenoughtolock.

Topreventpossibleproblemswithyourcamera,useonlyClass6orabovemicromemorycards.

Bewareofcounterfeitcards.

WerecommendthatyouuseaClass6,8GBMicroMemorycardorlarger.Thesewillgiveyoulongerrecordingtimessothatyoucanberecordmoreactionwithouthavingtostopandloadanewcard.

4GB,8GB,16GB,32GB,64GBcardsareallcompatiblewithyourcamera.

RecordingVideo

Onceyourbatteriesandmemorycardhavebeeninserted,turnonyourMicrocamerabypushing(butnotholding)theSTART/STOPbutton.YouwillhearabeepsoundandseethegreenLED,quicklyfollowedbythered.

Tostopfilming,pushandholddowntheSTART/STOPbuttonagain.

YouwillhearadoublebeepsoundandtheredLEDwillturnoff.

Wheninvideomode,theTachyonMicrowillrecordsuperiorqualityVGAvideo.TheMicroHDwillrecordin720pHD.

Afteryouhavebeenrecordingfor30minutes,yourcamerawillpauseforfivesecondstosaveyourfiletoyourmemorycard.Butdontworryitwillautomaticallystartupagainafterthosefiveseconds.

Youwillbeabletoedityourvideowithmostcommoneditingprograms.Alwaystrytoeditandsaveyourvideosatthebestresolutionthatyoucan(butnotnecessarilyhigherthantheoriginalfile).Then,whenyouuploadtoavideosharingsite,yourvideoswilllooktheirbest.

A4GBMicroMemorycardwillholdjustoveronehourofvideo.Largercardswillholdmultiplesofthatamount.

VideoPhoto/UnlockLock

YoumaychangerecordingmodesfromVideotoPhoto(TimeLapse)byslidingtheswitchonthelefttothedesiredposition(cameraicon).

Tolockthecamerasothatitcannotshutoffduetoextremewaterpressure,orbytheuseraccidentallypressingthebutton,slidetherightswitchtotheLockposition(lockicon).SeeWaterproofingbelowformoredetails.

IfyouarehavingvideoplaybackproblemswhenconnectedtoyourTV,pleaseseebelowforhowtousetheUnlockLocktoswitchTVplaybackmodes.

TimeLapsePhotos

ToswitchfromVideomodetoTimeLapsePhotomode,stopanycurrentvideorecordingandthenslidetheleftswitchfromVideotoPhoto.

WhenyoupresstheSTART/STOPbuttonyouwillnowhearabeepsoundandseetheLEDflashingredandgreen.Youarenowcapturingone.JPGphotoeverytwoseconds.

Toreturntovideomode,pressandholdtheSTART/STOPbuttonuntilyouhearadoublebeepandtheLEDturnsoff.ThenslidetheswitchbacktoVideo.

SettingTime&Date(OnlyforMicrosdeliveredin2011)

Tosetyourcamera'stimeanddateyouwillneedtofollowthesesimplesteps:

First,recordashortvideowithyourcameraandthenturnitoff.Then,connectyourcameratoyourcomputerwithwiththeUSBcable.Turnonyourcameraandyouwillsoonseeapopupwindow.(TopRight).Noticethefile"DATETIME.bat"DoubleClick"DATETIME.bat"

Thiswillcreateafilecalled"DateTime.dat".

Now,pressandreleasethebuttononyourcamera.ThiswillsynctheDate/Timeofyourcomputerwithyourcamera.Youwillhearabeepwhenthisisdone.Theopenwindowwillnowclose.

Pressandholdthebuttontoturnoffyourcamera.NowunplugyourUSBcableanduseyourcameraasusual.Filesrecordedwillnowbemarkedwiththecorrectdateandtime.

Note:Ifyourbatteriesaretakenoutofyourcameraformorethanafewminutes,thissettingwillbelostandyouwillneedtorepeatit.

Mounting

TheTachyonMicroHDcomeswithonereversibleUniversalMountthatallowsyoutosecurelymountyourcameraonthetoporoneithersideofyourhelmet.

YouMicroHDwilleasilysnapinandoutoftheUniversalMount,whichitselfwilleasilyslipoverthestrapofyourgoggles,orontothetoporeithersideofyourhelmet.

Wealsorecommend,forsecureandeasymounting,3MDualLockFasteningStrips.Youwillgetone6inchstripinyourbox.ThesearesimilartoVelcrobutmuchstronger.

Whenfilminginextremesituations,itisimportanttofurthertetheryourcameratothemountthatyouareusing.Thiswillensurethatyourcameraisnotlostinwater,snow,orruggedterrainwhenyoufallorhityourcamera.Thereardoorofyourcameraisdesignedtoallowfishinglinetobepassedthroughthetop,nearthelatch,sowhenthedoorislockedshutyourcamerawillbesecurelyattachedtowhateveryoutieitto.

Forwaterproofingreasons,themicrophoneoftheTachyonMicroHDissealedinsidethecase.Thisensuresthatyourcamerawillfunctionwellinextremesituations.Butyoursoundrecordingqualitywillbequiteabitlowerthanonacamerathatisnotdesignedtobewaterproof.

ShockResistance

Tachyon,Inc.haspatentedashockresistancesystemthatkeepsyourbatteriesinplaceandconnectedineventofseverejarring.Disconnectedbatterieswouldresultintheshutdownofthecameraandthelossorcorruptionofyourvideofiles.

Besurethatyourbatteriesareinsertedcorrectlyintotheshockproofbatterycartridge,andthatyourcartridgeisinsertedcorrectlyintothecamera,sothattheredlatchsnapssecurelyoverthebackofthecartridge.

Foradditionalshockresistance,theMicrohasalockingswitchtotherightoftheredlatch.Whenyouswitchittotheleft,thecartridgewillbelockedintoyourcameraandyouwillbeunabletoremoveitevenwhenyoudepresstheredlatch.

Toremoveyourbatterycartridge,youmustmovethelockingswitchbacktotheright,andthendepresstheredlatch.

Waterproofing&DiveLock

TheTachyonMicroHDmakesuseofitspatentedDiveLockfeaturetoworkunderwatertoadepthof100feet(30Meters).

Toensurewaterproofing,besuretokeeptherubbersealaroundthereardoorcleanandthedoorclosedproperly.

TheDiveLockpreventswaterpressurefromshuttingoffyourcamerainthedeepwater.LockyourcamerabyopeningthebackdoorandslidingthelockingswitchtotheRight.Closeandlockthedoorandthenstartrecordingasnormal.You(andhighwaterpressure)willnowbeunabletostoptherecording.

Tostoprecording,youmustsurface,dryyourcamera,openthedoor,slidetheswitchbacktotheleft,andthenpushtheON/OFFbuttonuntilthecamerastops.

ConnectingtoYourComputer

TheTachyonMicroHDcomeswithaUSBcable.

Toopenyourfilesfromyourcamera,firstsettheswitchesonthebackofyourcameratoPhotoandLock.

ThenplugthesmallendintothejackinsidethebackdoorofyourcameraandthelargeendintoyourcomputersUSBport.(ThejackonyourcameraisusedforboththeTVandtheUSBcables).

Nowturnonyourcamera.Youshouldhearabeepandseeawindowpoppingupaskingyoutoviewyourfiles.

Wesuggestthatyousaveyourfilestoyourcomputerassoonaspossibleafterrecording.

ButifyourcomputerisabletoreadMicroMemorycards,wehighlyrecommendremovingthecardfromyourTachyonMicroHD,insertingitintoitsadaptor,andthenpluggingitintoyourcomputer.Thenyouwillbeabletomoveyourfilesfromyourcameraontoyourcomputer.

Thiswillnotonlysavethebatteriesofyourcameras,butvideofileswatcheddirectlyfromthememorycardmaynotrunassmoothlyasfilesthathavebeencopiedtoyourcomputersharddrive.

ManagingFiles

WhenyourMicroUSBcableormemorycardisinsertedintoyouradaptor/cardreader/computer,youshouldseethefollowinginyourfilemanager.
