Section 2: Design Decisions
Nature of Decisions taken The decisions that needed to be taken while creating the OER were-
1. Content Decisions 2. Pedagogic Decisions 3. Technology Decisions
Content Decisions We needed to decide the topic on which video is to be prepared:
a. GSM basic architecture for mobile communication. b. How and which type of assignments can be prepared.
Pedagogic Decisions
This needed more thinking and inputs as how can we deliver the lecture content in digital form and how well can we frame assignments and evaluate understanding of user/student1. Cognitive Levels Questions: framing mostly Recall type questions and few to understand and
apply type questions2. Assessment Strategies – Multiple choice questions, assignments and their scores
Technology Decisions major technology decisions taken were which software we can use to record video and which type of assessment technique will be more effetive:
a. Screen cast tool used as Screen-o-matic for explaining the course contents.b. Multiple Choice Questions and Assignment were provided to judge the understanding
of concepts and evaluation

How to use this OER
For using this OER, please ensure that you have admin permission in your MOODLE course (needed for importing activities).
Step 1: Download the set of 3 lessons (OER) from www.et.iitb.ac.in/~jkmadathil/et4et/oer.html Step 2: Go to the MOODLE course where you want to import this lesson. In the Administration section click “Restore”
Section 4: Evaluating Effectiveness of OER
The OER effectiveness can be assessed at two levels:
1. At the student level 2. At the consumer level
Effectiveness at the student level Effectiveness at the student level involves metrics related to student access of the resource and student learning.
The In-Class activities can be used to evaluate effectiveness, with the report showing the total number of students who accessed the videos (along with time) and their marks (based on their answers to MCQs).
Effectiveness at consumer level OER consumers are typically teachers who want their students to learn new concepts using Learning by Doing. Linking a survey on three main constructs – Ease of Use, Concept Coverage and Concept Complexity, can help in identifying the effectiveness of this OER at consumer level. This has to be done as a follow-up activity.
Implementing Survey Thus every user who downloads this resource will be asked their email address and as a follow up the survey will be sending to their email address.
