Thedistinguishingfactorbetweenawinnerandaloserisattitude.Moreopportunitieshavebeenlost,withheld,andforfeitedduetoattitudethanfromanyothercause.Attitudeisamorepowerfuldistinctioninlifethanbeauty,
power,wealth,title,orsocialstatus.

Attitudeisanaturalproductoftheintegrationofself-worth,self-concept,
self-esteem,andsenseofvalueorsignificance.Inessence,yourattitudeisthemanifestationofwhoyouthinkyouare.

Beinginthepositionofafollowerdoesn’tnegateyourinherentleadershippotential.

Leadershipisnotaneliteclubforacertainfew.Itisthetrueessenceofallhumanbeings.Leadershipisinherentinournatureandisfundamentaltoour
origins,ourhumanmakeup,andourdestiny.

Trueleadershipisanattitudethatnaturallyinspiresandmotivatesothers,anditcomesfromaninternalizeddiscoveryaboutyourself.Youcannot“learn”anattitude.Ifsomeonelearnsanattitude,it’scalledconditioningormeremental
assent.That’snotleadership.

Anattitudeisaperspective,amotivation,oradesirethatcomesfromwithinandisnotbasedonatemporaryexternalconsequence.Itissomethingdeeply
personalandinternalthatinfluencesandtransformsyourthinking.

Thekeytothespiritofleadershipisattituderatherthanaptitude.

Mostofusarenotleaderstodaybecause,inourhearts,wedon’tbelievethatiswhoweare.

Becausetrueleadersdiscoverandunderstandwhotheyareandwhattheirpurposeis,theyinfluencetheir
environmentsmorethantheirenvironmentsinfluencethem.

Trueleadersstrivetoovercomecrisesandbecomecreativeindifficulty.

Trueleadershippassionisthediscoveryofabelief,areason,anidea,aconviction,oracause—notjusttolivefor,butalso
todiefor—thatfocusesonbenefitingmankindasawhole.

Trueleadersarethosewhoeffectivelyexpresstheirinnerpassion,whichfindsacommonresponseintheheartsofothers.Itispassionthatattractspeopletothe
leaderwho,inturn,motivatesthemtotakeaction.

Thegreatestleadershipseemstosurfaceduringtimesofpersonal,social,economic,political,andspiritualconflict.

Whileleadershavefollowers,havingfollowersisnotaprerequisiteforbeingaleader.Thedemandsofleadershipmayrequirethatyoustandaloneintheface
ofconflict,publicopinion,orcrisis.

Whenyouhaveapurposeandapassion,youmustactonit,evenifyou’retheonlyonewhobelievesinitatthetime.

Trueleadersdiscoverkeystothenatureofleadershipfromtheexamplesofothers,buttheynevertrytobecomethoseotherleaders.Theymustusetheir

Trueleadershipisfirstconcernedwithwhoyouare,asopposedtowhatyoudo.Leadershipactionflowsnaturallyfromapersonalleadershiprevelation.

Theleadershipspiritistheinherentleadershipcapacityandpotentialthatistheessentialnatureofhumanbeings.Thespiritofleadershipisthemind-setorattitudesthataccompanyaleadershipspiritandallowdormantleadership
potentialtobefullymanifestedandmaximized.

Theinherentcapacityofthehumanspirittolead,manage,anddominatewasplacedthereatthepointofcreationandmadenecessarybythepurposeand
assignmentforwhichmankindwascreated.

Theleadershipspiritistheessenceofthehumanspirit.Mandoesn’thaveaspirit;manisaspirit,andthatspiritisan
expressionofGod’sSpirit.

Whenwebecomeourtrueselves,wewillnaturallybeleaders.

Ifwewerecreatedtobeleaders,thenwemustallpossessthecapacity,inherentdesire,naturaltalents,potential,and
abilitiesthatcorrespondtobeingaleader.Youcannotdemandfromaproduct
whatitdoesnotpossess.

TheCreatorisaleader-maker.BeingdesignedintheimageandlikenessofGodmeansthatwewereordainedbyHimtobeleaders.God’srequirementthatwehavedominionisevidencethattheabilitytoleadisinherentineveryhuman
spirit.

Toexerciseleadership,youmustbelievethatyouareinherentlyaleader.
~~~
Donotseekgreatness,butseektoserveotherswithyourgifttothemaximumextentthatyoucan,andyouwillbecomeasought-afterperson.Inessence,Jesusdefinedtrueleadershipasbecomingapersonwhoisvaluabletoothersratherthanapersonofjustpositionorfame.

Theshortestdistancetoleadershipisservice.Genuineleadershipisnotmeasuredbyhowmanypeopleserveyou,butbyhowmanypeopleyouserve.
Thegreateryourservice,thegreateryourvaluetoothers,andthegreateryourleadership.

Lovingmoneyattheexpenseofthedignity,value,andwelfareofothersisanabuseofour“powertogetwealth”(Deuteronomy8:18).

Trueleadersarehonest.Thereisnomanipulationordeceptionintheirdealingswithothersortheirpursuitoftheirvisions.Trueleaderspossesscandoranda
senseof
self.Theyaretruetothemselvesfirstandthentoothers.

Themostimportantpursuitinlifeisthepursuitoftruth.
~~~
TrueleadersareborninthepresenceoftheirCreatorbecausethatiswheretheydiscoverthetruthaboutthemselves.Todiscoverthetruthaboutyourabilityanddestiny,youmustrediscoverthevalueofarelationshipwithyourSource.

RediscoveringGodasyourSourcewillnaturallyleadyoutotherevelationthatallhumansarecreatedinHisimageandlikeness,andthereforepossess
thesamevalue,worth,andesteemthatyoudo.

Trueleadersrespectandhonorauthoritybutarecomfortableinitspresence.
~~~
Youhavetochoosetofulfillyourleadershipnature.Havingtheleadershipspiritwithoutdevelopingtheattitudesandqualitiesofleadershipislikehavingapowerfulautomobilewithoutacquiringtheknowledgeorabilitytodriveit.

Ourattitudescannotstopourfeelings,buttheycanpreventourfeelingsfromstoppingus.
~~~
Apoorself-imageorself-conceptwillalwaysresultinalowvaluationofhumanityandwillbecomethesourceofabuse,corruption,oppression,andthe
needtodominateandcontrolothers.

Nothingismoredangerousthanpowerinthehandsofonewhosuffers
fromasenseofmentalinferiority.Theformulaforoppressionispowerwithoutmentalsoundness.

Ifyouloveyourselfinthetruesense,you’llalwaysuseyourpowertohelpotherpeopleratherthantoharmthem.Howyouseeyourselfishowyouwillsee
everyoneelseyourelateto.Youcannotloveanyonebeyondyourloveforyourself.

Theessenceofleadershipisthatyougiveotherpeoplevalue.Inotherwords,yougivethemsomethingvaluabletocontributetoandbecomeinvolvedin.True
leadershipprovidespeopleacause,areasonforliving,andasenseofsignificancethatgivesmeaningtotheirlivessothatthey
feelnecessaryandpurposeful.

Whatyoubelieveinyourheartisessential,vital,crucialtoyourlife.Youliveoutof
yourheart.Youseethroughyourheart.Youinterpretthroughyourheart.Youjudgethroughyourheart.Youleadoutofyourheart.

Ifyoudonoteraseorreplacethe“corrupt”informationaboutleadershipyouhavetakenintothe“harddrive”ofyourheart,thenyourleadershipwillbe
distorted.Trueleadershipdemandsaconstantmonitoringofwhatgoesintoyourheart.

Trueleadershipismanifestedwhenoneindividualuseshisorherflametolightthelivesofmanyandhelpthemdiscoverthereservoirofhiddenoilintheir
lamps.

Yourattitudeismorepowerfulthanyourreputation.

self-imageandself-esteem.
