President’s Message
Dear Guild;
As my term draws to a close, I find myself reflecting on the past two years
with many emotions. I have learned a great deal about myself as both a person and as a leader. I now know that I am very, very bad at writing these letters for the newsletter. I have no idea why; I just seem to struggle with it.
I also know now that I remember absolutely none of the details of conversations I’ve had with people on guild night. I think it is similar to
how a bride cannot recall who she spoke with at her wedding reception. So much happening!
While there have certainly been challenges, the overall experience has been exciting and fulfilling. I cannot express how devastated I was at the loss of
our raffle quilt, how frustrated I was with leadership vacancies, and how saddened I was by interpersonal conflicts. All of that aside though, the
delight that I found in seeing children and young adults share their creations, the making of new friends, and the beauty and creative joy that my fellow guild members have shared have made this a truly meaningful
experience for me.
I am grateful for having been given the opportunity to serve such a wonderful organization, and humbled by those who put forth so much effort
and commitment to serve the mission of the Capital Quilters Guild. I give my best possible wishes to Darlene Silverman as she takes the reins in her very capable hands!
Me ka pono (respectfully),
Lanakila [email protected]
Secret Sew-ciety Swappers:
We will reveal and swap our totes
at the June Meeting. Place your unwrapped tote and your wrapped
“extras” on the table at the back of the room by the place card with your
name as maker and your partner’s name as recipient.
If you can’t make the meeting. Make arrangements to have your tote
here and have someone pick up the tote made for you. We will also have a special drawing for all swap participants!

RAFFLE QUILT Holiday Boutique
Do you create works of art that you love and wish to donate to the guild
for a holiday boutique silent auction? Perhaps you make boiled wool hats
or hand bags. Maybe you make potpourri pouches or crochet necklaces.
Perhaps a quilted scrap book cover, zen tangle picture or a journal cover is
your passion. How about some of those unique pincushions we just saw
from the swap. Maybe a set of seasonal miniature quilts or placemats
makes you go to your happy place.
What ever your artistic hand made items may be, please think of donating
one or more to our November meeting Holiday boutique. Find the perfect
item for those that are hard to buy for.
Items should be new and valued around $15 or higher.
Let's see how creative we are!
