Hi, my name is Kayla; I’m sixteen years old I

used to live in New York Mills, NY. My mother got a

new job in Laurinburg, NC. This is where my high

school life, start over.

As I walk down the hall with my brother,

JaLonte, people staring at us like we’re different.

“JaLonte, why they staring at us like that” I

asked.

“Like what?”

“Like that, JaLonte.” As I pointed at the people.

A girl name that’s wearing balling shorts and a tank

walked up to us,

“Hi, my name is India” she introduced in a

southern accent. JaLonte pushed me out the way,

“Hey ma name is JaLonte” he said smiling.

“Hey, who’s the girl” she asked

“Oh, her, that’s my sister Kayla”

“Hey Kayla”

“Hey India” I responded. The bell rings, I try to

find my way through the hall, as I see a girl, she

bumps into me and walk away and laugh.

“Let me help you” I hear a soothing deep voice.

“My name is Quise” he says.

“Um, hey” I responded shyly.

He laughed “Are you okay?”

“Sure, just need help finding my class”

“Who you’re looking for?”

“Mrs. Johnson, English”

“Oh, she right next door to the right”

“Thank you”

“Your welcome” he smiled.

I walked away, my heart just pounding hard.

“9105555555” he yelled.

I’m still walking trying to avoid him the best

way I can, I can’t stop blushing.

I walk into my new classroom, and everybody’s

staring at me.

“Everybody this is Kayla, she’s our new student”

the teacher announced, I take my seat beside a girl

name Jaiden, she looked friendly.

“Hi, my name is Jaiden” she said in a southern

accent.

“Hey, Jaiden”

“Where you from”

“New York”

“Cool, a city girl”

“Yea, you can say that”

“I already said it” she laughed. Wow, I thought

she’s outgoing. I do my work quietly, then a piece of

paper fly by me. It was Quise, he gave me the ‘head

nod’, I wave back then Jaiden turns around and look

at him angrily.

“Hey Kayla, Quise is mines. If he’s trying to get

with you, please tell me.”

“Oh ok I didn’t know that” I said a little nervous.

“Now you know” Jaiden said as she gives me an

evil look.

“Alright”

The bell rings, I rush out of class to meet

JaLonte, before I get out the door Quise grabbed my

arm.

“Hey, little lady. Eat lunch with me today”

“Okay, I’ll try”. I walked out weak kneed as

ever.

I went into the cafeteria Quise could be no where

to be found, wow this guy stood me up I thought.

Then he came up and said here I am, I would never

leave a pretty girl like you alone. I blushed and he

gave me a kiss on my cheek and told me to be quiet

and don’t tell Jaiden but Jaiden give me a wink from

the corner and disappeared.
