What special thing is on the mercy seat? (Two solid gold cherubim face each other.) 5. Why is the mercy seat so special? (It is the place where the glory of God rests.) 6. THE TABERNACLE – LESSON #5“The Most Holy Place”
Hebrews 9:24 – “For Christ is not entered into the holy places made with hands . . . but into Heaven. . . to appear in the presence of God for us.”(The underlined portion of the verse indicates what the younger children should memorize.)
T USE the visual and let the children read the verse withyou.
T READ the verse from your Bible while holding thevisual so the children can follow along.
T DO MOTIONS together with the children while youEXPLAIN the verse as follows:
Hebrews 9:24(Hold hands as an open Bible.)
“For Christ is not entered into the holyplaces made with hands . . .”
(Touch the tip of the middle finger of your dominant hand into the center ofthe palm of your non-dominant hand. Then touch the tip of the middle fingerof your non-dominant hand into thepalm of your dominant hand. Shakehead “no.” Put hands in front of youand wiggle fingers.)
“but into Heaven . . .”(Raise arms, palms facing upward.)
“to appear in the presence of God forus.”
(Point up, then to yourself.)
Hebrews 9:24(Hold hands as an open Bible.)
– This is the address (where the verse is located inthe Bible). This verse is found in the book ofHebrews, chapter 9, verse 24.
– We’ve been learning about the Tabernacle. Weknow this is where the priest went to talk to Godfor the people.
– When Jesus rose from the dead, He went to anotherholy place that wasn’t made by the hands of menlike the Tabernacle was.
– The Tabernacle was a figure, or a picture, of theplace He was going. Where did He go?
– He went to Heaven. Why?
– Jesus went to Heaven where He talks to God forus. We don’t have to go to a priest when we wantto talk to God anymore. We can just pray and talkto Jesus, and He will talk to God for us.
– The book of Hebrews, chapter 9, verse 24.
T DRILL the verse with the activity listed on the Tabernacle #5 Agenda.
T TEST the children for their understanding of the verse.
What “holy place”did Jesus go to after He rose from the dead? What does Jesus do for us in Heaven?CHILD EVANGELISM FELLOWSHIP OF EASTERN PA, INC. g P.O. BOX 4375 g HARRISBURG, PA 17111-0375

GO AND TELL BOX Week #19 – How Can We Help the Luttmanns?
(Suggested item to put in the “Go and Tell” Box – picture of sneaker.)
What do you think this sneaker has to do with going and telling?(Let the children share their ideas.)
Listen as we talk about what you and I can do to help ourmissionaries.
HOW CAN WE HELP THE LUTTMANS? (Show their picture and HOW wordstrip.)
PRAY – (Use PRAY wordstrip.) Do you continue to use your VIP Prayer Wheel/PrayerBookmark to pray for the Luttmans (show one)? This week, you can use one of your QuietTimes to pray for Mr. Tom and his family.
GIVE – (Use GIVE wordstrip.) God tells us to give joyfully and generously. Maybe youhave money you received as an allowance or that you have saved or received as a gift thatyou can share with our missionaries. Perhaps you do not have any money at all. Maybe youcould do some chores to earn some to give to our missionaries. Would you be willing to givepart of what you have or earn to help to our missionaries?
WRITE – (Use WRITE wordstrip.) Missionaries like to receive letters. You can write thema letter and tell them about yourself. You can ask questions about them and what they do.Will you write them? Perhaps you could send them an e-mail. (See general informationsheet on Missionaries we Support.)
GO – (Use GO wordstrip.) This sneaker has a heart symbol on the side. That reminds methat God wants you and me to have a heart that cares about others who need to know aboutJesus. Will you tell a playmate or someone else about the Lord Jesus? If someday God wereto ask you to go to a faraway place to serve Him, would you be willing to go? If so, will youtell Him that today? (Give time for silent prayer before praying for the requests.)
LET’S PRAY FOR OUR MISSIONARIES.
THANK God for His Son, Jesus, who died on the cross to give us forgiveness of sin. ThankHim for Mr. Tom’s willingness to GO tell others.
PRAY and ask God to help our missionary, Mr. Tom, share with children about God’s love and ask Him also to help you be a missionary by telling a friend about Jesus.
