Castle will speak on behalf of the importance of imaginative rebellion against such scrutiny. Castle’s scholarly interests include 18th-century British fiction, the Gothic novel, Jane Austen, the First World War, English art and culture of the 1920s and 1930s. An author of eight books, including “Clarissa’s Cipher,” “Masquerade and Civilization” and, most recently, “The Professor and Other Writings.” She is the editor of the award-winning collection, “The Literature of Lesbianism: A Historical Anthology from Ariosto to Stonewall.” Castle also writes regularly for London Review of Books, the Atlantic and the New Republic. Get Updates At Yankton Online (www.yankton.net) From P&D Staff Reports Quick thinking by a Yankton woman stopped a con artist from tricking a local couple out of $2,800. The Yankton Police Department received a report Wednesday of a suspicious Western Union money transfer from an employee at Yankton’s Kmart. An elderly couple from Bloomfield, Neb., was contacted by a male claiming to be there grand- son who stated he was at a friend's wedding in Lincoln, Neb., and had been charged with driving under the influence. The man stated that one of his friends was from Spain and that he needed his grandpar- ents to send $2800 to the friend's attorney in Spain. The elderly male came to Yankton and sent the money from Kmart. Upon hearing about the situa- tion, Police Chief Brian Paulsen con- tacted the elderly male’s wife, informed her that it may be a scam and to try to contact her grandson by phone. The female stated the grandson had told her that she could not contact him and that he would call her back. However, the elderly female made contact with her grandson, who said he had no knowledge of the incident. The elderly male was then able to go back to Kmart and stop the money transfer.
