Book Report – Due May 28th – Please choose one of the following:Paper:
Think about a character from the book you read. List ten items that the character might take with them to a deserted island. Then
explain why, based on information in the novel, the character would choose those articles and what they reveal about him or her.
2 pages, double spaced or more.
Rubric: Voice – 25pts – Did you represent the character well?
Ideas – 12pts – Do you convey the main thoughts of the book?
Conventions – 12pts – Did you follow common writing conventions, especially the examples we covered on
grammar days.
Project:
Make a travel brochure advertising the setting of the story.
Rubric: Organization– 25pts – Does it show the essence of the story in a way that is easily understood? At least an 8 x 11
inch size piece of paper, folded twice, with all blocks filled with information.
Presentation – 12pts – Is it pretty? Clean, professional looking without eraser marks (typed or nicely
handwritten). Use the entire paper, front and back; there should be no large empty spaces. Use
mages/graphics, statistics, facts, etc.
Citation – 12 pts – Did you cite your sources on any wording or photos that are not your own?
3. Multiple Short Reviews:
Write five half-page summaries of the section of the book you just finished. Each summary should be two weeks apart, beginning
November 6th.
Rubric: Requirement – 12pts – Do you have 5 entries spaced two weeks apart?
Ideas – 12 pts -- Do you include specific events from the story?Voice – 12 pts. – Do you create the mood of the story in your writing?
Conventions – 12pts -- Did you follow common writing conventions, especially the examples we covered on grammar days.
4. Creative: Be Creative!#1: I must be able to understand that you’ve read the book. It is your job to prove it, and a
review is not creative.
