Move-in day instructions
Coming from the South
Head west on Route V from Business 71/Main Street until you reach Icon Road. Head North on Icon Road until you reach directional signage that will guide you to your housing facility.
Coming from the North
Head south on Icon Road until you reach College Avenue. Head east on College Avenue until you reach directional signage that will guide you to your housing facility.
Drop and Go Zones They are to be used for unloading student belongings. Please unload all items from your vehicle(s) onto the curb while in the zone, and then move your vehicle to an appropriate parking spot. ’Cat Crew members will be available to assist with unloading of materials.
Please exit campus through Lot 42, Northwest Drive, 7th Street, and 9th Street
After you have unloaded and you leave campus, please park in Lot 62, 63, 1, 20, 41, or 38 upon your return. This will assist with traffic flow and allow others ample space to move in.

Move-in DayInclement Weather Severe Weather Threat:Whenever lightning comes within 8 miles of Northwest Missouri State University:
1. All move-in day activities will be suspended for minimum of 30 minutes2. Northwest will communicate the suspension of move-in day activities
via the following mediums:• Bearcat Alert• Northwest Social Media• Res Life Social Media
3. Students and parents currently on-campus will shelter in their assigned building, or the nearest available University building
4. All incoming students and parents will be instructed to delay their arrival in accordance with this procedure and current safety best practices
5. Move-in day activities will resume upon the direction of University Police or the University’s Emergency Management Coordinator

• The University directive is to suspend or terminate any outdoor activity when approaching lightning comes within 8 miles of the event (flash-to-bang time of 40 seconds or less) to account for evacuation times.
• The National Severe Storms laboratory (NSSL) and the NCAA recommend that all individuals should be out of outdoor event sites and in appropriate shelter PRIOR to lightning coming within 6 miles of the event (flash-to-bang time of 30 seconds or less).
• The notification distance may be increased depending on the time of day and the speed of approaching weather conditions.
• The duration of the evacuation shall not be less than 30 minutes after the last lightning occurrence within 6 miles (flash-to-bang time of 30 seconds or less).
• Reentry into the evacuated area will begin when it is declared safe by University Police or the University’s Emergency Management Coordinator.
