THE TREATY OF VERSAILLES? The Treaty of Versailles was a treaty to make peace between the five
nations, France, Germany, Britain, Austria-Hungary and the United States after World War I
WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF THE TREATY OF VERSAILLES?
The treaty of Versailles basically forced Germany to accept the responsibility of causing the war. They were forced to make reparations to the price of 32 billion dollars which is roughly 393 billion dollars today. Germany’s economy was already in complete disarray. The treaty also forced Germany to surrender control of their colonies. Initially at first Germany didn’t want to sign the treaty but they were left with no other choice, So, they eventually signed it under a new government.

The Sevres peace treaty imposed by the Allies on the Ottoman Empire after World War I had virtually destroyed Turkey as a national state. The treaty was not recognized by the nationalist government under Mustafa Kemal Pasha.
