The members of the SVDP La Purisima Conference, would like to thank everyone for the continuous support. Last year 2015, we were able to assist almost 300 people. For a total of $30,541.00. With your generous donations we helped with clothing, food, rent and utili-ties. Keeping families clothed, warm, fed, and housed, is a gift from all who have donated. We thank you in advance for donating to this won-derful Ministry. God Bless! We are now going to begin our Toy drive for our Christmas H.O.P.E. (Helping Others Provide Enough) store. Last year we had 97 families, and over 250 children, that re-ceived 3 toys each. It was such a success. The parents were allowed to select 3 gifts per child and wrap them before leaving. These gifts are at NO COST to the parents. If you wish to donate a gift, you may de-liver them to the Pastoral Office, or to the pre-school.

The AMS provides the same pastoral care and services as any other Catholic diocese, to Catholics serving in the United States Armed Forces, enrolled in U.S. Military Academies, undergoing treatment at any of the 153 Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Centers in the U.S., Puerto Rico and Guam, working in civilian jobs for the federal government beyond U.S. borders, and the families of these populations.

Turkey Call

La Purisima parishioners are being asked to donate and prepare two turkeys for the Thanksgiving meal served at our parish hall November 24.

The turkeys must be fully cooked and delivered to the parish hall by 10 am.

She presently heads up Birth Choice, a pro-life, non-profit organization that provides resources and counseling for women and man facing unplanned pregnancy. All women are cordially invited.

During this period the parish has received $7,849 in restricted donations and $8,232 in building and mainte-nance donations.

In this first quarter of the fiscal year the parish has paid $44,622 in ministry and clerical wages, $8,645 in health care benefits, $6,710 in property insurance, and $7.913 in liability insurance.

The Parish profited $12,004 from the Fiesta which will used to pay the school subsidy.

CHURCH VESTIBULES UPDATE!

All of the vestibules of the church were renovated in

the past few months. The cabinets and counter tops were replaced, all vestibules have been painted, along with the baptistery and cry room, the electrical fixtures have been replaced along with modifying the storage space in the front vestibule. All that is left is installing the brochure/pamphlet racks. The total cost of the ren-ovations to date is $32,442.21.

RECEPCIÓN DE ACCIÓN DE GRACIAS PARA NUESTROS VOLUNTARIOS

mente invitados a una recepción de Acción de Gracias. Por favor acepten esta invitación como símbolo

de nuestra gratitud y apreciación.

TRADICIONES DE NUESTRA FE

No todas las patronas latinoamericanas tienen origines en-tre milagros y visiones. Algunas nacen de la devoción mariana del Pueblo de Dios. Tal es el caso con la Virgen de los Treinta y Tres. En 1962, el Papa Juan XXIII la nombró Patrona de Uru-guay y así confirmó oficialmente lo que el Pueblo de Dios ya había hecho desde el 1825. Esta pequeña imagen de 36 centí-metros lleva sobre su cabeza una corona desproporcionadamen-te grande, regalo de un general militar y símbolo de la devoción del pueblo. También lleva su curioso nombre en honor a su papel en la Independencia de Uruguay antiguamente llamada la Provincia Oriental. Los treinta y tres orientales que comandaron la guerra de liberación encomendaron sus esfuerzos delante esta imagen de origen jesuita. El siglo pasado el pueblo uruguayo comenzó ha patrocinar peregrinajes en honor de su patrona. Eventualmente en 1945 el obispo tuvo la gran idea de llevar la imagen en peregrinación al pueblo. Desde entonces se ha ido desarrollando esta bella costumbre que lleva María al Pueblo cada segundo domingo de noviembre entre homenajes de caba-lladas, desfiles y cantos. —Fray Gilberto Cavazos-Glz, OFM, Copyright © J.
