We are given many opportunities to serve our God and live our faith. Our parish is currently seeking individuals to serve as Lectors and Eucharistic Ministers. Personal schedules needs and other accommodations can be made so that this ministry is not a burden on your family life. Enhancing our Music at Mass

La Purisima has been blessed over the years to have won-derful people who have shared their voices and musical tal-ent to enhance our Eucharistic celebrations. We are current-ly seeking individuals who desire to continue this musical tradition at our parish. If you would like to join our choir, can play an instrument or if you would like to be a cantor at the 8 am Sunday Mass please let Fr. Mike know. Fr. Mike is open to suggestions and helpful comments regarding this ministry. So if you have ideas about how to enhance our music pro-gram please let Fr. Mike know.

What good news? The good news of Jesus Christ and our Catholic faith! This fall, over two hundred children and young people will sign up to learn more about Jesus and the Catholic faith. You can help them learn and grow by becoming a catechist or catechist aide. Classes are offered Sunday morning, Tuesday and Thursday evenings. You are almost sure to find a time that fits your schedule. We will provide you with training, materi-als, and support. Women’s Silent Retreat

Annual women’s retreat with the Sacred Heart Sisters coming up Oct 20-22nd in Alhambra. This will be our 44th year to attend and we now have a bus with over 80 ladies attending. We are taking applications and for more details check out the vestibule for information. We do have partial scholarships available. Little Saints Preschool is seeking a Teacher's Assistant to work with 2.5-5 year olds. Required to have 12 ECS/ECE Units and experience teaching 2.5-5 year olds. Save the Date for Religious Education Retreat

Religious Education will host a bilingual retreat for catechist of all levels. This retreat will take place on Saturday, September 16, 2017 from 8:30 – 11:00 am. We will begin with Mass and continue with interact talks and refreshments. Our retreat director will be Mr. Victor Hernandez. He is the Director of Religious Education at Our Lady of the Assumption in Claremont, CA. We invite those who have been and those who are considering teaching the faith to come and join us.

Monday Night Adult Group

After a break for Labor Day, Lectio: Evangelization (based on the Acts of the Apostles) will continue on Monday, September 11 at 7 p.m. in the Parish Hall. This 10-week DVD study is hosted by Dr. Mary Healy, who combines Bible study with Church teaching and practical wisdom to show you how modern Catholics can effectively lead people to Jesus Christ.

GOD’S WATCHERS

In the ancient world watchmen were extremely important people. They kept communities safe, and were there to alert them to any im-pending danger or attack. Before locks, alarms, and security systems, watchmen were the protectors, the safety measure. So when the Lord charges Ezekiel as a watchman today, it is a weighty charge. So weighty, we learn, that if Ezekiel fails to sound the alarm for those around him and they perish in a state of wickedness, Ezekiel will be held responsible! This profound connection between God’s will on earth and in heaven is repeated in today’s Gospel, where Jesus in-structs us that we are to be the security force, the watchers placed on alert that nowhere in the Body of Christ, the church, will there be any two members of the one Body who are not reconciled. Scripture tells us that Jesus reconciled all things in heaven and on earth through the blood of his cross. But we are given the mission to continue that recon-ciliation on earth as in heaven through our ceaseless efforts to be, as Paul would write, ambassadors of reconciliation. Let us not get too comfortable thinking that we are responsible only for keeping our own lives from the path of wickedness and disagreement. La escuela preescolar de la Purisima está buscando un asistente de maestra para trabajar con niños 2.5-5 años de edad. Requiere tener 12 ECS/ECE unidades y la experiencia en la enseñanza con niños de 2.5-5 años. También necesitará tomar huellas digitales o estar dis-puestos a tomar huellas digitales, actualizar la MMR y archivos de vacunas para la tos ferina.
