Students will display cooperative and collaborative behavioral skills in route to completing their assignment. Objectives: 1. Students will be able to work together. 2. Students will be able to list and give some detail different career choices. 3. Students will be able to understand from a basics standpoint the time and knowledge it takes to accomplish many of these career goals. 4. Students will be able to recall some of the services that the colleges or other programs provide in order to accomplish these goals. Differentiation Strategies: Students with limitations will be paired with students who are higher level students. ENGAGEMENT: Here is your chance to catch the student’s attention. You must pose questions or design an activity to help the students build on what they already know in preparation for learning something new. A. Students will work together in groups of 3 to 4, brainstorming on career paths and employment options after high-school. B. The students will have 5 days to complete this assignment. C. Students will then individually in class and at home work on completing their career path plan. 1. What is your dream career path? 2. Do you plan on going to college; Do you have to go to college to obtain your career path, if you don’t plan on going to college, then what steps do you have in place/and or plan to take to obtain your career goal? 3. If you are planning to go to college, what services do your college of choice provide, and briefly list and or elaborate on those services? 4. Does salary make a major difference in your career path choice, research the salary and benefits that come with your career path? 5. EXPLORATION:This is it, the heart of learning. Hands-on experiences are mandatory and should include chances for the students to collaborate and experiment and be able to discuss their learning with others.

I. Students are grouped together to communicate, write notes, and research some of their career path ideas; also put together a power point presentation of at least 6 slides, title page included. This will be a hands-on project, emphasizing collaboration amongst student participants in order to present a model level of creativity from each lesson constructed by students in my classroom.

Assessment: No Test

1.Observation for cooperatives and collaboration.2. Completion of entire assignment.3.Creativity4.Appropriate material in regards to school-wide and system wide rules and expectations.5.Neatness, and correct grammar.

EXPLANATION:This stage of the lesson is your part. You will cover vocabulary, concepts, ideas – whatever is necessary – to help the students understand the lesson. Include higher order thinking questions to help the students connect and comprehend the point of the lesson.

1. There will be a class discussion, and a video using the promethean board “with general people working in their career paths and fields” as well as give feedback on the discussion and video of career choices.

2. Students will be presented an example of a power-point lesson outline and a handout given as a model of what the lesson is about.

3. Students will then be placed in groups of (3 to 4) by myself, prompted to start communicating and working together ,using the information given to them through the discussion, video, power point example document, and lesson outline and or explanation sheet.

4. Next students will be seperated after the first day to 2 days at the most, and start working individually at completing their career path assignments. They can use resources in the classroom, school library, internet and or at home to help give them ideas, and expand their creativity.

5. Students are expected to have the assignment completed within 5 school days.

Note: Students with intellectual, emotional or any type of learning disability will be paired with peers and or myself in a tutorial or guiding manner.

The accommodations will be:

1. Peer tutoring2. Teacher Guidance3. Provide alternative options for students who have learning disabilities to present the material, but ensure that the

objectives and curriculum standards are followed as closely as possible. Examples, role play, completion of 4 to 5 power point slides versus 6, or Microsoft word text, or if necessary, verbal communication to class or just to the teacher.

Assessment No Test, Same as Prior Assessment.

ELABORATION:This is your chance to plan activities for the students to apply what they learned in the lesson to their lives and new situations. You will need to be creative and allow your students to do the same.

EVALUATION:Remember, assessment is part of each stage of the 5E lesson plan process. You will need to assess each student on their participation and understanding and evaluate how close they have come to meeting the objectives of the lesson.

1. Observation/Cooperativeness/Participation- 30 points2. Creativity-20points3. Correct Grammar-20 points4. Ethical Requirement, No Cheating or Plagarism-10 points5. 100% Completion of Assignment-20 points
