All of our machines are designed and built utilizing the SOMIC mechatronic modu-

lar platform. The product infeed, collating and grouping are critical elements in the

overall performance of a packaging process. Therefore, SOMIC incorporates a

variety of package handling devices such as pushers, grippers or pick & place too-

ling to quickly and carefully optimize package collation. After the product has been

grouped into the specified arrangement, the group is then carefully transferred

into the product-enclosing forming head. The folding and gluing of the carton blank

around the forming head finalizes the packaging process. During this process,

utmost care is taken to protect the quality of both, the product and the packa-

ging.

SOMIC 424 packaging lines provide many options as a result of the mechatronic

future formats within a defined range. The separation of the process into modular

packaging steps leads to a significant performance increase. This system

structure enables 2x capacity increases by producing two packages in a single

machine cycle.

Our latest end-of-line packaging machine SOMIC 232 is based on the same

functional principles, the structure and the decentralised control as the SOMIC

424 series. It has been designed for markets in which the demand for greater

product variety and smaller formats is increasing.

The smaller footprint and slimmer profile create the framework for high throughput

production and a wide variety of applications. At 100 folding cartons/min. in double

cycle mode, the 232 maximizes performance while minimizing your space

requirements.

directs an operator to quickly and easily change from one

SOMIC is founded in Vogtareuth in Bavaria Germany. In the beginning,

transport and stacking systems were engineered and built. Soon we

added packaging machines.

4 years later, SOMIC moves into its first own

company building in Wasserburg am Inn. Case erectors and insertion

packers are designed and manufactured, which developed the basis of

the SOMIC core business.

The first complete packaging lines are developed. Initially, the cheese

industry was our main emphasis. But our portfolio soon branched out

into other areas.

SOMIC now exclusively specializes in machines for the

end-of-line packaging process for tea, coffee, chocolate and snack

products or pet food. We are constantly expanding the range

of our applications.

Our new, future-oriented headquarters is being built in Amerang.

Servo/IPC technology is moving into the SOMIC facilities.

100 employees achieve sales of 10 million Euro.

We proudly received the Bavaria‘s Best 50 award. Thanks to our

customer-friendly attitude, innovative strength and uncompromising

qualitative thinking, we hold a top position in our market segment.

SOMIC sets standards with its mechatronic machine platform, the

424. Functional units and software-based technologies form the

40 years of SOMIC. The SOMIC group grows to more than 200

employees. In Chicago, SOMIC America Inc. is founded. Our product

family is growing as well - the latest development, SOMIC 232,

specifically designed for small packages and sales units, promises

higher performance in a smaller space. With its major customers,
