• Sometimes even the flexibility of RS-485 isn’t enough:
Problem: Star wiring patter is neededSolution: APM-10 star wiring adapter
Problem: Runs of longer than 4000ft are requiredSolution: Extenders are available (including Apollo ENI-110s)

General Wiring Tips
• Optical isolators are a good choice for RS-485 wiring that is connected to devices that are outdoor or could be subject to lighting strikes
• Be careful with wiring termination. Use terminal blocks and tip connectors where necessary. Don’t over-strip wires, make sure no bare wire is exposed anywhere to avoid crossovers that can affect communication or lead to power touching comm lines.
What about…?
• What kind of wire should be used for communication and reader connections?
• What kind of Apollo power supply is suitable for an AIM-4SL with 4 AP-Prox readers and 4 Schlage M420 Mag locks?
– Bonus question: How long will a 12Ah battery power this setup?
