SiteIntroductionSiwan is situated in the western part of North Bihar. It is bordered by Gopalganj District in the north and by the river Ghaghara in the south beyond which lies the Ballia district of Uttar Pradesh. In the east of Siwan lies Saran District while Deoria District bounds it from the west. Siwan covers an area of 2219 sq. km. Siwan, the district headquarters, is located on the eastern bank of river Daha. According to the 2001 census the population of the Siwan District is 27, 14,349. The Literacy Rate in the district is 51.65%, as registered in the census of 2001.Indian Railways has undertaken the task of developing Multi Functional Complex at railway stations across the country. The primary objective envisaged for development of MFCs is to ensure availability of passenger amenities at prominent stations. Aim & Objective: - The primary objective envisaged for development of MFCs is to ensure availability of passenger amenities at prominent stations. The Ministry of Railways devised a conceptual idea of the services expected within the MFCs covering passenger accommodation options (Budget Hotel), shopping avenues (retail shops, book stalls, restaurants, variety stores etc.) and passenger support facilities (Phone Booths, Medicine Store, underground parking etc.). The MFC development is a collaborative exercise between IRCON and RLDA, wherein RLDA facilitates land availability to IRCON and IRCON is entrusted with the project development and management, thereby striving to attain the passenger welfare.

Public amenities ETC. Rationale for selectionThe Project :- Construction of mfc for its striving to attain the passenger welfare and financial feasibility. The subject development is to be undertaken in form of a joint venture between the two designated entities. It is about 4 acres of plot area.

The current facilities at the station provide for basic requirements of the passengers however, they do not cater to the changing profile of the customers that Indian Railways is serving or would be serving over next decade.
