slide8. . Your role in future
Any uncertainties in communicating with a visually challenged person?
1. express yourself through words rather than through gestures.
2. be frank enough while enquiring about anything including matters relating to their eye sight.
3. Let them know when you enter or leave the room. If you see someone else entering, then you can always take the initiative and announce their name.4. beneficial if you describe the surroundings clearly.5. You could read to them points written on signboards and trace diagrams on their hands.6. Talk directly to the visually challenged person. (Not to the person who is with the visually challenged)!7. Don’t ignore them, just treat them as you would do to anybody else. 8. Remember that they are not ‘deaf’ or ‘retarded’. Yet many people communicate with them as if they really are!
Vision loss is a mere inconvenience, not a disability. They are differently abled.
