So the first question is why call a conference WIN WIN? The answer is simple If you WIN we WIN The role of Synaxon in the UK channel is to support our partners by delivering services that help them to be WINNING BUSINESSES

If you cast your mind back to this time last year, the main topic of conversation was the Olympics that were just about to take place right here in the UK- and they did and wow what a world class event it was. Now, If you recall last years conference I made reference to what it takes to be a gold winning Olympian. I used words like Dedication / Hard Work / Tenacity / Drive / Enthusiasm and I likened these attributes to directly to YOU

The great business people in this room today people that are making everyday sacrifices to build successful businesses - you use the very same attributes as the successful Olympian So to start the show, well done to each and every one of you, the drinks are on Synaxon tonight.

Ok, I like to start these things by giving us a flavour of the economy an idea of what is happening, just a snapshot of the big picture thats all.1Current UK Situation

UK Population 63.2M (from the 2011 census, the trend line is upwards) Current unemployment now at 2.52m (a further 43,000 came out of work during the period Jan to March 2013) c.9.00 m aged between 16 & 64 were either not actively looking for work or not available for work (this increased by 47,000 Jan to March 13) The only thing supporting the economy is low interest rates successive governments try to buy their way out with more credit National debt is increasing and is now at record levels

Data from the Office of National Statistics They tell us we are not in recession Financially Britain is on its knees and will remain so for the foreseeable future HOWEVER ALL IS NOT LOST!

looking at these numbers and reading all the other stats from the office of national statistics it really does beg the question who is kidding who? Is it the media? or is it the government? One of the two is taking us all for mugs. Financially speaking Britain is broke but hang on - We are told that we are not in recession! If Britain PLC were a business it would be bankrupt, If Britain PLC were a Synaxon member we would have to throw them out as nobody in the channel would work with such a business. Ingram, Enta and all the other distributors would never extend credit to Britain PLC in the business world.

I have said for the past few years that in my opinion it will be the end of this decade before we see any kind of significant uplift in our economy. Now, I believe I will be long retired well before this countries economics improve and thats only if they ever do and I know I really only look 21.

Okay doom and gloom over with ALL is not lost we may no longer have a British Empire and we may no longer be the financial hub of world trade and we no longer have jobs for the boys , all of our heavy industry disappeared years ago.. BUT I still firmly believe that post the 2012 Olympics the GREAT is once again back in Britain. 2I think the Great is back in Britain!

The Britain of 2013 is once again GREAT BRITAIN, we are back on the world map and I for one am proud be British and be a part of this great nation - - - - whether GB is broke or otherwise ----- the 2012 Olympics was simply a reminder to the world of how great this nation really is ---- We live, we play and most importantly we run our businesses on an island full of winners.

Through that short video you got a glimpse of the tears, the pain, the despair and the heartache of not quite making it ---- You also got a glimpse at the jubilation, the satisfaction and the absolute joy of winning, the euphoria of being beyond question the best in the world at what you do.

But understand the difference between wining and being an also ran not only in sport but also in business the difference between tears and jubilation can be measured in tiny fractions. Sir David Brailsford coached the GB cycling team to great success, he worked a system of marginal improvements, a few tiny changes that when added together and compounded over months and years add up to a significant difference in results.
