Profile of the Director :
Dr. Sharadha Ramesh, Director, SCON
Dr. Sharadha Ramesh is a Doctorate in Nursing from Sri Ramachandra University, Chennai and
an alumnus of Omayal Achi CON, Tamilnadu Dr. M.G.R Medical University, Chennai; as well
as CON, CMCH, Vellore, University of Madras. The Lady Officer puts in a total 32 years of
experience that includes various cadres of Nursing Service, Nursing Education and Nursing
Research. She was an active Public Health Nurse in various rural/urban areas at Vellore and
worked as School Health Nurse in United Arab Emirates. She has to her credit 35 Independent
Research projects and has presented a total of 146 Papers as Podium Presentations of which 127
papers were presented as a resource person in various national and International Conference
forums in India and Abroad. Various news channels have identified her extempore dialoguing
competence both in Tamil and English was identified on various occasions and she was invited
for special talk on burning issues in Society. She has headed forums that include Nursing,
Nutrition and Dietetics, MDS programmes, Police training academy, PhD workshops, Nurse
Administrators for the hospitals and yoga for school children, Day care schools for children,
NGO, High Schools, Teachers Training Academy, Arts and Science colleges and yoga for
college students. She holds crucial positions in various Research and Advisory Committees of
reputed Universities in India as well as editor cum book reviewer of National and International
Journals. She is one of the panel members of Beta Nu Delta Inc – An International Philippines
Nurses Society a special appointment given by the President. She is a member of Board of
studies, Academic Council, Senate, Human Ethics Committee, University Library Committee
Member, NAAC Steering Committee and University Research Advisory Committee in couple of
Universities. She has also contributed immensely to the Nursing Profession by designing e-
learning modules and also has written Book Chapters. Her contributions to Education and
Research are applauded by conferring upon her various prestigious awards like Sigma Theta Tau
– Eta Pi Research award from USA. She has received various other awards like Best Woman
Award in March 2017 for International Women’s Day, Best Research Paper - 2010 during the
International Nurses Conference conducted by Omayal Achi College of Nursing in association
with Saskatchewan University, Canada as well as Worldwide Nursing Conference held at
Singapore in July 2017, Best Principal for 2016 in Indira Group of Institutions and also Best
Research Paper Award – 2010 at International Nurses Conference conducted by Omayal Achi
College of Nursing in Association with Saskatchewan University. Dr. Sharadha is currently
holding the post of Director at the Symbiosis College of Nursing.
Institute Profile
Symbiosis College of Nursing (SCON) was established in the year 2007 with an aim to create
leaders in the nursing profession by providing unique, innovative programme that are responsive
to the market needs. SCON is recognized by Indian Nursing Council, New Delhi and
Maharashtra Nursing Council, Mumbai. The programme offered by SCON ensures numerous
career avenues for a graduate and postgraduate nurse in the healthcare industry across the world.
SCON is associated with major hospitals of Pune city to provide necessary ‘hands-on’ clinical
and para-clinical experience necessary for the students pursuing hospital based academic
programmes. Symbiosis College of Nursing thus aims to create a benchmark in nursing
education in India. The overall aim of nursing programme is to prepare a graduate Nurse to work
as frontline worker in the clinical and community field and educational arena.

Eligibility: (As per Indian Nursing Council requirements)
1. The minimum age for admission shall be 17 years on or before 31st Dec. of the year of
admission
2. The minimum educational requirements shall be the passing of: Higher Secondary school
certificate Examination (12 years course),
OR
Senior School certificate Examination (10+2), pre-degree Examination (10+2)
OR
An equivalent with 12 years schooling from a recognized board or University with
science (Physics, Chemistry, Biology) and English with minimum of 45% aggregate
marks (PCBE) passing one at the same time.
3. Candidate shall be medically fit.

Orientation and Pedagogy
Orientation to the programme is offered during Induction programme for a period of two days.
The programme is divided into theory and clinical blocks.

It is mandatory for the students to attend the classes in the college as well as at clinical field as
per the course structure.
