Attempted suicide twice before the age of 31.

The Bell Jar:A Semi autobiography
The Bell Jar- is a very transparent telling of Plath’s life.
Allusion to many real people in Plath’s life.
Including- her doctor, her patrons and teachers in Plath’s past.
Esther Greenwood (Main character of the novel) also works for the same magazine as Plath as well as attaining similar scholarships.

Plath’s Husband ,Ted Hughes, left Plath for Wevill.
The affair has been attributed to the suicide of Plath.

London on February 11, 1963 Plath Commited Suicide Left two children Frieda and Nicholas in
their bedroom Provided food and drink for them. Had head in oven with gas spouts on. Found by her nurse the following
morning.

Hughes’s Controversy
Ted Hughes has, usually by feminists and American Plath fans, been considered Plath’s murderer.
Controversially destroyed Plath’s journals detailing the last months of their relationship.
Believed to maybe entail her thoughts on his infidelity.

Buried – February 1963.
Last name Hughes is generally chiseled off.
Supporters who think that Hughes killed Plath do this.

Assia Wevill’s Death
23 March 1969 Killed herself as well
as her four year old daughter, Shura
Committed the suicide by placing a mattress in the oven and turning on all the gas valves.
Brought into question Hughes husbandry.

Nicholas Plath
Also committed suicide on March 23rd, 2009.
Not married, no kids and also battled depression.
Occurred forty six years after his mothers death.
Hanged himself in his own home.

The only surviving child of Hughes and Plath’s
Also a poet and works on BBC radio. Also has written a series of children’s
books. Still living today.
