Planting the Seeds for Lifelong Learning Sylvania Child Care has opened its arms and doors to more than 11,000 children in the past 25 years, helping them to make the connections between life and learning. When they’re with us, children feel treasured, safe, and respected. Families know they can depend on Sylvania Child Care to provide exactly what their children need… a place to come for quality care and lifelong learning. Sylvania Child Care provides two premier preschools for children ages 3 to 5 years old and before and afterschool care for children grades K to 6. Here is what we accomplished in just one short year at Sylvania Child Care: Provided more than 1,056 hours concurrently of compassionate, safe, and enriching care to more than 400 children in our before and afterschool program at five elementary school locations (serving seven elementary schools) Ignited the spark for learning in 82 preschool children at two convenient Sylvania locations Gave 186 children the opportunity to share 10 weeks of laughter and learning in our summer camp program Donated more than $6,600 in scholarships and assistance funds, ensuring that 20 children had the same opportunity for quality care and teaching as their classmates. The teachers are exceptional at applying relatable life items to concepts in order for the children to learn in fun and exciting ways. For example, pretending to be the Postman and delivering Valentine cards to the other children’s boxes in order to demonstrate the concept of the postal service and how the mail system works. Not only is she getting prepared academically for Kindergarten, but she is learning very important skills like sharing and thinking through solutions under the guidance of positive and caring teachers. Making ConnectionsAt Sylvania Child Care, we’re serious about learning and child care. But we make it a joy for children. Our teacherstailortheirteachingtothechild.Wecapturethose“Igetit!”momentsandencouragethe“How?”and“Why?”questions.

Whether it’s in our preschool or our extended care program, we help children to see the art in nature and the math in music. We blend classroom learning with outside adventures. Connected learning means children are prepared for each next step in their education.

Studies indicate enrichment activities have a far-reaching effect on children. Our programs provide social skills development and deepen learning in all academic areas.

I liked the convenience of having the extended care program right at the school. The staff is all very friendly toward the parents and children. My daughter preferred to be there in the morning versus having a family member watch her and get her on the bus. She said she had fun. The fact that she enjoyed it made me even more confident that the program was a good choice for me/us.
