The Rocks and Circular QuayIt’s all about the city sights with beautiful water frontage.Right on the water, you’ll stand in the shade of SydneyOpera House and the equally iconic Sydney Harbour Bridge. In the heart of the city, this is the place to go for markets, galleries, great shopping, restaurants and bars. Seek outtreasures among cobblestone laneways and sandstonewarehouses and have a drink in an old pub before taking aferry from Circular Quay across to Manly or Taronga Zoo.

Darling HarbourBe spoilt for choice at Darling Harbour. Alive with activityday and night, there’s always something happening andalways plenty to see. Find Nemo at the Sydney Aquariumor head to Sydney Wildlife World and pat a koala. The areais packed with attractions and you can see it all from thecity’s monorail.

Eating your way around Darling Harbour is highlyrecommended. Find everything from steak houses to finedining at Cockle Bay Wharf or King Street Wharf beforeheading out to a club nearby. There’s usually a host of freeentertainment to be had outside, too. Street performers andlive music add to the spectacle along the waterfront.Darling Harbour is simply bustling with things to do.

CityIt’s all about shopping, dining and enjoying Sydney’soutdoor lifestyle in the city centre. The holy trinity ofholiday fun can be found in a huge variety of attractions, sensational restaurants and large gardens where you canwhile away the hours amid the bustling metropolis. Whenit comes time for some retail therapy Sydney dishes it outin spades. The Queen Victoria Building fills an entire cityblock and there are more than four hundred stores alongPitt Street Mall.

Inner EastReady to up the ante? Sydney’s inner east oozes with styleand is packed with restaurants and fashion boutiques. Enjoylunch before shopping up a storm on Oxford Street,Paddington. Darlinghurst and Surry Hills are restaurantcentral, or head out to Woolloomooloo for an afternoon bitealong the waterfront at Finger Wharf. Kings Cross will haveyou swept up in the nightlife – there’s something foreveryone here!

East SydneyCity meets surf in a cornucopia of famous beaches andharbourside suburbs east of Sydney. Whatever your style, you’re bound to find it here.

Take advantage of the exclusive cafés, bars, boutiques andbeauty salons in upmarket Double Bay. From upmarket tofree and easy, Bondi is the closest surf beach to the cityand its famous sandy stretch is the Sydney playgroundwhere everyone from board riders to billionaires come tomingle. At the southern end of the stretch, surf’s up atCoogee. The classic Sydney surf beach has walking tracksand is a popular, quieter spot to relax.

North SydneyIf you prefer a little more city than surf, harboursidesuburbs Cremorne and the exclusive McMahons Point tickall the boxes. The area is renowned for fabulous stylishrestaurants and boutiques, or spend some time at nearbyTaronga Zoo.

Laidback Manly is one of Sydney’s most popular beaches.A 30 minute ferry ride across Sydney Harbour will get youthere, and you won’t want to leave with a pick of both thesurf and a quieter inner harbour beach. When you’relooking to wind things down though, just 45 minutes northof the city is Narrabeen. The coastal hideaway has plentyof fun both on and off the water.

West SydneySoak up the history and vibrancy of Sydney’s west. Oncehost of the 2000 Olympics, Homebush Bay’s SydneyOlympic Park is now an urban waterfront parkland. Keepan eye out for festivals, concerts and events held herethroughout the year.

Beyond Olympic Park, it’s easy to see why Parramattais often called ‘Sydney’s Living Museum’, with itscolonial architecture, historic sites, elegant parks and ahuge array of international restaurants and cafés.Further west, take a self drive tour of Penrith Valley inthe Blue Mountains foothills. It’s an aquatic adventureplayground with plenty of sports, entertainment andcultural options, not to mention easy access to theBlue Mountains.
