Symptom

You want to schedule regular backups for your SAP System running on Sybase ASE

Environment

SAP Business Suite running on SAP Sybase ASE 15.7

Resolution

1. In SAP Gui, call transaction DBACOCKPIT 2. Click on "Schedule an Action" under Favorites to open the scheduling wizard

  

3. Complete the wizard:

¡ on page "Introduction",  click "Continue".   

¡ on page "Job Selection", choose SQL Script from the drop down menu and select  "Start immediately", a given date, or "Schedule as Recurring Action" as needed:

  

¡ on page "Parameters",  enter the precise "dump database " or "dump transaction " command to be executed. Refer to Sybase ASE System Administration Guide, Volume 1, Chapter 13, "Backing Up and Restoring User Databases" and Sybase ASE Reference Manual: Commands, Sections "dump database" and "dump transaction" for reference.

¡ on page "Recurrence", setup the desired recurrence for the scheduled job.   

¡ on page "Summary", review the settings and click "Execute".

After completion of the wizard the newly scheduled job shows up in the DBA Planning calendar.
