Longevity and ReliabilityDaikin's self-contained systems are designed for longevity and for reliable operation, featuring:

• Complete cabinet and frame with robust panels and double-wall construction

• Optional stainless steel, double-sloped drain pans

• Mechanically cleanable, water-cooled copper and brass condensers rated for up to 450 psi water pressure

• Up to eight scroll compressors and refrigeration circuits

• Advanced refrigerant circuitry with optional hot gas bypass

• Plastic sheath protection on distributor tubes

• Optional 4" long life filters

Heavy DutyTwo heavy duty, low vibration, galvanized steel cabinet options (with gasketed frame channels to minimize air leakage) are offered:

• Foam injected panels with R-13 insulation sandwiched between 22-gauge exterior panels and liners

• 2” 1.5# density R-8 fiberglass insulation sandwiched between 16-gauge exterior panels and 18-gauge liners

Rigid ConstructionThe foam injected panels provide superior rigid construction; deflection is less than 1/240 times panel length at 5” of pressure and weigh far less.

• Optional fiberglass insulation reduces radiated noise by use of heavier gauge metal

• Optional perforated liners increase ducted sound attenuation

• Minimizes air leakage

• Air leakage is only 0.5 cfm/square foot of cabinet at 5"cabinet pressure (typically less than 1%)

• Eliminates metal-to-metal contact between paneling and framework

Daikin's compartmentalized design, hinged door access, quick release access panels, and MicroTech III controls make our self-contained units easy to access and maintain.

We place the following major components out of the supply air stream, making it possible to perform measurements and adjustments while the unit is operating:

• Cleanable shell/tube condensers and compressors

• Refrigerant sight glasses

• Optional compressor isolation valves (discharge and liquid line shut-off valves are always provided)

• Fully integrated and factory-tested MicroTech III controls can significantly reduce costly field commissioning and are easily accessed for system diagnostics and quick adjustments. Left and right-hand control boxes are offered to provide optimal access

• Our Open Choices™ feature provides easy integration with your BAS using open, standard protocols including BACnet® and LonWorks®

• On-board diagnostics help maintain long-term performance and reliability

High Efficiencies and Lower Operating Costs

Lower Operating CostsBy combining high-efficiency scroll compressors, direct-expansion cooling, water-cooled condensers, water economizers and VAV control, Daikin self-contained units provide significantly higher operating efficiencies than alternative systems. Efficiencies that greatly exceed ASHRAE Standard 90.1-2010 guidelines are the norm.

• Water-cooled condensers and DX refrigeration allows units to be selected with total unit efficiencies reaching 14.5 EER and 0.75 kw per ton or more. These efficiencies exceed many water-cooled chiller systems as no chilled water pump is required and variable condenser water flow is easily utilized

• Highly efficient airfoil fan is offered with variable frequency drives

• Waterside or airside economizer options reduce compressor run hours by using available “free cooling”

Acoustical AdvantagesDaikin SWP self-contained units are provided with a highly efficient, SWSI airfoil plenum fan and have several acoustical advantages:

• Airfoil fans are more efficient than forward curved fans and contribute to less noise

• For specific unit sizes, several fan diameters are available so that fan selection provides optimal efficiency

• Competitive supply duct work normally involves discharging air vertically into the ceiling and then routing it horizontally (see above figure). Daikin's plenum fan discharge has far less velocity pressure than competitive housed fan discharge, resulting in:

- 90° duct elbows that generate far less turbulence - Air flow that can be routed in any direction

QuietDaikin offers an optional acoustical discharge plenum (see above figure) that minimizes supply duct transition losses and noise:

• Plenum fans pressurize the entire cabinet and have no significant plenum air pressure drop (housed fans have expansion, contraction, and 90° elbow losses)

• The Daikin discharge plenum can be offered in any height to match the ceiling height
