Swot Analysis_Barco Case

2
SWOT ANALYSIS Strength BPS is the market leader in the graphics sector of the projector industry. BPS enjoys a reputation of being a well-established player in its niche market. 8 to 10% of Barco’s annual turnover and 15 % of its employees are dedicated to R&D. It shows the company’s dedication towards Research and Development which is a very strong point. Weakness BPS depends too much on a division of its competitor, Sony, for an essential component(picture tube) in its projectors. Insufficient knowledge about competitor’s strategy. BPS failed to anticipate the launching of the new product 1270 by Sony. Opportunities Developing a new product (like BG800) which is as good as Sony’s and selling it at a price comparable to Sony’s 1270. Launching their already planned product BG700 at a date earlier than initially decided. Lowering the price of the existing products. Threats New product (1270) launched by Sony is the major threat now.
