Swing Phi Swing was founded April 4, 1969 by 12 remarkable young women at Winston Salem State University in Winston-Salem, NC.

They were determined to offer an alternative to sorority and Greek life that promoted knowledge of self, activism, individuality, and true sisterhood.

Today, SWING is an organization for rare women who aren’t afraid to stray from the norm.

Proving the ideology of quality not quantity, SWING is an intimate group of women with extraordinary strength & courage making a positive impact on their college campuses and communities.

Founded October 12, 1962 at Morgan State University by 14 young men who felt the need to create an innovative organization to change the way we think about brotherhood.

Undergraduate Enrolled in an accredited

college/or university pursuing an Associates or Bachelors degree

A 2.3 GPA on a 4.0 scale Minimum 12 semester hours

Graduate must meet one of the following criteria: Graduate of a technical/career

college or obtained a professional certification

Graduate of a 2 or 4 year college

Professional w/minimal training in a career field

A demonstrated record of community service – min 5 yrs.

A period during which the candidate(s) will be trained, oriented, and evaluated on specific information and aspects of Swing Phi Swing Social Fellowship, Inc. in order to become a member.

Swing Phi Swing Social Fellowship, Inc. has a strict no tolerance, no hazing policy which prohibits any form of hazing during the Rites of Passage Program.

Swing Phi Swing does not condone or practice hazing, as it is in direct violation of the constitution and bylaws which govern the organization.
