We offer City and Guilds Level 3 Social Media for Business and Level 2 Support Work in Schools courses. For 16-24-year olds we offer a fully flexible programme of qualifications and engagement activities in partnership with Asphaleia and funded by the Department for Work and Pensions. NEWSLETTER WINTER 2019/20 EDITION Welcome from Ian Ross, Managing Director It seems unbelievable that Whitehead- Ross is now over 7 years old, having started in our small head office in Skewen back in April 2012. During this time, we have supported an impressive 3,661 individuals across our programmes. Every year we have expanded into a new geographical area, with Portsmouth, Reading and Somerset being added to the Whitehead-Ross family this year. With fixed offices in Swansea, Skewen, Brighton, Swindon and Dorchester, we could not achieve what we do without our fantastic team of 25 staff. I am also grateful to our partners: Twin Training, Petroc, Asphaleia, CSW Group, Groundworks, ITEC and LLC. I would like to personally thank everyone who has supported us this year; commissioners, referral organisations and employers.” I look forward to even more challenges and opportunities in 2020. HRH received a briefing about our Happy Families, Happy Futures programme in Dorset. Funded by the Department for Work and Pensions and delivered in partnership with Twin Training, the programme aims to reduce parental conflict with one to one support and a variety of parenting interventions, such as Triple P, Incredible Years, Within My Reach and Family Check. He also looked at work from some of the young people accessing our ESF Skills for Young People programme delivered in Dorset secondary schools, which is designed for 15-16-year olds who are at risk of becoming NEET (not in education, employment or training). Delivered in partnership with CSW Group, young people enjoy a number of activities, such as creative, arts and media projects, along with an opportunity to achieve the City and Guilds Level 1 Award in Employability Skills. HRH also heard about our fostering recruitment campaign we deliver for Dorset Council. Between January and October 2019, we have successfully recruited 20 new Foster Carers, who have been approved by Panel. In November we won an award in the Wessex FM Business Awards for the category of ‘Best Digital Marketing 2019’ for our Foster in Dorset campaign. This award recognises the use of social media and webinars in promoting fostering. Royal visit HRH in Poundbury Earlier this year HRH The Prince of Wales visited our office in Dorset as part of his visit to Poundbury. During his visit His Royal Highness found out about some of the programmes we currently deliver in the area. Awards and accolades

We currently deliver the Welsh Government’s Employment Support Programme in Swansea and Neath Port Talbot, including dedicated groups designed specifically for jobseekers who are ex-offenders. Delivered in partnership with ITEC Skills, we offer jobseekers one to one support with CV writing, interview techniques and job searching to give them the best possible chance of progressing onto paid employment. We also deliver a variety of vocational qualifications, such as the CSCS card for working in construction, and Emergency First Aid for the Workplace. In 2018/19 we supported 257 jobseekers across the programme.

Skewen office makeover

Our office in Skewen serves as our HQ and re-opened its doors in July after an extensive 15-month refurbishment project. As part of the project, a disused area to the rear of the building has been bought back into use to create a Youth Hub. This was part funded by the European Rural Development Community Fund through the Welsh Government.
