Hello, Giinagay, Hai,
Thanks to all the families who came along to make the Year 6 graduation, such
a pleasurable celebration. The students had a great time and a good night was
had by all. Thanks to all the Year 5 students who did an outstanding job, waiting
on us all with our meals. Thanks to all their parents for dropping and picking
them up, your support for this event is appreciated. Thanks to all the staff that
came along and made this a night to remember for our Year 6 students, who
are about to begin another step in their educational journey.
A glorious night of celebration will be held on Wednesday evening on the
basketball court starting at 5.30pm. Recognising the outstanding achievements
from students of all year levels and honouring students’ contribution to our
school community. This is an annual whole school event that is attended by all
staff and students with their families. It is an evening for the school community
to celebrate learning, achievements of the current year, showcase our talented
students and formal graduation of our Year 6 cohort and exiting families.
Looking forward to seeing you there.
Today all students had a transition time in with their teachers in 2018 and the
classrooms they will be in, except for the 1/2s who had me, as Deb Swan does
not work on Tuesdays. Next year the Year 5/6 class will be in the new
demountable and the Year 2/3 class will be in the 5/6 classroom. This will then
make all the classroom levels in alignment across the school.
Thanks to Bu Annie and Ricky for achieving their Bronze Medallion at the
weekend. This allows us to have further access to beach programs in 2018.
As Term 4 draws to a close I would like to wish all families a peaceful and
relaxing vacation break. The upcoming holidays are an ideal opportunity for
students to recharge their batteries, reflect on what they have achieved so far.
Schools are extremely busy places and this year has been characterized by
students meeting the expectations and standards of their year level. This year
has been very special as we welcomed the Little Whales into our school. It has
been exciting watching them adapt to their new setting. Feedback has been
exceptionally positive across the school regarding outcomes in a number of
different School areas. Congratulations to all,
In closing, on behalf of the staff of Scotts Head Public School I wish you an
enjoyable holiday. We look forward to seeing everyone’s eager, cheery faces
next year. Best wishes!
Thanks, yaarri yaraang, terima kasih.

Student Reports will be sent home on Wednesday
Student reports provide parents and teachers with a clear picture of your child’s current
achievements and the progress they have made. The school-based reports are directed to the
individual student and parent and provide the information that directs curriculum decision making
at the school level. This informs classroom teachers in the directions and planning of individual
education requirements that all students need. Evidence-based decision making at the local level
is very important in improving students' educational experiences and learning achievement. If you
have any immediate concerns re the report please contact the school, or otherwise this can be
discussed early in Term 1 of 2018 with parent teacher interviews.

School and Community news
Getting on Track in Time – Got It!
Got It! is a new program led by the NSW Ministry of Health in partnership with the NSW Department of Education. Scotts Head Public
School has been offered a place in this exciting new program.
The Got It! team will be running a 10 week program for children in Kindergarten to Year 2, aged 5-8 years (Early Stage One and Stage
One) and their parents, who are having problems with challenging and disruptive behaviour – at home or at school. The program will
give families the opportunity to be part of a fun and supportive group that can improve child behaviour and family relationships and
help parents deal with difficult behaviours.
Challenging and disruptive behaviour often causes problems in many areas of a child’s life. It can also be stressful for their family,
friends and community.
Sadly, these children can often be seen as ‘naughty’, rather than as children who are struggling with organising their thoughts,
feelings and behaviours.
Got It! aims to give support and practical help to children and their families, and also to support the school community to help
children get the most out of the opportunities available to them.
The Got It! team is looking forward to working at Scotts Head Public School and would like to thank the whole school community for
your commitment to improving the wellbeing of children and families at Scotts Head Public School. An information session will be
held on Wednesday 7th February 2018 between 9 and 11. More information in Week 1 of Term 1.
ALL families will be asked to complete a questionnaire for each child in Kindergarten, Year 1 and Year 2. Please help us by returning
this form ASAP. These will be given out to all students in Week 2—Term 2 -m2018.
Please direct any specific enquiries to your child’s teacher. This program will be in our school in Term 1 and 2 of 2018.
Looking forward to enhancing the Wellbeing of our students.
Gillian Stuart and the Got It Team.
