SWIMMING SUMMER CAMP The Ohio State Swim Camp is directed by the Ohio State University coaching staff with a focus placed on skill development, improving stroke technique and having fun in an elite, positive learning environment for campers, age 8-18. The residential option is open to any and all campers entering grades 5 - 12 as of the Fall of 2019. The camp features individualized instruction and analysis, a combination of in-water, dryland and strength training exercises, and classroom work. To enhance the overall camp experience of all participants, it is highly recommended (but not required) that campers have competitive swimming experience prior to attending. Considered the premier collegiate recreation center in the country, camp is held in the Recreation and Physical Activity Center (RPAC), which contains two state-of-the-art aquatic facilities – the Bill and Mae McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion and the Recreation Natatorium. 7-8am – Breakfast 8:30-9:00am – Classroom Session I, Stroke Analysis/Review 9:00-9:45am – Dynamic Warm-up/Activation/Strength Session 10:00-11:30am – Practice Session I 11:45am-1:30pm – Lunch/Break 1:45-3:45pm – Practice Session II, Swim Stations 4:00-5:00pm – Instructional Classroom Discussion (ex. Sports Nutrition, Strength & Conditioning, Sports Psychology) 5:00pm – Day Campers Depart 5:30-6:30pm – Dinner 7:30-8:45pm – Practice Session III 9:00-10:00pm – Camp Activity (ex. Experienced and mature counselors provide supervision for all campers, residential or commuter, while on campus. All camp staff members are required to complete a working with minors course and undergo a background check conducted by the Ohio State Human Resources Department. Staff members are typically current/former college athletes. 2019 ENROLLMENT The Summer Camps are open to any and all ages 8-18. The overnight option is only available to campers entering grades 5-12 in the Fall of 2019, no exceptions. The registration fee for commuter campers is $635 and includes supervision, facility use, camp t-shirt and cap, and lunches Monday-Thursday. The registration fee for residential campers is $760 and includes room and board, supervision, facility use, camp t-shirt and camp, and all meals beginning with dinner on the first day and ending with breakfast on the last day. Save 10% by registering by March 15, 2019. Mail-in registrations must be postmarked on or before March 15th. A $150 non-refundable deposit is required to reserve a participant’s enrollment. There is a maximum number of campers permitted, so register early! You may register online by visiting OhioStateBuckeyes.com/camps. A 3% processing fee will be added to all online registrations. If registering by mail, please make checks payable to The Ohio State University. Any non-scholastic group of 5 or more that wishes to pay with one check for the entire group must do so ahead of time via mail. Any non-scholastic organization with a group of 5 or more registering the day of the camp must pay with credit card, cash, or money order. No exceptions will be made. DISCOUNTS Discounts are not available through online registration. Discounts cannot be combined. If registering as a group, all registrations must be submitted together, along with payment, by mail. Please make checks payable to The Ohio State University. GROUP DISCOUNT: Groups of 8 or more may receive a discount of $75 off each camper’s registration fee. SIBLING DISCOUNT: When one individual attends a 2019 Swimming Summer Camp, each additional sibling from the same family may be eligible for a $100 discount for the same session. REQUIRED FORMS FOR PARTICIPATION The Parent Consent, Waiver & Release Form AND the Concussion Information Form are REQUIRED for all participants. These forms must be completed during online registrations. Upon reciept of mail-in registrations, we will email a link to complete these forms online. Athletes will not be permitted to participate without these forms. EQUIPMENT Campers are responsible for bringing their own equipment. Equipment will not be provided to ANY camper. All campers should bring a swimsuit, cap, goggles, training equipment (kickboard, pull buoy, fins), towels, a water bottle, toiletries, bed linens, an alarm clock, clothes (including t-shirts, shorts, and athletic shoes for dryland sessions). We recommend bringing a modest amount of spending money to use for snacks in the evening or for the camp store. CONFIRMATION Upon processing of each registration, a confirmation notice will be sent by email. A packet of “Important Information for Registered Campers” (including the Parent Consent & Waiver Form and Concussion Information Form) will be posted online at OhioStateBuckeyes.com/ camps at least 2 weeks prior to the start of each camp. This packet will not be separately mailed to campers. Please check your email regularly, as this is our primary method of communication with campers and their parents. REFUNDS A full refund less the $150 non-refundable deposit will be issued for any cancellation received by at least 2 weeks prior to the start of each camp session. The non-refundable deposit and 3% online processing fee are not refundable for ANY reason. Because we have to guarantee our number of campers in order to prepare for camp, any cancellation received less than 2 weeks prior to the start of each camp session will not be eligible for any refund except in the case of injury, illness, or mandatory school event, in which case supporting documentation from a doctor or school is required. A camp fee may not be transferred to any other Ohio State sports camp. A camp fee may not be transferred to any other camper. All cancellation notices must be received by the deadline above and submitted by mail, email, or fax - no phone calls or voicemails. All supporting documentation required for a refund to be approved and processed must be submitted within 10 days after the conclusion of the camp session. Refund requests must be submitted on the Refund Request Form available at OhioStateBuckeyes.com/ camps. Campers who are injured while at camp but remain at camp will not be eligible for any refund.
