To the west you can see San Diego Bay and thePacific Ocean. To the east are majestic views of
the Sweetwater Reservoir and rugged backcountrymountains. You’re standing in the campground ofSweetwater Regional Park, and surrounding youis a unique county recreational area.
downtown San Diego, so in a matter of minutesyou can get from your campsite to the GaslampQuarter and its fine dining, or to the world famousSan Diego Zoo and museums of Balboa Park. Thereare several golf courses nearby, and SweetwaterReservoir offers shoreline fishing on Saturdays,Sundays, and Mondays from sunrise to sunset.Call (619) 409-6777 for information.
FacilitiesCampers, trailers, motor homes, and tent
camping are all options at our 112 sites, all ofwhich have water and electricity. Trailers as longas 45 feet will find plenty of room here, and allsites include sewer services or use of the dumpstation facilities. All campers have 24-hour accessto hot showers; there is an outdoor amphitheater,which can be reserved for group functions.
Other amenities include a partially enclosedday-use pavilion with kitchen facility and privatelawn area. An adjacent local park features onelarge and four small pavilions, as well as lawnareas and picnic tables with panoramic views ofthe countryside. Reservations must be made fororganized events in the local park.
One of the highlights at the park is a tropical-themed aquatic playground, sure to be a hit withchildren. Passes are sold on a first-come, firstserved basis.
The Community Building is nestled on the edgeof the meadows, above the shoreline of SweetwaterReservoir. This glassed-in modern facility isavailable for rent, and features an outdoor patiowith breathtaking views of the lake, an indoorgreat room designed for special events, akitchenette, playground and ample guest parking.

CAMPFIRES: Must be confined to existing barbeques or firerings. See ranger for current campfire rules.
PETS: Pets are permitted if they are properlyrestrained and under the control of theowner. Dogs must be licensed, restrained on aleash not longer than six feet, and attended atall times.
WASTE WATER: Please dispose of all waste water in anapproved dump station, never on the ground.
VEGETATION & All plants, animals, natural features,NATURAL and archaeological resources are fullyFEATURES: protected and may not be damaged, injured,
or removed. Please check with your rangerfor firewood — he or she generally has asupply to sell for campfires. Please do notgather it from within the park.
TREES: Do not tie or hang ropes, wire, or tents totrees. Do not drive nails, screws, or staplesinto trees.
GENERATORS: Use of generators is prohibited.
NOISE: To insure each park guest’s pleasure andpeace, quiet hours are from 10:00 p.m. to8:00 a.m. Of course, excessive noise and loudmusic is discouraged at all times.
FIREARMS & Firearms, fireworks, and weapons areWEAPONS: not permitted in County Parks.
YOUTH: All persons under 18 years of age must beaccompanied by a legally responsible adultwith medical authorization for each childwhile camping in the park.
ALCOHOLIC Alcoholic beverages are permittedBEVERAGES: providing the alcohol content does not
exceed 20%.

At the Hub of South Bay RecreationVisitors to Sweetwater Regional Park have
quite a palette of activities to choose from. TheSweetwater Regional Park Campground restsatop a hill overlooking the Sweetwater Valleyand offers modern campsites—including somewith corrals for equestrians who want to bringtheir horses and explore the 16 miles of trails inthe park. Below the Summit are hundreds ofacres of open space including chaparral and riverhabitat that provide a rich variety for hikers,horseback riders, and mountain bikers.
Sweetwater Regional Park is especiallyappealing for people who want to get away—butnot too far away. It’s only 10 miles southeast of
