3 General requirements
The overall requirements for drawings are that they shall be clear, easy to read and
understand and adapted to Swedish National Grid’s documentation system. The
drawings shall also be easily legible after being printed out in a size smaller than the
original. Swedish National Grid is entitled to determine whether the requirements are
met. The supplier shall supply test drawings upon request. These shall include all types
of drawings within the scope of the delivery. The documentation shall be produced
according to Swedish National Grid’s requirements and guidelines.
Any divergences from these requirements must be approved in writing by Swedish National Grid.
3.1 Provision of drawing frames and templates All drawing frames and templates are always supplied by Swedish National Grid’s
documentation unit, even if Swedish National Grid is not the principal.
3.2 Drawing header Drawings whose header has been changed will not be approved. This is because
Swedish National Grid’s drawing headers are linked to its database, and this linkage
cannot be ensured if a header has been changed.
The way in which data is entered in the drawing header may differ between technical
sectors, but this must be done as shown in the example in Annex A.
3.2.1 Drawing numbers
Drawing numbers shall be made available by the documentation unit, even if Swedish
National Grid is not the principal. Each drawing number comprises a 7-digit number
preceded by a format character.
3.2.2 Revision/change notification
Documentation supplied during a project shall include a revision letter (A, B, C, …) to
show that it is not an “As Built” revision.
No revision changes may be made in the as-built documents submitted to the customer
as the final documentation, i.e. the change notification shall be empty.
Documents changed after the final documentation has been delivered shall include a
revision number (1, 2, 3, …)
3.2.3 Site and group numbers
The site and group number must always be specified, as this information constitutes a
search path for the drawings in the document system.
TECHNICAL GUIDELINE 2014-02-03 TR08-02 VERSION 3
9/23
Each installation has a site number which can have two to four digits. Lists have been
drawn up of the site numbers for the installations. Site numbers for new installations
are designated by Swedish National Grid.
The group number designates the function in the installation to which the drawing
refers. The group numbers are set out in specific group number lists. Swedish National
Grid designates which group number list shall apply to each station and line.
3.2.4 Company name
The company name shall always be entered by whoever creates the drawing.
3.2.5 Company logo
A contractor’s company logo may be placed solely where agreed between the
contractor and Swedish National Grid’s document manager.
3.2.6 Document type
The document types to be used are being examined and have not yet been designated
in this version of TR08-02. Until further notice, the document types in “Annex B” shall
be used; any divergences from this shall be agreed with Swedish National Grid. The
formats indicated by a cross (”X”) are mandatory, i.e. wherever a cross is placed, e.g.
DWG and PDF-A, deliveries shall be made in both formats.
3.2.7 Document status
The document status shows where the document is located in its life cycle. The status
is specified in UPPER CASE as shown below:
DESIGN DOCUMENT
CONSTRUCTION DOCUMENT
AS-BUILT DOCUMENT
4 Technical points relating to new drawings
4.1 General Approved formats are .dwg (AutoCAD) and .xlsx (Excel).
4.1.1 File name
The file name shall comprise Swedish National Grid’s drawing number, without any
preceding format characters. The drawing number shall be followed by sheet number
and revision.

A revised as-built document’s file name is: 4009787_0001_rev1
4.2 CAD drawings External references “xref” must not be used. All elements must be editable in the basic
version of AutoCAD.
All layers shall be activated, with the exception of the circuit diagram, where auxiliary
layers are permitted and shall be deactivated.
In addition, drawings shall be cleared via a purge command. Use the “Zoom Extents”
command to check that no unnecessary elements are present outside the drawing
frame.
4.2.1 File format
Unless otherwise agreed, drawings shall always be supplied in the Autodesk dwg-
format in the version of AutoCAD which applies within Swedish National Grid’s
standard installation at the time of the contract.
4.2.2 Drawing frame
Each drawing file shall contain only one drawing frame/sheet, i.e. it is not permitted to
draw several sheets in the same file.
The following drawing frames apply:
A1.dwg
A1S.dwg (portrait A1)
A2.dwg
A3.dwg
A4.dwg
A4L.dwg (landscape A4)

Drawing frames must NOT be changed, i.e. exploded, and “saved as” or linked to other
blocks.
The latest version of the drawing frame shall be used for every new drawing. No
information may be placed outside the drawing frame.
4.2.3 Name on the drawing frame
The drawing frame’s name is located in the template supplied by Swedish National
Grid, and is shown on the dialogue box “Enhanced Attribute Editor” in AutoCAD. The
frame shall have one of the following designations, depending on the drawing format:
TECHNICAL GUIDELINE 2014-02-03 TR08-02 VERSION 3
11/23
A1, A1S, A2, A3, A4, A4L
NB. The frame’s name must not be changed. If the name is changed, the dwg file
cannot be automatically scanned into Swedish National Grid’s Banken document
system.
4.2.4 Layers
The following layers accompany the drawing frame and must not be used for other
information.
Layer content Layer
Drawing frame with all text “Bl”
Crop marks “Marg”
Other information is to be located in other layers where the supplier has free access.
4.2.5 Fonts
The ISOCP text format with the ISOCP.shx font file shall be used for text in the
drawing header. Apart from ISOCP, AutoCAD’s other standard fonts are also
acceptable for the contents of the drawing.
4.2.6 Language
As a main rule, all drawings shall be provided with Swedish text. Any exceptions from
this rule shall be approved in writing by Swedish National Grid.
4.2.7 Model space
All parts of the drawing – i.e. the design drawing plus the drawing frame, shall be
located in the model space. (Paper space is not permitted.)
4.2.8 Drawing scale
The contents of the drawing shall be at a scale of 1:1, apart from sections and views.
4.2.9 Plotting scale
All drawings shall always have one (1) main scale, and the drawing frame shall be
scaled up by the same factor. If several scales are to be used, it must be clearly shown
on the drawing which part and what scale apply.
The following main scales shall apply (SS-ISO 5455):
1:1, 1:2, 1:5, 1:10, 1:20, 1:50, 1:100, 1:200, 1:500, 1:1 000, 1:2 000, 1:5 000, 1:10 000

5 Revision of drawings
Change notifications with numbers shall always be provided.
When existing General Drawings are revised, nothing may be deleted from the
drawings, only additions are permitted. Information may only be removed from site-
specific drawings.
Cable lists are not lent out. The supplier receives a copy of the original into which the
assigned cable number is entered. Text to be entered into the cable list shall be in red
and text to be removed shall be in yellow.
In the event of changes to existing cabinets, the documentation unit should be
contacted.
5.1 CAD drawings The same requirements apply as for new drawings. CAD drawings from AutoCAD
version R10 and up to and including the latest version may be found in Swedish
National Grid’s document archives.
5.2 Excel documents The same requirements apply as for new drawings. Documents from earlier versions of
Excel may be found in Swedish National Grid’s document archives.
5.3 TIFF drawings Scanned drawings are in TIFF format with a minimum resolution of 300 dpi and may
not be changed and rescanned by the contractor. Scanned documents shall be
processed with an image processing programme if required to enhance the quality.
The file name must contain drawing/document numbers and sheet number.
5.4 Physical originals Changes in physical originals must always be initiated by Swedish National Grid.
5.5 Redrawing of originals If any drawings are redrawn, all applicable information from the old drawing must be
transferred to the new one. This also applies to the information in the drawing header,
e.g. “Drawn by”. If a drawing is redrawn, a revision note must be entered with the text
“Redrawn” plus an explanatory text about the changes made. In the event of
redrawing, the physical original shall always be transferred to an electronic form. The

superseded original shall be returned with a note that the drawing has been redrawn
(not cancelled).
5.5.1 Revision notes
Revised numbering shall be applied (1, 2, 3, …) if any approved as-built
drawings/documents from Swedish National Grid’s archives are redrawn. A revised
lettering code may be found on older drawings, but this shall be translated into
numbers. If, for example, revision C exists, the next revision shall be 4 (not D).
See also the rules for revision notes under Section 3.2.2.
5.6 Cancellation of original drawings Swedish National Grid’s documentation unit always implements cancellations.
Drawings which are no longer valid shall be cancelled. Lent-out drawings which are to
be cancelled shall be returned to Swedish National Grid’s documentation unit.
A cancellation message containing all drawing and sheet numbers in tabular form shall
be created. This message shall be signed by the company with date and name.
