Home from Home?Seeking Sanctuary in Swansea16 June - 31 August

Gallery 1Everybody needs a safe home, butmany people across the world havebeen forced to leave home becauseof violence or persecution. Some ofthese people come to Swansea.

This powerful new temporaryexhibition explores their stories,their fears and their hopes for thefuture as they attempt to rebuildtheir lives in Swansea.

The exhibition is a collaborationbetween Swansea Museum,Swansea City of Sanctuary,Swansea Bay Asylum SeekersSupport Group, Asylum Voices andDisplaced People in Action.

This exhibition explores thecontrasting fortunes that theCopper industry brought toSwansea. Tros Gynnal Plant Charity Art Exhibition6 - 30 September

Gallery 1Artists from all over Wales havedonated art work to help benefitthe Tros Gynnal Plant children’srights charity. The exhibitionshowcases some of the mostinnovative art found in Walestoday including paintings,drawings and prints, textiles,photographs, ceramics,sculpture, jewellery and glass.The art work goes to Auction inNovember with all proceedsgoing to the charity.

Cynhelir ocsiwn i werthu’r gwaithcelf ym mis Tachwedd gyda’r hollelw’n mynd i’r elusen.

Gallery 1This new temporary exhibitiontraces the remarkable life of thefamous Swansea Missionary GriffithJohn who went to China in 1855and stayed for over fifty years. He travelled the country extensively,where he was a widely popularfigure, and set up schools, hospitalsand colleges. Amongst thehighlights on display will be anumber of Chinese banners whichJohn donated to the Museum.
