Ayrsuite Plus 4CD InformationIf you have not already received our AyrSuite Plus 4 Software,

Installing AyrSuite Plus 4 allows you to design and detail a
comprehensive range of Ayrshire products, including SwageBeam.
The design software allows you to indentify quickly and accurately
the optimum beam size for each application. Cantilever cases for
both primary and secondary beams are included. Further checks,
confirm the suitability or otherwise of the standard post sizes.
The beam and accessory detailing software, will generate material
lists and automatically price the order contents. Simply email the
electronic order file generated by the software, to enable the
quick and efficient processing of your orders through to delivery.
A printout of the design calculations can be submitted as part of
your package for building regulation approval if required.
The CD ROM which is illustrated below includes intuitive short
Demos, Quick Tours and On-Line Help.

Enhanced SwageBeam PerformanceThose who use SwageBeam will notice the enhanced
performance resulting from the adoption of higher grade
S390GD steel.
Ayrsuite Plus 4 SoftwareThe AyrSuite Plus 4 CD is a compilation of design, detailing and
ordering software covering the Ayrshire range of products. It includes
comprehensive preview demos and extensive help facilities. The
design program for SwageBeam allows you to identify quickly and
accurately the correct beam size for each application. A hard copy of
the design can be printed and submitted where required, as part of
your package for building regulation approval. The detailing software
allows you to electronically specify, detail and cost the beams and
accessories required for your particular order.
The days are long gone since the company built
ships. Since then Ayrshire Metal Products has
developed and expanded around its core
business, the manufacture of cold rolled and
pressed metal profiles. We have earned an
enviable reputation for innovation and quality,
the result of many years experience.
We manufacture a range of Ayrshire designed
and patented products of which SwageBeam
is one. Other construction systems include
AyrHousing, AyrFrame building modules, the
Ayrshire Steel Framing range of load bearing
stud and track profiles and AyrTruss lattice
beams and trusses.
Another aspect of our business is the jobbing
market, for which Ayrshire manufactures
profiles to our customer’s own specification.
Examples include various components used in
the transport industry. Other examples include
storage racking, trailers, prefabricated buildings
and many more.
The following pages include many of the
improvements resulting from our policy of
continuous product development. The brochure
is supplemented by comprehensive design,
detailing and ordering software, which is
available free on request. There is also the
added support provided by our technical and
sales staff based at our Daventry office and
out in the field.
Our products are manufactured in accordance with
BS EN 1090-1 & 1090-2 to execution class 4.

Many of our customers have adopted
SwageBeam to meet their own requirements and
those of their customers. Applications are as
diverse as the product itself as illustrated below.
Mezzanine Floors
Various options are available to those wishing to
build storage platforms and mezzanine floors.
SwageBeam floor beams can be used throughout
as in the case of our Slimline ‘220’ and Slimline
‘300’ systems or alternatively with heavy hot rolled
main beams. A comprehensive range of
accessories completes the package.
SwageBeam Portal Framed Building
System: The Award Winner
Our system is a fast and economic method of
creating single and multiple span buildings.
SwageBeam is used throughout in conjunction with
specially designed eaves and ridge brackets to
create a lightweight high performance structure.
A total package from design through to completion
is available.
Prefabricated Modular Buildings
SwageBeam can be found in many of today’s
lightweight modular buildings. We have worked
closely with prefabricated building companies to
develop robust and cost effective designs for
both cabins and modules. With such a diverse
range of sizes available, we have beams to suit
most requirements.

SwageBeam Specification
Beams are made from grade ‘S390’ galvanised steel.
BS EN 10346 is the standard code of practice for the specification of hot dipped zinc coated steel stripfor cold formed sections.
Whilst this code does not explicitly carry a standard specification for ‘S390’ material, an appropriatetechnical description can be calculated that complies with the principles given in Table 1 of this code.
These structural parameters are defined as follows:
Yield strength ReH = 390N/mm2 guaranteed minimum valueTensile strength Rm = 468N/mm2 minimum value(i.e. 1.2 Yield strength in accordance with the design code BS5950: Part 5: 1998)
Elongation A80 = 14%
All other technical delivery conditions for the coating, surface finish, quality and treatment, as defined inBS EN 10346 are satisfied. Hence the material reference is ‘S39OGD+Z275’-N-A-C zinc coated steel, with aminimum guaranteed yield strength of 390N/mm2.
End Cleat SpecificationStandard end cleats are made from Grade S390GD+Z275-N-A-C zinc coated steel, with a minimumguaranteed yield strength of 390N/mm2 to BS EN 10326.
Column Bracket SpecificationThe CB220 and CTB300 column brackets are made from Grade S315 steel to BS EN 10149-2:1996Supplied unpainted.

Safe Load Tables and Ayrsuite Plus 4 SoftwareThe calculation of structural properties for SwageBeam is in accordance with BS5950:Part 5:1998 using the yieldand tensile strengths as defined above. Test data has also been analysed to confirm full compliance with theprinciples adopted.
The tables shown in this manual are based on applying unfactored loads i.e. the tabulated capacities are safe working loads.
Self weight has already been deducted.
Secondary beam load tables as detailed in the Ayrsuite Plus 4 software and shown on p15 & p16 are valid providing:
• Loads are evenly distributed i.e. UDL (uniformly distributed load)• Top Flange is fully restrained i.e. deck fixings at 60Omm maximum pitch• Beams erected with toes towards each other, refer detail page 13• Bottom flange restrained by tie rods fixed between pairs of beams i.e. mid-span 2.5<6.0m, 1/3,rd points >6.Om• Standard end cleats are used• Two washers are used i.e. one under nut, one under head
