TECHNICAL INFORMATION

Architectural glass is a durable, practical and versatile material and throughout history has been privileged

for its powerful aesthetic effect – a key factor of contemporary architecture.

Our production processes allow a maximum sheet size of 321cm x 225cm.

Thickness/weight specification: ≠ 6mm – 15kg/m2

≠ 8mm – 20kg/m2

≠ 10mm – 25kg/m2

≠ 12mm – 30kg/m2

Applications

Textured glass – offers almost unlimited possibilities in design of interior and exterior architectural elements.

This type of glass has a unique ability to perform as a decorative feature as well as a functional and

structural building material. Textured glass is bursting in originality in many ways.

Tint glass – is created using textured glass with metallic colours. The interplay of transparency and colour

creates a fascinating atmosphere. Adding colour we can translate the client’s design or concept or to create

something very individual for you in glass; decorative, functional, structural.

Painted glass – it's another exciting option in which we excel using sprayed opaque colours only. Colours:

any RAL or Pantone number. Painted glass has a wide range of uses in domestic and commercial spaces

and it is a pioneering and contemporary alternative to ceramic tiles. These panels are ideal for kitchen

splash backs and worktops, bathroom cladding and surfaces. Daring colours skillfully blend in with other

interior elements, including unforeseen textures as well as bold motifs evoking contrast and comfort

throughout.

Gilded glass – a traditional technique of gilding which can be used in a wide range of interior accessories

and products to achieve an impressive effect. Gold, silver and copper leaf are stencilled onto the glass

creating a reflective, decorative surface pattern. Panels, mirrors, screens, wall art could be decorated using

this classical technique.

Toughened (or tempered) glass is a type of safety glass that has increased strength and will usually shatter

in small, square pieces when broken. It is used when strength, thermal resistance and safety are important

considerations. In commercial structures it is used in unframed assemblies such as frameless doors,

structurally loaded applications and door lights and vision lights adjacent to doors. Toughened glass is

typically four to six times the strength of annealed glass.

Our desire for expansion created a need to discover and develop new techniques:

1. Acid embossing: NO, we do not use acid – although we can use paint to achieve a similar effect.

2. Moulded, textured and shaded sandblasting – new sandblasting equipment was installed in our studio

and we are currently developing techniques to perfect other Svaja “experiences”

3. Handmasking – an important part in the creation of architectural glass

4. Computer graphics

5. Gilding and UV bonding
