WHAT IS INNOWOOD?
INNOWOOD is sustainable timber alternative and 100% recyclable, low VOC emissions, energy efficiency ecofriendly material.
WHY IS INNOWOOD BETTER THAN TRADITIONAL TIMBER?
INNOWOOD looks and feels like real timber without its inherent shortcomings such as timber’s tendency to crack, warp, split or rot over time. INNOWOOD is also low maintenance, lightweight, and resistant to termites, water and fire. Unlike traditional timber, INNOWOOD is self-extinguishing if subjected to fire.
HOW DURABLE IS INNOWOOD?
INNOWOOD is resistant to fire, water and termites. It also discourages the growth of mould and mildew, is low maintenance and maximum lifespan.
HOW DOES THE PRICE OF INNODECK COMPARE WITH TRADITIONAL TIMBER DECK?
While the initial cost to build a pine or hardwood deck may be lower, the value of an INNOWOOD deck truly comes into its own over the longer term, easy to install and low maintenance and significant cost and time savings.
IS INNODECK SUITABLE AROUND POOLS?
INNOWOOD is suitable around pools, spas, boardwalks and all marine environments as it is impervious to saltwater.
HOW SAFE IS INNOWOOD?
INNOWOOD is non toxic, splinter-proof, making it ideal for children and bare feet. Also, INNOWOOD is Fire retardant, non-combustible and self-extinguishing material.
WILL INNOWOOD BOARDS MOVE UNDERFOOT?
INNOWOOD is unaffected
by moisture absorption but consideration should be given to ambient temperature and direct sunlight when initially laying boards as the deck will stabilise in its new environment. INNOWOOD will not shrink across the board’s width but, as is the case with timber tongue and groove boards, some seasoning of the INNOWOOD boards prior to installation will minimise possible movement in the board’s length caused by variations in individual board temperatures.
DOES INNOWOOD VARY IN COLOUR?
Because INNOWOODis made predominantly from timber hardwood waste, colour will vary slightly according to the hardwood species used in its manufacture. It is therefore recommended that all boards be sourced from the same production batch if possible.
WILL INNOWOOD FADE?
INNOWOOD is like natural timber, fading over time and depending upon the amount of sunlight. INNOWOOD water-based coating will protect the composite timberfrom fading when exposed to the sun and foot traffic for 1-5 years.
HOW DO I MAINTAIN INNOWOOD BOARDS?
To maintain the finish and extend the life of your INNOWOOD boards, regular simple maintenance is recommended. To protect the colour of your boards an INNOWOOD sealer should be applied following installation. A regular simple cleaning routine is important to keep your INNOWOOD boards looking their best. Simply remove surface dirt by sweeping or washing down the boards with water.
HOW DO I RECOAT MY INNOWOOD BOARDS?
To apply a maintenance coat to a surface that is in good condition, simply clean the surface with Methylated Spirits and apply one coat of INNOWOOD Sealer.
The first indication of the need for recoating will be observed as patchiness or discolouration on the edges and on areas where insufficient sealer had been applied initially.
WHAT FINISHES DO INNOWOOD BOARDS COME IN?
Smooth, Slightly Sanded and Industrial Sanded.
HOW MANY STANDARD COLOUR DO INNOWOOD BOARDS COME IN?
Spotted Gum, Weathered Wood, Red Cedar, Iron Bark and Teak.
HOW SHOULD INNOWOOD BOARDS BE HANDLED?
INNOWOOD boards should be handled with care when loading and unloading (do not drop on the ground), stored undercover on a flat surface and supported at 600mm centres until ready to be installed.
HOW DOES INNOWOOD PERFORM IF EXPOSED TO FIRE?
INNOWOOD Composite Timber has achieved a CSIRO Fire Hazard Rating of 2, meaning it is a fire retardant, non-combustible, self-extinguishing material.
WHAT IS INNOCOAT?
InnoCoat is INNOWOOD’s exclusive water-based sealer. It is a non-hazardous, non- flammable, non-toxic, low odour and lead free product.
IS INNOWOOD GUARANTEED TO PERFORM?
INNOWOOD products and systems are manufactured by a fully accredited manufacturer of wood composite products with ISO 9001:2000 Certification. As a result, INNOWOOD products are backed by a 7-year limited warranty. Please visit www.innowood.com. Hard copy can be provided upon request.
Maintenance CoatingINNOWOOD - wood composite products are like any wood product, coating is required depending upon location to sun or how much pedestrian traffic it attracts. If INNOWOOD is not applied with a coating, when exposed to UV, INNOWOOD will oxidise and show discolouration, the colour will revert to its silver / grey colour, however it can be and revived by re-coating or stained should this be desired.
Best protection of INNOWOOD board is ensured by applying the coating prior to installation.
To apply a maintenance coat, First indication of the need for recoating will be observed as patchiness or discolorations. Clean the surface of the board’s prior to applying a new coat, lightly sand the surface using 120 to 180 grit sand paper (test small area first), wash INNOWOOD thoroughly with Methylated Spirits allow to evaporate and recoat with InnoCoat as per application instructions on the container.
Material Handling Guidelines / StorageINNOWOOD boards should not be stored in the open or covered wrapped with plastic sheet, INNOWOOD board is finished product, do not dump or drop when loading or unloading.
INNOWOOD boards should be carried on its edge, for better support.
When removing INNOWOOD boards, do not slide boards against each other, lift the boards and set them down.
INNOWOOD boards should be unpacked, stored in dry and flat surface supported at 600mm centre.
When handling INNOWOOD boards take care to minimize scratches, nicks or to prevent damage the boards.
INNOWOOD board should be stored under cover until ready to install.
Finish & ColourINNOWOOD has a look and feel that is very similar to natural timber. Supplied with a smooth or brushed surface finish, your INNOWOOD product is available in
your choice of a wide range of natural wood grain timber colours.
INNOWOOD’s original mill finish is uncoated, which is suitable for indoor applications. To extend the life of your INNOWOOD product and retain its colour, the application of a water-based, UV protective composite timber sealer is recommended.
InnoCoat is a water-based UV protective composite timber sealer that has been specifically formulated to protect the surface, reduce the maintenance and extend the life of INNOWOOD products.
When InnoCoat is applied to INNOWOOD products that are kept outdoors, the coating has a life expectancy of 1-5 years. How long your coating will last depend on the following factors:
• Wear and tear• Amount of sunlight, precipitation
and debris• Foot traffic
It is time to re-apply InnoCoat when your INNOWOOD surface begins to show signs of fading or dullness. We recommend conducting routine 12-monthly maintenance inspections to determine when it’s time to reapply InnoCoat. Quick and easy to apply, InnoCoat will instantly bring back the colour to your INNOWOOD product.
For a slip resistant finish, we recommend you add InnoCoat Grip to the InnoCoat coating.
INNOWOOD mill finish is available in five standard natural wood grain colours.
Care & MaintenanceINNOWOOD is an advanced composite material does not splinter, mildew, is water, fire resistance and termite proof. It is also simple and easy to maintain. INNOWOOD products are low-maintenance material; composite wood requires simple care and handling to ensure lasting integrity. We recommend conducting 6 monthly inspections.
