The Sussex Village Boardapproved a contract for the finaldesign of a new civic center campus Jan. 27.
According to a statement issuedby the village, the village will be work-ing with the Kahler Slater and Ruekert-Mielke firms over the next few monthsto finalize the design and take the vil-lage through bidding for constructionof a new civic center campus.
The action is the latest step in thecivic campus process. Earlier thismonth, a committee recommended thenew facility to replace the currentVillage Hall, which originally was aschool building. Conceptual designsfor a three-story building were pre-sented at a Jan. 20 public informationmeeting.
According to information previous-ly announced by the village, the pro-posed new civic center will havespace for the library, village adminis-tration and park and recreationdepartments, along with offices forSussex Area Outreach Services, theHorne-Mudlitz Veterans of ForeignWars Post, the Sussex-Lisbon AreaHistorical Society and the Chamber of
Commerce. In the motion approved by the
board, the village addressed the con-cerns of residents who want to keepthe existing schoolhouse building.
The construction of a new CivicCampus results in the building beingavailable for acquisition in 2017, thevillage said in a statement.
The village said it would exploreproposals for converting the school-house to another use as long as vil-lage ownership or operation would
not be part of any proposal. The vil-lage stated that any proposal for anew use for the schoolhouse wouldhave to indicate how the buildingwould be acquired, used or relocatedand how that would be compatiblewith the civic center area. Any pro-posals for the schoolhouse buildingwould have to be submitted by July2016 and would have to include costsand evidence of how the building con-

Drs. Richard and Bruce Winter
Dear Dr. Winter, I have heard about some newerdentures recently called CAD/CAM dentures. Do you dothese and what are the advantages of this type of denture?
Dear James, I have been at the forefront of denturetechnology for many years and currently lecture aboutdenture technology to other dentists. In our office weoffer Deluxe Turbyfill dentures, CAD/CAM denturesand standard economy dentures.
The differences between these types of dentures have
to do with the amount of time taken to make the dentures, the processing technique and the quality and type of denture teeth selected.
There are currently two types of CAD/CAM orcomputer aided design and computer aidedmanufacturing companies making dentures. One type of denture the Dentca denture is an extremely accuratelyfitting denture that can be fabricated in as few as twovisits. This technique involves taking a highly accurateimpression and bite registration at the first visit and thenat the second visit delivering the denture! An optionaltry-in appointment is also available. These dentures arebeautiful and extremely accurate. The advantage of milled dentures is that once the denture is designed it canbe remade in 2 days! The computer can simply printanother denture if one is ever lost. Patients must realizethat gum tissues can change so there may be a need toreline a reprinted set or take a new impression if gumchanges have occurred. The material that is used to printthe dentures is non-porous and remains color stablewithout incurring as much stain as traditional dentures aswell.
Turbyfill deluxe dentures can take 5-7 visits anddenture teeth are set with the patient present over a two-hour appointment. These are highly characterizedbeautiful dentures but now with a new computerdesigned denture we can make dentures in far fewervisits. We offer consultations to any of our readers to seeif Dentca dentures may be right for you.
Dear Dr. Winter I have severe tetracycline staining onmy teeth and I am very embarrassed to smile. What canI do about this?
Dear Suzanne, there are many ways to try and
improve tetracycline stained smiles. For mild cases weoffer different whitening options from Zoom AdvancedPower to Kor advanced deep bleaching. These canoften eliminate the need for veneers or crowns to coverdarker stains. For patients with gray teeth or dark bandsof brown and gray then veneers or porcelain crownsmay be required to block out the dark color of theunderlying tooth structure.
We invite our readers to call us at 414-464-9021 toschedule your denture, implant or cosmetic consultationvisit or comprehensive exam and x-ray appointment. Please read Dr. Winters articles atwww.hamptondentalassociates.com
His latest implant articles were published inNovember 2014 and January 2015 in Dentistry Today.

The play was written by Jessie Jones,Nicholas Hope and Jamie Wooten, thesame trio that wrote Dixie Swim Club, which was staged by the Patio Players inFebruary 2014.
Mama Won't Fly was written by thesame authors who brought us Dixie SwimClub last year, and since it is a newershow we thought we would jump right onit, Director Karen McKinney said.
She added that the play has a goodnumber of people in the cast so we cangive more people an opportunity. Threeof the roles are performed by one actoreach while six other actors play all theother characters the three leads meetalong the way. The actors are backed up

The village makes no guarantee thatany proposal will be accepted, but as in allmatters, the Village Board will carefullyconsider the facts and information avail-able, the village said in statement.
The motion to accept the contract forthe final design was approved by theboard by a 7-0 vote.
Village Administrator Jeremy Smithlater told the Express News that direct leg-islation petitions that were submitted by res-idents which would have required thematter be voted on by residents did notmeet the conditions set by the state law fol-lowing a review by the village clerk. The
petitions were sent back to the residents, who have been given 10 days to rectify thepetitions to comply with the state law.

The teams stayed close through thethird quarter and Whitefish Bay took a 44-42 lead with 2:31 remaining. KenzieSchmitz scored on a layup with 2:20remaining. She then converted a three pointbasket with 1:31 remaining to give theWarhawks a 49-46 lead. Val Meissner thenconverted four free throws in two separatetrips to the line. The final points of the gamewere scored on a long-range three pointbasket by Emma Jonas of Whitefish Bay atthe buzzer.
It was pretty ominous when we missedthree (three point baskets) on the first pos-
session that it was going to be a toughshooting night, Germantown Coach MattStuve said afterward. But Monica
(Hubrich) came off the bench and wastremendous. (She) hit some big shots andkept us in it.
Meissner led Germantown with 15points while Reed led all scorers with 18points. With the win, Germantown held a9-0 North Shore Conference record afterthe win. All other teams in the conferencehave at least two losses.
Five games left in the conference sea-son, still having that two game cushion iskey because we still have Cedarburg andHomestead coming up, Stuve said. Thisone is big as far still having some leeway.
Germantown started last week with a60-52 win over Kettle Moraine Lutheran Jan. 27. Val Meissner led Germantown with19 points while Mikayla Voigt led KettleMoraine Lutheran with 22 points. With thewin, Germantown improved its overallrecord to 14-2.

Maya Angelou, George WashingtonCarver, Dominique Dawes, FrederickDouglass and Jackie Robinson just someof the many notable African-Americanswho have made an impact on Americanhistory. Black History Month recognizesthem, and all African-Americans, for thecontributions they have made to Americanhistory.
February is Black History Month, a cel-ebration of the accomplishments of African-Americans, past and present. But it wasn'talways a month-long event. It began as anotion of just one man, Dr. Carter G.Woodson.
Born to former slaves James and Eliza,Woodson spent much of his childhood
working in the coal mines of Kentucky. Toobusy and too poor to attend school regu-larly, he taught himself the basics, enrolledin high school at age 20 and graduatedtwo years later. Woodson attended BereaCollege in Kentucky, and after just twoyears of s tudy, graduated in 1901. He wenton to earn a Ph.D. from Harvard in 1912.
During his studies Woodson made astartling discovery: There was very little dis-cussion of African-Americans in Americanhistory books and what little there was wasoften wrong. To correct the situation,Woodson took steps to write African-Americans into the nation's history. Hefounded the Association for the Study ofNegro Life and History in Chicago onSeptember 9, 1915, and a year later, thepublication Journal of Negro History. In
1926, he established Negro History Weekin February to focus national attention onthe contributions made by African-Americans to American history.
Why Woodson decided to hold NegroHistory Week in February is a topic ofgreat debate. Some say he did so to honorthe birthdays of Abraham Lincoln andFrederick Douglass. Others argue he choseFebruary in honor of the 13th Amendment,
which abolished slavery. Althamendment was signed in Januan't until February that slaves sting the news.
Woodson died April 3, 1Negro History Week lived on. Sby the African-American comm1960s, it was renamed BlackWeek. In 1975 in response to SenWarner's call for organizations tothing special in honor of the biWoodson's association, now cAssociation for the Study of AfrLife and History (ASALH), tHistory Week into Black Histand provided a theme for the msub-themes for each week.
Today the association consponsor the event and designat
theme every year. It also produkits and other materials to helcolleges and other organizationsthe event. For more informationhow you can get involved, cASALH or check out its www.asalh.com. From the notione man, Dr. Woodson G. CartHistory Month has evolved intoing tribute to African-American

By Bob GrimsonGeorge Washington Carver was born
into slavery in Missouri sometime in the1860s. Through hard work and persever-ance, he would become one of this country'sgreatest educators and researchers.
Forced to live on his own at a young ageafter his mother was kidnapped by slavetraders, Carver was an observer of life andthe world, developing an interest in plants. He managed to finish high school and attendboth Simpson College and Iowa AgriculturalCollege (now Iowa State University), earninga bachelor's and a master's degree. While incollege, Carver showed his talents in manyareas. He led the YMCA and the debateclub, attained the highest student rank in thecampus military unit, published poetry andeven had a pair of paintings on display at theWorld's Fair in Chicago in 1893.
Carver's knowledge of plants was sothorough that he was asked to become IowaAgricultural College's first African-Americanfaculty member in 1894. In 1896, he joinedBooker T. Washington at the famed TuskegeeInstitute and directed its agricultural researchuntil his death in 1943. Carver believed thatresearch should have practical value andhelp people. He used the idea of agriculturalextension to benefit farmers in the South bytaking agricultural knowledge directly tothem and their farms. While at Tuskegee,Carver discovered more than 300 products
that could be made from peanuts and over100 from sweet potatoes and encouragedsouthern farmers to end their reliance on cot-ton and diversify with peanuts, sweet pota-toes and peas.
A winner of the prestigious SpingarnPrize, the highest award given by theNAACP, Carver took almost his entire life'ssavings and used it to start the GeorgeWashington Carver Foundation to continuehis work. He was buried on the campus ofTuskegee Institute, next to his friend Booker T.Washington. The recipient of many honorsbefore his death, Carver was honoredposthumously with special postage stampsand election to both the Hall of Fame ofGreat Americans and the National InventorsHall of Fame.
