It’s hard to believe that in just a few short years the Rialto Theater will be celebrating 100 years of providing Loveland and Northern Colorado residents with world-class music, arts, and entertainment. As we close in on our Centennial Celebration, we are continuing to innovate and improve the way you experience theater at the Rialto. The first change you may notice is that
the Rialto Theater now has an AHA! brochure of our own. We are also excited to announce that we have added a brand new series called “Rialto Presents.”
This series runs from September through April and will bring to the stage twelve diverse, world-class shows. Featuring everything from music, to comedy, to illusion, Rialto Presents has flexible season ticket packages that allows you to either choose all 12 shows or pick your favorite six shows, or more, to begin enjoying substantial discounts. These packages allow you to choose your seats and select the shows in your custom ticket package a full month before single tickets go on sale to the general public.
And this is just the tip of the iceberg. The Rialto continues its long tradition of quality independent cinema with the return of the Phyllis Walbye Series. This series, which began in 2001, focuses on obscure, cultural films that are not offered in traditional movie houses. Don’t forget to join us at Halloween and Christmas when we feature themed movies that will enhance your holiday experience. Lastly, we are thrilled to share with you the programming events of our Rialto Partners who have a long history of producing outstanding performances at the Rialto.
Join us for a season of excellence at the Rialto: the Heart of the Arts in Loveland.

On May 26, 1920, the Rialto Theater opened its doors for the first time. The event was the grand opening of Bank of Loveland president William C. Vorreiter’s vision of a world-class movie palace in the heart of downtown Loveland, Colorado. That night, 1,014 little wooden seats were filled to capacity
with an audience of locals who watched a double feature of Desert Wheat and The Dew Drop Inn backed by a small orchestra.
In May 2020, the Rialto Theater will celebrate its 100th Anniversary as the entertainment heart of downtown Loveland. No longer just a movie theater, the Rialto Theater Center is a
18
performing arts center – a place where the community can meet to enjoy a wide range of entertainment: music, dance, plays, stand-up comedy and, yes, movies. Additionally, the Rialto Theater Center hosts a variety of rental partners who present a range of unique events and performances to the Loveland community.
In advance of the 100th Anniversary, we will be sharing stories, anecdotes, historical information, and perhaps a tall tale or two about the Rialto. We hope this “Stories of the Historic Rialto Theater” section teaches you something new, helps recall a fond memory or two, and gives you a deeper appreciation for the history of this beloved landmark.
