INTRODUCTION
Since the dawn of time, differences between genders have always found their way
into controversial sexuality. In most parts of society and cultures, the prevailing
notion was that the man is the head of the family. The man is seen as a provider
and protector of the family. In the ancient times, the man protected his family
from wild animals, and committed himself to make shelter or find caves to live in
so that his family would be shielded from elements and other dangerous,
prowling predators. It has been a duty most men have carried out without much
question, as it also seems to be a responsibility deeply ingrained in their psyche,
a responsibility that when carried out well, brings about a sense of fulfillment and
deep satisfaction.
A man’s love for his family has no borders. It is an intrinsic part of being a man.
It drives men to do exceedingly great feats. Some of history’s greatest
endeavors were the result of a man trying to win the heart of a loved one. And no
one is dearer to a man than his wife. However, when the ability to please his
partner disappears, it causes great distress. It is often a burden that the man
cannot share with his partner, and one to which only a few close compatriots may
be privy to. Why is this the case?

There are two things in life which most men cannot lose - respect and pride. Men
want to be respected, especially by their partner, children and loved ones. Men
want to feel significant, necessary, valued, and appreciated. They want to know
that all their hard work has a purpose, recognition and that their partner
appreciates just how hard they are working to build a better life for them.
One of the most common causes of depression and suicide among men, is the
overwhelming pressure that comes with the need to provide, protect and please
their family. When a man is able to do the aforementioned, life moves along pretty
well. But when things go south and a man is unable to continue providing for his
family, maybe due to a financial crisis or being laid off from work, it may be very
difficult for that man to continue being happy and content.
When the problem is sexual, and a man is unwillingly unable to please his
partner, this can have a devastating effect on the whole relationship. One of the
main causes of sexual frustration in men, is a common disorder that is spoken of,
but only in whispers --- erectile dysfunction.
Reactions And Erectile Dysfunction
More than 90 million men worldwide are estimated to suffer from erectile
dysfunction (ED), of which a staggering 90% do not seek medical attention or any
kind of treatment for that matter, generally out of embarrassment.
ED is a fairly easily curable condition often caused by poor blood flow to the male
organ, stress and following an unhealthy diet. But many men are not aware of this
and often blame it on genetics whilst most have no answer for it, and some even
attribute it to black magic!
Nearly 80% of people who took part in a study in the US reported saying that
during a general checkup with their doctor, they never considered bringing up the
subject of ED for fear of embarrassment and out of fear of finding out that there is
no cure!
So just what is this disorder that haunts many a men and threatens the between
them and their partner? Let’s take a closer look at erectile dysfunction, see what it
is and if we can dispel some myths in the process.

Erectile Dysfunction Uncovered
We’ve all sat uncomfortably in class during those sex education talks given by
equally uncomfortable teachers who consciously rushed through the lesson
before warning sternly of the consequence of premarital sex and sexual
promiscuity. Then they went on to pass around brochures with horrific images of
people with sexually transmitted diseases inside them. This the first
misconception many men have. You cannot get erectile dysfunction from sexually
transmitted diseases. It is not the result of a virus that you think you
contracted and neither is it caused by your genes. Surprised? Well, you are
not the only one. So what does cause ED?
Let’s go back to that sex education class for a minute, but this time we are going
to study the structure of the human male sexual organ.
The human male sexual organ can be studied by dividing it into two halves
named the corpora cavernosa. Inside these chambers you will find a special
tissue resembling a sponge which is made up of an intrinsic network of blood
vessels.
Survive in Bed
11
In order for a man to achieve an erection when aroused, the blood capillaries must
be functioning well, in other words there must be free flow of blood without
obstruction. During an erection, the walls of these blood vessels relax and allow
free passage and flow of blood. All this is thanks to messages passed on to nerves
in the male reproductive organ from the main command center, the brain. The
blood flowing through the capillary network in the penis arrives at a high pressure
and consequently leads to an erection.
Thus, when all is working in order, the brain issues a series of messages which
follow the spinal cord and are delivered to the nerve endings in the male
reproductive organ. Chemical messages called neurotransmitters are released
into the blood and they are responsible for all the changes that take place.
Firstly, the vessels bringing oxygen-rich blood to the corpora cavernosa receive
the order to relax. This relaxation enables the free flow of blood into the penis.
The blood entering the penis cause it to enlarge and stiffen, leading to an erection.
As you can see, getting an erection is a fairly straightforward process. So
where does the problem lie when a man cannot have an erection?
Problems start to arise when the blood vessels are blocked or somehow
damaged. Another common thing that leads to ED is when nerve endings in the
penis are not functioning properly. The tissues in your organ may also be a
contributing factor in ED. On top of that, the lack of a proper diet is often a
contributing factor to ED.
However, there is no reason for alert, because ED in the majority of cases can be
resolved. And this is exactly what this guide is meant to do. So as you can clearly
see, there is absolutely nothing to be ashamed of or be embarrassed about.
There is power in knowledge. Now you know and can potentially help someone
else or yourself. Next time someone shares something like this with you, don’t
laugh it off or shrug uncomfortably and try to change the subject. Instead, try to
shed a bit more light on the matter so that the person can get help and get their life
back. In addition, if you’re experiencing ED, you can use the valuable information
presented in this book to help resolve the problem for yourself.
So if you think you or someone you know might be struggling with ED, below are
some proven signs.

12
Proven Signs Of Erectile Dysfunction
Erections may occur even when there is no direct sexual stimulation. Wet dreams
are a frequent occurrence, especially amongst young men. However, erections
are more commonly a result of self-stimulation or arousal by being with your
sexual partner. Whatever the stimulation, the typical reaction of an aroused man
should be an erection, but when this is not the case, it is often the biggest sign
pointing to ED.
As mentioned earlier, ED may be the result of blocked blood flow to the genital
area, but the often overlooked cause of ED may be psychological reasons like
stress. In addition to stress, lifestyle choices such as maintaining an unhealthy
diet also play a huge role in exacerbating ED.
If stressful situations are resolved and one is still unable to perform sexually, it is
grounds to suspect that there may potentially be something blocking the normal
blood flow to the genitals. Or they may not be eating right. The good part is that
there is a whole diet plan in this book that you will be able to easily follow.
What’s Causing Erectile Dysfunction?
In order for a man to have and maintain erection, the following sequence of
events must happen:
The man must be sexually aroused. This automatically triggers the body in
response to the stimulus. Messages are relayed back and forth in the body,
eventually leading to an increased blood flow towards the genitals. The blood
vessels in the groin area begin to relax, thus allowing blood to flow freely into the
erectile tissue around the male reproductive organ. The veins in this erectile area
are tasked to keep the pressure of the blood in the penis, causing the male organ
to enlarge.
When this sequence of events is somehow interrupted, problems that can lead to
ED are likely to occur.
Hence most known causes of erectile dysfunction are linked to illnesses that
affect the circulatory system. So, diseases that disturb the normal flow of blood
such as atherosclerosis and venous leakage are two major culprits of ED.

13
Other factors that need to be discussed with patients include looking into the
patient’s routine and trying to determine the level of stress they face on a daily
basis. But as stated previously, lifestyle choices such as what you eat, drink, and
how well you take care of your health also play an integral role in ED.
It is not uncommon for a man to lose his job and experience erectile dysfunction. In
fact, stress related erectile dysfunction cases have gone on to show that if left
untreated, the inability of a man to please his partner can lead to yet another illness
(depression), which will further aggravate the situation. For men in new
relationships, one of the biggest pressures is performance anxiety because they
want to please their partner. Also, injuries to the penis often go unreported and
can lead to erectile dysfunction later on in life.
Age, lack of desire, chronic illness and the train load of medication that
accompanies aging men often interferes with the normal working of the penis and
genitals.
Indescribable Frustration
Like with most illnesses, ignoring the treatment method, cause, and cure of a
particular disease can lead to more worry and unnecessary anxiety. What many
people are not aware of is the fact that erectile dysfunction can be cured with
traditional, natural methods. So before jumping to conclusions or allowing
anyone else to make uninformed decisions regarding the matter, it is important to
make sure that you and others around you have a good understanding of the
concept.

Having some simple knowledge can go a long way in avoiding wasting time with
needless and even harmful actions, which can actually make things worse. Now
in this book we are going to address how you can make a full recovery and get
your full potency back.
But before that, you need to know a few things:
1. You can get better! The advice provided in this book can help you make the required lifestyle changes to get rid of ED once and for all. Never self-administer over the counter medication that has not been prescribed and do not mix medication unless specifically instructed by your physician. In fact, it’s best to stay away from medication because it always comes with unwanted side effects. Instead, you can follow the natural remedies mentioned in this guide to get better in a matter of weeks.
2. You are not alone. You can and will get through this; you need to believe that the cure is real and lasting.
3. Having your partner read with you through all the information concerning
this issue may prove to be both, a task that brings you closer, and
something that gives both of you support along the journey to recovery.
This book will not only help you along your journey, but also provide post-journey
advice on how to handle some of the branching issues that may arise from having
erectile dysfunction. The most important thing you need to remember is that your
mind will determine just how far you go. If you keep telling yourself in a negative
state, then your journey may be directly affected by these harmful thoughts. But if
you foster positive thoughts, your life will be much better.
Aftermath of Erectile Dysfunction
A couple’s intimate sex life provides pleasure and brings both partners closer on
every level. However, when that area of a couple’s life is inactive and there’s no
ideas on what to do, this can prove to be a challenge and can lead to a break up.
The inability to satisfy their partner can be helplessly frustrating for a man and
sadly annoying for the partner. Is it the end of your sex life if your partner is
suffering from erectile dysfunction? Thankfully, no, because all it takes is
knowledge on the subject and implementing the simple advice laid out in this
book. Doing all you can will help you be on your way to peak health.

Men need to realize that erectile dysfunction is highly prevalent. Millions of other
men across the world share the same plight and many of them do not get the
important help they need. Other matters pertaining to one’s sex life may be
rectified, but if a man is unwilling to discuss issues of his sexuality, then it may
pose challenges to his healing and will be a difficult aspect for their partner to
bear.
There is nothing more satisfying, pun intended, than love and romance coming
back into a dying relationship. This book is aimed to facilitate two partners to enjoy
the gift of sex and give themselves to each other with love. This book has been
written to help anyone struggling in this area of their lives so that they can get back
enjoying sex regularly.
If left unattended, erectile dysfunction can create wounds in a relationship and
lead to a breakup. But that’s not all. There are multiple emotional challenges the
man will have to face, starting with low self-esteem and leading to anxiety. The
man is more likely to suffer mentally in the process and one of the main things he
may face is depression. As a partner reading this book, it will be helpful to
understand all these emotional problematic areas your partner may be
experiencing so you can be in a better place to offer comfort and support.
D for Depression
For many years, depression was not considered as an illness and was not
properly treated. Only with recent medical advancements, depression was
declared as a condition that has symptoms, causes and treatments. This
condition can hinder a person’s ability to live a normal life, being a chronic
illness. Chronic means that one day you can be feeling completely fine and the
next day you may be feeling suicidal. This is the high level of danger depression
can cause. On its own, depression is a matter of concern, but when combined
with a man suffering from erectile dysfunction, you have quite a difficult and
sensitive situation on your hands.
Studies have revealed time and again that erectile dysfunction and depression are
closely related, and that men suffering from erectile dysfunction were more likely to
succumb to depression than men who didn’t suffer from the problem.
In several other studies, it was observed that erectile dysfunction in the majority
of cases is not the primary causative agent of depression. However, it is just one of
the many factors that may lead to it.

As a general rule of thumb, masculinity has almost always been shadowed by
the sexual ability of a man, so when this ability is taken away, many men feel like
they are vulnerable and there is no way of getting their masculinity. This is when
the road into depression begins. Erectile dysfunction may lead to depression
which will in turn can affect almost every other are of life, as the man’s frustration
and deep dissatisfaction with himself will show in the lack of confidence. Thus,
not only the relationship but also the work life of a man may suffer, all due to not
getting enough information on this disease.
What many men have to understand is that the blame is not on them. Some men
start to ask themselves if they are normal and put blame on themselves for
something that may well be beyond their control.
Some food for thought --- depression can be the result of a man experiencing
erectile dysfunction. A man suffering from erectile dysfunction can feel like his
confidence has been taken away and this may lead to depression. It’s a terrible
cycle that needs to be broken by shedding light on the matter.
Fortunately this is not the end of the road. This book will help guide you in terms
of how erectile dysfunction can be treated, cured and how to get your life back on
track. This all will eventually bring back the joy and romance into your relationship!

Chapter 1: The Background Of Erectile Dysfunction
Traditional Medicine And Other Medications
rectile dysfunction or impotence, as the condition was known in the past, is
not a state new to man. In fact, numerous scientists, physicians, herbalists,
and other medical practitioners gave themselves over to the science for
years, trying to understand impotence and find a solution.
Many of them spoke about natural treatments of curing the ailment and sought to
remedy the situation with herbs and other plants.
The most referenced in this field, first-century scientist, Pliny, who spoke in great
lengths about the different types of aphrodisiacs that were supposed to cure
impotence. The cures that Pliny offered were not the sweetest to the palate, but if
one committed themselves to following through with them, they were told to brace
themselves.
For example, why not try some garlic dissolved in wine consumed with coriander?
If you are not an alcohol person, then let’s replace the wine with some water that
has been used to boil wild asparagus in it. Garlic not doing it for you? Then why
not try Cyprian reed in wine again, or perhaps even the leaves of clematis which
this time are eaten whilst sipping vinegar? None of these things sound
appetizing? Don’t worry, Pliny still has more up his sleeve, like the cremnos agrios
plant crushed in pearl barley will do the trick!
If you found any of Pliny’s recommendations less than pleasant, then I am afraid
that you would have not enjoyed living during the Greek and Roman times, or at
least disliked their impotence medication. The Greeks and Romans came up with
the most ingenious theories about potential cures and remedies, but perhaps
took them a bit too far. For example, medicine from snake parts may have more
of a symbolic meaning than medical. The Greeks and Romans believed that
since snakes have the incredible ability to rejuvenate themselves, then perhaps
that ability may be translated to humans if certain parts of the snake were used in
medicine.
Even further, how about a classic course of goat and rooster genitalia? This was
thought of as medicine that bring “excitement” back into your life.

18
Lizards, especially larger ones like the skink, were also part of the meals and
were consumed with great gusto in a flurry of white wine so you were too drunk
to know what you were eating.
The fascination with animal parts didn’t end in earlier times and surprisingly, you’ll
find friars in the middle ages, recommending wolf penis as a cure for impotence.
One such friar who stands out in history is Albertus Magnus, who explicitly
detailed how the wolf’s penis was to be prepared and consumed in his 13th
century classic De Animalibus. One had to cut up the meat into small pieces and
then roast in the oven, and once done, eat a few pieces which supposedly
should have one ready to go almost immediately!
Even more diverse animals like sparrows and starfish were included in the list
and considered as aphrodisiacs, capable of restoring a man’s virility.
The sheer desperation of men led some fraudsters to come up with concoctions
of ‘elixirs’ they sold to people who believed these potions would work. One such
school of thought was propagated by the 1739 Ladies Physical Directory club that
led many to believe that their elixir would do the trick and heal men. No recorded
documents ever point to how their elixir affect men, except for their very flowery
promise of what the potion would do for them --- ‘allowing men to prolong the
embrace and in this manner provide their partners with proper dalliance to raise
their inclination.’
During the turn of the nineteenth century, the search for a cure continued and now
doctors were in the game too, making promises with their syrups and mixes. Dr.
Brodum was celebrated for his Nervous Cordial & Botanical Syrup and so was
Samuel-Auguste Tissot who had created his own set of medicine called the Cordial
Balm of Gilead. These doctors you can say were the forerunners of today’s
erectile dysfunction pharmaceutical giants.
Like today, there were those who advocated the use of cannabis as the cure
for all ailments including impotence. At the forefront of this school of thought was
Frederick Hollick, who genuinely believed that the use of cannabis would not only
bring about the sexual prowess of a man, but would also provide him with
other useful abilities during intercourse!
As the decades moved on, more and more doctors continued with experiments in
the erectile dysfunction area and many tonics and stimulants were introduced. As
can be assumed, not all of them were rigorously tested to provide the best
effects. Some of these so called tonics actually were more harmful than
beneficial, but at the time there was no FDA to standardize supplements and look
into the health and safety aspects of all medication being sold.

Just before the turn of the millennium, one of the biggest and most celebrated
erectile dysfunction drugs to ever grace the human race was released --- Viagra.
Viagra in a pill, combined all the efforts that many had been trying to do over the
centuries. It continues to be one of the most popular forms of oral medication
approved by the Food and Drug Administration of America.
Viagra is not only one of the most celebrated and well known drugs on the
market, but it also had exclusive rights as the sole leading erectile dysfunction
drug worth over one billion dollars in sales annually until competitors entered the
market in 2003.
So for almost five consecutive years, Pfizer enjoyed free reign in this area of
the pharmaceutical industry until rival companies started producing their own
erectile dysfunction drugs. Today, some of the top competitors are Eli Lilly’s Cialis
and Bayer AG’s Levitra.
How Traditional Medicine Works
Physicists, not wanting to be left out, also took to creating their own witty
inventions which left much to be desired. In order to cure flaccidity, scientists
tried everything from using magnetism to electrical beds. Some even went as
far as to use the mechanics of electrical force to explain how erections occur
and hence justify using electrical means in healing methods. One such maverick
was John J. Caldwell. But none were as eccentric as the French physicist Vincent
Marie Mondat, who actually created a vacuum pump that drew blood to the penis
and induced an erection.
Not even the two World Wars could not stop scientists from carrying on with their work, and between 1914 and 1945, work continued on trying to find a cure for erectile dysfunction. From a wider perspective, the ability to produce an erection at whatever cost resulted in some of the strangest sex aids ever created. Forgetting the comfort of your partner was left in the background, as long as you can get and maintain an erection. Such was the thinking of many a scientist as some of the inventions created during this period were probably targeted more to women than men.
Scientists came up with all sorts of inventions like the Loewenstein’s Coitus
Training Device, which was a tube of sorts that was worn over the penis prior to
sexual intercourse. Loewenstein argued that the penis could be trained to harden
with time and the device would no longer be required.
Some scientists even began attempting transplant surgeries, with the eccentric
Dr. G Frank Lydston operating on himself in 1914, grafting the entire testicle of a
Survive in Bed

dead man onto himself.
American scientists were not the only ones doing such surgeries as French and
Russian scientists were also in the race to find a cure. In 1919 Russian scientist
Serge Voronoff caused a major controversy as he reported how he had
transplanted chimpanzee testicles into several men whose sex drives and libido
were improved, as he claimed.
In America, implanting silicon rods became common procedures in the 70’s,
although it is claimed these rods were not approved by the FDA. As a result,
many men suffered from infections and sadly even after receiving the implants,
most still experienced failure.
The Mental Affects Of Erectile Dysfunction
Getting an erection is not only psychological, but also physiological. However, it
is important for a man to be stimulated or having him in an environment that gets
him excited. This concept was fully appreciated and embraced by 4th century
scientist Priscianus, who encouraged impotent men to throw themselves into an
environment that would sexually stimulate them. He claimed that the man should
be in a place where he can visually gaze at magnificent women and should read
erotic literature. This was Priscianus’ foolproof method.
In those times, may Romans were very superstitious and wore amulets and
talismans in a bid to ward off evil. Crocodile teeth were the most common
talismans. Praying to the different gods was also said to ensure a man’s ability to
sustain himself. However, since science was not as prominent in those times,
people did not think that physiological reasons may be the cause of ED.
Just to present one strange example of how gullible people can be, Nicholas Culpeper
and Jane Sharp propagated that men should urinate through their wife’s wedding
ring to ward off evil. In France this idea even stretched to the thought that urinating
through the keyhole of the church door in which one got married would allow a
man to get rid of his impotence.
There’s No Shame In Erectile Dysfunction
Men have always boasted and appreciated their ability to please a partner, but if
that ability is hindered in any way it may put a big emotional strain on the man.
However, the notion that ‘it is a man’s ability to please their partner is what makes
him a man’ should be discarded because there is more to what makes a good
man. What is the use of having a great partner who can please you sexually but
Survive in Bed

is completely irresponsible in all other areas of life?
A partner will find it hard to both respect and love someone who does not provide
the same back. A man who is willing to bear his family’s responsibility, provide,
protect and care for his family is what makes him more attractive to a partner and
can make the sex even greater! The recovery process is not just about reading
this book, it also means improving all other aspects as a man and becoming a
better person in the process.

Chapter 2: Myths And Erectile Dysfunction
rectile dysfunction, or impotence as it was formally called, has generated
quite some interest over the centuries. The subject area has and still
continues to be a topic of great discussion, and when something generates
this much interest, old stories, tales and myths are bound to surface. It is no
wonder erectile dysfunction is still being viewed in a negative light with so
much misconceptions and lies.
In days gone by, the main cause for impotence was what Swiss physician
Samuel Tissot referred to as onanism, what we now call masturbation. Tissot
was an educated man and his views were generally accepted. As a man of faith,
a statesman and scientist, Tissot’s ideas held much interest and drew a large
following. Hence in 1760, he began writing a book on masturbation, which was
later published in 1832.
The book described remedies and a cure for the ‘resulting impotence’ that follows
such an activity. Among some of Tissot’s remedies for impotency was the
administration of cold baths, taking a range of tonics from cinchona to Sulph of
Quinine and improving one’s diet. The interesting part is that his methods had
some success stories, however, they are not recommended today.
From Myth to Facts
Being desperate and seeing no other solution can drive a man to try various
harmful remedies without giving it a second thought. The strong link between a
man’s pride and his ability to perform sexually should not be underplayed nor
undervalued. The company that manufactures Viagra saw this immense
opportunity and market that these people symbolized and sat down to research
this age old topic.
But before Viagra became widely available, there were points of reference that
people went to. Witchdoctors, shaman, and native doctors provided services to
their ‘clientele’ but they are also to blame for many of the myths that surround this
sensitive topic. So what are the myths and tales that came from all these esoteric
healers? Several myths are presented below and they all have been put to the
test and proven as misconceptions with serious consequences.

Myth 1: Erectile Dysfunction Due To Masturbation
Masturbation cannot cause erectile dysfunction, even if practiced often. However,
masturbation and pornography have been known to temporarily cause erectile
dysfunction, but if discontinued for a period of time, one should be able to gain
normal potency.
Fact: Self-love is a normal and healthy part of sexuality, but when over-done, it
can lead to a temporary state where you cannot reach an erection. Masturbation is
referred to as being over-done when it starts to interfere with daily activities such
as work, family time, and relationships with loved ones. Moderation is key and
there should be a place and time for masturbation.
Myth 2: Erectile Dysfunction Cannot Be Cured
Since erectile dysfunction has generally been a sens i t i ve condition that very
few people ever spoke of, those suffering from it generally have no idea about
the truth, which is that it is perfectly curable. We have and will continue to provide
you more methods to battle ED throughout this book.
Fact: Erectile dysfunction can be cured using traditional and natural methods
Myth 3: I Have To Get Used To Pills
Since Viagra hit the market, most people began to think of it as a double-edged
sword with a benefit being erections, but the negative part being having to take
pills every day. The answer could not be further from the truth.
Fact: This book has been written to specifically target the area that is left out
of the picture, the natural way to cure erectile dysfunction without the need to
consistently take pills.

24
Myth 4: Am I Challenged As A Man
Erectile dysfunction happens to men of all ages and it has no connection with how ‘manly’ or ‘unmanly’ you are. The causes of impotence may be different in every case. So it is important to stand back and look at your life to see what is causing your erectile dysfunction. Perhaps it’s simply the stress of having to change jobs, the death of a close friend, or following an unhealthy diet. Whatever the cause, there is nothing wrong with you as a man for going through this.
Fact: More than 100 million men the world over experience erectile dysfunction at
some point in their lives.
Myth 5: Erectile Dysfunction Shouldn’t Be A Surprise
At My Age
As we get older, it tends to become easier to let certain things go. For example,
having a high blood pressure or weaker bones are condition you have little
control over. However, erectile dysfunction is definitely curable and treatable
even during the later years.
Fact: Never at any age should a man accept erectile dysfunction as a way of life.
It’s a totally curable illness and simply involves taking better care of one’s health
and eating the right things mentioned later in this book.
Surely Viagra can solve that issue, right? Wrong.
Whilst the issue of erectile dysfunction can be linked to physical problems like
poor blood flow to the penis, it is not the sole cause of ED. There are other
causes which are more related to emotions and psychology.
Viagra will take care of the blood coming to your penis, but it will not deal with your
emotional issues. So you have three kids and a wife who depends on you to put
the bacon on the table. Your boss is giving you a hard time at work and has
spoken about you being laid off, what are you going to do? You cannot afford to
tell your wife that they are laying you off. Neither can you tell your golf buddies or
anyone for that matter, but it’s eating you up inside. Your wife has tried to make
you relax in bed, but you just cannot stop thinking about the foggy future. Now
your wife is mad at you and you are angry at the world and with yourself.
Survive in Bed
25
Or consider that all you eat is junk food and your diet contains few to no
nutritional foods. With your body not receiving the nutrients it requires, you can’t
expect ED to just go away.
It is easy to think that a pill will cure all the problems connected with ED, but that
is not the case. What we are proposing in this book is a healing method that will
bring you peace and restore your relationship with your partner, while working to
make you a better man all around.
Can My Penis Ever Get Bigger?
Think about it – if someone would have a proven and tested solution for growing
the penis, they would be billionaires! Sadly, there is no such thing out to increase
the size of your penis except, and this we say for those who are bold enough,
surgery. Yes men, the only way that we know of is surgery. No magic creams,
formulas or tonics present conclusive results with enlarging the penis. This is not
saying that we haven’t seen those ads. We have seen innumerable adverts offline
and online that boast about products you can use to enlarge the male sexual
organ.
In our many attempts, we have never talked to or heard from reliable and non-
biased sources about these products. Nor have these companies allowed us to
speak to their clients who are happy with the product. Thankfully, not a lot of
men would dare go under the knife to lengthen their manhood. In conclusion,
most men would rather improve other areas in their lives than go under the knife
for uncertain results.
Erectile Dysfunction Only Affects Old Men
Knowing that an 85 year-old man has long forgotten his sex life is nothing
surprising or new, but replace that old man with a 30 year-old male and it sounds
hard to believe. At 85 years of age, one is likely to be on a roller coaster of
medication which can affect a man’s ability to maintain an erection. But at 30,
unfortunately the times we live in now, so many young men suffer from depression
and other ailments that typically shouldn’t be ailing men of their age. Erectile
dysfunction is greatly influenced by obesity as well. Never at any age should
erectile dysfunction be looked at as something normal. Even at 85, one should
see just what is causing the problem.
Survive in Bed
26
If medication is the issue, it can be adjusted. If it’s stress, that too can be resolved.
If you need to eat better food, which you definitely do, we’ve got you covered
later in this book. Whatever it is, it needs to be rectified so the man can resume
having sex and enjoy his sex life.
Getting The Facts Right When a man cannot please his partner, many thoughts and assumptions get to his
head. He starts to think that there is something wrong with him. He may think that
he is not man enough. There’s no need for colleagues or friends to know about it.
It can become unbearable if his partner joins in and makes him feel inadequate.
That can completely destroy a man’s confidence. These are just some of the
reasons why most men keep their problem a secret and try to get help without
other people knowing. But letting your partner in can actually be a source of both
comfort and support, as two heads are better than one and you know that you
are not going through this alone.
Will I Say Goodbye To My Sex Life?
No matter what age you are, thoughts about sex and sexuality are always present
and they should not be ignored. Some men think that their age is a marker and
erectile dysfunction is one of life’s moments to tell them that they should slow
down on the sex and just settle into their twilight years. Nothing could be further
from the truth! Our sexuality is a part of us till we die! Our libido can wane with
age, but it does not mean that is the end. Whilst non-psychological problems like
diabetes and high blood pressure can affect your potency, this book will provide
remedies for every situation and stage of ED! The earlier you start your journey
to recovery, the better.

Chapter 3: Coming Back To Manhood
othing brings more motivation and positive action that reading success
stories and testimonials. Below we have outlined some of the stories from
our clients who have gone through this book and have seen the restoration
of their manhood.
You will notice that the journeys have not always been effortless, but
persistence and dedication win in the end. If you have been thinking that
this is the end of your sex life, think again, because this book is here to
bring back the joy of sex in your life!
Testimonial 1:
This is a highly successful 58 years old man. With hard work and dedication he
was able to buy a house in one of the better suburbs in his state. He had married
his childhood sweetheart and together they brought a little girl, who is their
ultimate joy, into the world. Their world had revolved around her life, until she
grew up and moved away for college. So at the onset of a potential new start in
their life, George thought that he and his wife could rekindle the love that they
shared in the past and go back to their wild and fun times together. All those
dreams were shattered however, when George discovered that he was suffering
from erectile dysfunction. Here is how he described the situation:
‘I met my wife when I was fourteen. She was the prettiest girl I had ever seen,
and I distinctly remember running back home and saying to my mom, ‘Mom, I
have met the girl for me and I am gonna marry her!’ My mother simply laughed,
but years later, Rosaline and I got married and what a life we lived those first few
years of marriage! Three years into our marriage, Rosaline found out she was
pregnant. I was beyond ecstatic and couldn’t wait to be a father. When our
daughter was born, it seemed like nothing in the world had mattered up until this
moment.
I wanted to be her hero. I wanted to be around for her every waking moment. I
worked even harder and provided everything I could for my little family. Life was
great. When our daughter moved out for college, it was the first time I realized
just how much time had passed, and how much older I was! I thought that it was
time to go on that long awaited cruise that my wife had always wanted to try, so I
made reservations and booked dates.

Our vacation didn’t quite begin as planned however. As to my dismay, each
time my wife and I tried to make love, I found out that I couldn’t maintain
myself during intercourse.
Bless my wife, she was so understanding and didn’t press the matter further. But it
really bothered me. I couldn’t understand what was wrong with me, and this made
me angry. I soon started to lash out at my wife for no apparent reason and within
no time, she grew frustrated with me. It was a mess that I had created and I felt
completely hopeless. I didn’t know how to make things right again. I had almost
given up on life, until Rosaline started reading more on the topic. Soon we came
across the meal plan and diet plan laid out in this book and that really got the ball
rolling again for us. I must confess that at first I followed the plan somewhat half-
heartedly, but as we started seeing results, I continued with even more
enthusiasm and I am happy to say that I am completely cured. In fact, I have
been meaning to do that cruise experience with Rosaline all over again and this
time, I am going to do things right!

Testimonial 2:
This is the social heart-of-the-party guy who is always smiling and full of energy.
Meet Jake, a 30-year old former pro football player who is still in excellent shape
and has a face girls swoon over. What happens to a man like Jake when he
discovers that his life is about to be turned upside down? Here is his account:
Talk about hitting rock bottom or being caught between a rock and a hard place.
That was my life before I came across this book. I have always been a fun guy, I
mean at least that’s what people around me tell me. I think of myself as a
charismatic guy and the ladies seemed to love that about me. That was until I
discovered I was suffering from diabetes.
I am telling you, this is not a joke. I had been living a very healthy and active
lifestyle and was only 30 when my doctor told me that I was suffering from Type 1
Diabetes. Now if you are like me, you hate being sick with anything. My life flashed
before my eyes as the doctor sat across me and started telling me in great detail
the things I should look out for, now that I was a diabetes patient. He fired them
off one by one; potential problems with my eyes, liver, kidneys, heart and erectile
dysfunction. I must say when he got to that one, I was embarrassed for days but
had to clarify what he meant. So I asked. ‘Well Jake, it’s not the end of the world’
he started, but to be honest everything he said after that went in one ear and
came out the other. I walked out of there feeling like my world had just been pulled
from underneath my feet.
The next few weeks were probably the hardest in my life. I could barely muster
up the courage to talk to women anymore. My self-esteem and confidence had
plummeted. I became desperate and looked online and offline for anything that
could make me normal again. I can give you a list of everything I tried, there is
almost nothing that I didn’t give a shot. I tried taking oral tablets. But I vomited
after taking them because I could never keep them down. Needle injections were
the worst because I have a phobia of needles. The vacuum pump, wow, what an
invention! The vacuum pump did what it promised to do, but it was so much
work getting an erection that would disappear within seconds of being removed
from the pump. My life was a nightmare.
It was on a lonely night when I decided to stay in since all the boys had gone for
drinks. I was online and came across this dietary plan. This plan changed my life
completely. I mean I had tried everything and this looked simple enough
compared to what I had done before, so I gave it a go and never looked back.
This plan has done wonders in my life. I do not know what I would have done had
I not come across it.

All I will say to you is, this is not the end of the world! You can do something
about erectile dysfunction and it is only your will power that will determine how
much you want to get back to your former self. The plan here is all natural. You
don’t lose a thing by trying. Take it from someone who has been there. This plan
works!

Chapter 4: Treating Erectile Dysfunction Today
e are now going to take a look at some of the more commonly available
and most widely prescribed pharmaceutical drugs that treat ED.
Erectile dysfunction is best dealt with as a couple because the journey
will require your partner to be understanding and supportive as you work to get
yourself together. When ED is linked to emotional issues such as stress and
anxiety, it is even more necessary for a couple to go through the counselling
process together.
In the past, the norm was that the man would get a penile implant that came with
long- term psychotherapy, but now the penile implant is no longer a necessity
unless the patient desires it. Nowadays, there are more natural ways of treating
ED, but the most common and widely looked at methods of treatment are
prescription meds. While in no shape or form do we encourage the use of
prescription meds, we have tried our best to make this guide as comprehensive
as possible. So we will still definitely include the valuable tips and meal plan
you need to follow to cure ED, but at the same time, you should know what’s out
there to be better informed.
Prescription Medication For Erectile Dysfunction
In the United States, and on the entire erectile dysfunction market, there are only
three prescription drugs that are prescribed under FDA approval. The three
heavyweights used to battle the Physical Reasons For Having ED of ED in no
particular order are tadalafil more commonly known as Cialis, sildenafil citrate
also known by its highly celebrated name Viagra, and vardenafil which is also
called Levitra.
The popularity of these drugs stems from the fact that a high percentage of men
who use these drugs get results. To be precise, three out of every four men who
use these drugs will have normal sexual relations with their partner. As far as
side effects are concerned, that’s a whole different ballgame because hundreds
of thousands of users have complained about various issues after taking these
pills.
In men who suffer from diabetes, the percentage of men who were able to take any
one of the three drugs was far lower than men who do not suffer from diabetes.
So long story short, if you have diabetes, Viagra is not your best option.
Survive in Bed
32
Here we must make a note and say that the drugs themselves are not capable of
giving a man an erection. Taking a Viagra pill does not mean that a man will get
an erection immediately. What these drugs do is allow nitric oxide to kick into
play, allowing muscles in the penis to relax which permits blood to move freely.
The man still requires sexual stimulation for things to proceed as normal.
Do You Have To Take These Pills?
Ideally Viagra and Levitra should be taken up to an hour before intercourse. They
allow the man to be active for a good four hours. Tadalafil takes the winning
cup and the effects only start wearing off after 36 hours!
A word of caution however --- After taking this medication, a man must have
intercourse only once in 24 hours. So as you can see, there are far too many
conditions and specifications to adhere to when taking these prescribed
medications. What we promote is a natural and healthy way to boost your sexual
performance, without having to rely on pills or medication and their risky
consequences.
Viagra first went public in 1998. Before that the main dominant drug on the market
had been alprostadil, which was not an oral medication, but one that had to be
injected into the penis or via the urethra (ouch!) Viagra dominated the market for
the next five years and the total market price of the three new drugs combined
exceeded $3.4 billion by
2004. Viagra continued to dominate for the next couple of years, having more than
50%
of the entire market share to itself.
But just what is in these drugs and how do they really work? Let’s take a closer
look at the three super power drugs below:
Viagra
Probably the world’s most celebrated sexual performance drug, Viagra has come
a long way, and fascinatingly enough did not originally start off as a drug for
erectile dysfunction. Viagra, sildenafil citrate, has its origins in the early 90s, 1991
to be precise. The drug was registered as a treatment for chest pain. Yes, chest
pain. However, the longer the drug stayed on the market, the more its
manufacturers realized its potential as more people reported that it brought about
Survive in Bed
33
another totally unexpected reaction, an erection. So Viagra came to be the
medication we know of, that has continued to be prescribed for erectile
dysfunction since 1998.
The FDA approved the medication and to date more than 30 million men the world
over have used Viagra at some point in their lives.
The Truth Behind Viagra:
Viagra is an oral pill which is taken with some form of liquid. (Viagra should
always be taken before you eat anything, best taken on a completely empty
stomach. Avoid any greasy foods as these may affect the absorption of Viagra
into the body). Viagra uses the chemical nitric oxide to dilate blood vessels in the
penis, allowing more blood to flow to the organ. The nitric oxide causes muscles
in the penis to relax so more blood flows in. This results in the hardening of the
penis --- voilà an erection!
Viagra, just like any other drug, has a recommended dosage. You should not take
more than what is prescribed. The normal amount to take is 50mg. Pharmacies
usually sell Viagra in doses of 25mg, 50mg and 100mg.
Because of its potent nature, Viagra should be taken up to one hour before any
sexual activity. Viagra will remain active in your system for four hours after you
take it.
Many men make the assumption that Viagra increases libido --- it doesn’t and
neither does it cause erections automatically. In order to achieve your best while
using Viagra, ask your partner to stimulate you until you are sexually aroused.
This way Viagra will be given a chance to work and allow you to have sex.
A word of warning and caution --- If you suffer from cardiovascular disease or
have low blood pressure, get professional advice before taking any Viagra, this is
especially important for men over 65. Always read the label carefully because there
are many other side effects and conditions which may prevent you from taking the
pill.
Viagra pills bear a $10 cost per pill.
Levitra:
After having enjoyed a successful five years of being the sole ranger and player
in the erectile dysfunction game, Viagra saw one of its very first competitors
make an entry point. The new kid on the block was called Levitra. Levitra came
Survive in Bed
34
out in 2003 and to date still remains one of the chief competitors and rivals of
Viagra. Upon its approval by the FDA, Levitra was soon a prescribed drug.
The drug works on the same concept and principle as Viagra. Levitra aids blood
flow in the direction of the penis and helps a man get hard and maintain his
erection during intercourse.
It should be taken up to an hour before a man plans to get together with his
sexual partner. This drug has been known to work faster than any of the other
two, with men during clinical trials having reported that some even got an
erection 25 minutes after taking the pill.
Levitra has some advantages over Viagra. It has the ability to work alongside
other illnesses such as diabetes and can be taken by a man who had prostate
surgery. These are necessary factors that lead doctors to recommend it over
other ED drugs on the market.
Levitra does have its drawbacks though. These include the fact that it should
never be combined with chest pain medication which contains nitrates. Levitra
should not be used in conjunction with alpha-blockers (medication that works for
men with elevated blood pressure or prostate issues).
Levitra is available from pharmacies in 2.5mg, 5 mg, 10 mg and 20mg dosage
tablets. Take only one dosage a day.
Levitra pills cost about the same as Viagra pills - $10 a pill.
Cialis:
Released the same year as Levitra, Cialis is the don of ED drugs on the market.
Where Viagra and Levitra only work for four hours, Cialis does eight times that
amount and can go up to an impressive 36 hours of active service.
Cialis is an oral medication whose absorption into the blood system is not
affected by
fatty or greasy food, so it does not need to be taken on an empty stomach the
way Viagra does. However Cialis does have its own drawbacks, which can be
rather unpleasant. These side effects include the man getting an upset stomach,
feeling pain in the back and muscles and also experiencing headaches.
Working in a similar fashion to its counterparts, Cialis encourages an increase in
the flow of blood to the penis as a man becomes aroused. Proven clinically to
improve erections whether the man is suffering from mild to severe ED, Cialis
continues to be one of the top prescribed erectile dysfunction drugs.
Survive in Bed
35
Every one of the three drugs has its own downsides. The side effects of Cialis
are generally experienced within 12 to 24 hours of taking the drug, however the
symptoms and pain tend to disappear after two days. Like a hangover really
doesn’t have a cure, you just have to wait it out and ride the pain until it’s gone.
The recommended dosage that one should ideally start with is 10mg of Cialis.
When purchasing these pills, you may purchase them in the 5mg, 10mg or 20mg
options.
Cialis should not be taken more than once a day.
The cost of a Cialis pill is the same as that of the other two - $10 per pill.
Ed Medication Side Effects
There is a little known condition called Priapism, which is spoken of when one
starts to take these drugs. Priapism is almost an irony to the situation because it
refers to a state where a man continues to have an erection even after he has
finished making love to his partner. So from failing to have an erection, now he
has an erection for a prolonged period of time. So forget about heading out
anywhere immediately after having sex.
But as tempted as one would be to find the situation ludicrous, the situation is far
from funny because it is actually a very serious state that may lead to damage of
the penis. This prolonged erection, if not addressed, could lead to the man
hurting his penis and leading to an even graver problem --- permanent impotence.
Vascular Conditions and ED Medication
The last thing anyone wants is to have a partner pass away during such an
intimate moment. We know that it is not a pleasant thought, but it has happened.
Men, usually over the age of 65, suffering from a vascular condition, have taken
one of these three pills and over exerted themselves during love making. They
ended up with a heart attack because their heart just couldn’t handle the
pressure.
You may be wondering if this is actually possible. We assure you it is.
Survive in Bed
36
In a healthy individual, sexual activity will have them breathing heavily after
passionate exertion. When one suffers from heart problems which dictate that they
shouldn’t exert themselves too much, they need to be very careful about how quick
their heart is beating. Men over 65 or men with cardiovascular conditions are at
high risk when taking the above-mentioned medications.
Erectile dysfunction drugs are very potent and should not be taken by men who do NOT suffer from ED, and neither are they meant for women or children.
Should you feel light-headed or pain in your arms and chest during love making,
you are advised to refrain from going any further and should stop immediately. If
anything of this nature happens, talk to your healthcare provider as soon as
possible.
It is also worth noting that with all three drugs, it is advised and recommended that
one start at the lowest dosage possible and increase as needed.
All of the medication mentioned in this chapter is prescribed by a doctor. For your
own safety, never alter the dosage prescribed by your healthcare provider, unless
otherwise instructed to do so. Never use the medication for any other purpose
except that which it was stipulated for. Always keep medication in a place that is
out of reach of children.

Chapter 5: Alternative Treatment For Ed
ialis, Levitra and Viagra are some options people take to battle ED, but that
is for cases when ED has a physical cause. In addition, these pills are for
people who have not tried the natural route to being cured and simply
want to pop pills to have sex.
While it may seem convenient, taking these pills has its long list of side-effects,
which we mentioned in the previous chapter. In addition, you have to take far too
many precautions such as not being able to go out for the next few hours after
taking these pills because you’re stuck with an unwanted erection.
ED, as we have seen, can be caused by physical or psychological reasons. And
as we have also addressed in previous chapters, the physical causes of ED can
be dealt with effectively to some degree by the three commercially available and
largely successful drugs on the market.
However, what happens when a man’s ED is not caused by a physical problem
per se? What if a man is going through the stress of having to change jobs
because he has decided to relocate? There are so many pressures that can weigh
a man down; pressures that he might not have the courage to tell his partner or
anxiety he might carry but feels too embarrassed to share with anyone. The man
may also be eating the wrong types of food, which eventually disallow him to
perform in bed. Whatever the cause may be, the stress and anxiety will eventually
take its toll on the man and will start to manifest itself in small ways. ED becomes
apparent when the man fails to become hard nearly 50% of the time he wants to
make love with his partner.
What makes this type of ED hard to deal with is the fact that the man needs to be
open to counselling and allow himself to get the important help so that he can
resume normal sexual relations. If not dealt with, the pent up sexual frustration
and tension can wear down a relationship. Especially a relationship where the
partner is not aware of what the man is going through.
We are going to look at some other more traditional forms of treatment that have
been used over the decades and continue to be used even today.

Vacuum Pump Therapy
Using this pump takes time and dedication, but it is possible to obtain the desired
results (erection). In a transparent cylinder, the man inserts his penis and
through the use of a pump he forces air out of the cylinder, creating a vacuum
around his penis which aids in drawing blood into the erectile tissue. With an
erection forming this way, the man then places a particular ring specially designed
for this purpose over the base of his shaft in order to trap blood inside his penis.
The pump works if you have plenty of patience. It is to be noted however that if
the vacuum is allowed to remain on for a prolonged period of time, then the man
may suffer bruises on genitals.
Injection Therapy
This is probably one of the more painful options on the list. Injection therapy is
when a man must inject chemicals into his penis, which aid better flow of blood
and allow him to have an erection. In 1995, Caverject was approved by the FDA
as one of the very first injection drugs. Another drug that was also approved is
papaverine. Both of these drugs are injected into the penis minutes before
intercourse.
The downside to these two solutions is that they cause terribly painful erections
and in rare cases, the erection continues way after the sexual intercourse. It
often ends up needing medical attention. Not to mention, it probably won’t get you
and your partner
‘in the mood’ when you have to use a needle to inject yourself with a chemical
before sex.
When inserted into the penis, the drugs require about ten minutes until they work.
This solution will generally last for up to an hour. All in all, the process of injecting
the drugs and waiting for them to kick in is rather painful and makes this one of
the least favored options for ED.
Implantable Penile Prostheses
Surgery on the penis often means that you will never be able to have a natural
erection again. This is why this option is usually one of the very, very last options
on the list of dealing with ED.
Survive in Bed
39
If you are considering this, it means you understand that the surgeon will implant
into your corpora cavernosa a semi-firm penile prosthesis which is made from
silicone rods. These rods are flexible and bend as the need arises. There is also a
pump that is placed in your scrotum and you can squeeze it, giving room for it to
inflate and deflate. You should be able to resume normal sexual relations within
eight weeks of having surgery. Once you have had this surgery, it is very hard to
go back to your normal self.
This kind of apparatus works but the main downside is its inability to be
completely hidden behind clothes.
Surgery is always a huge step and one that should be weighed with all due
diligence, thoughtfulness and careful deliberation.
Once a man has received all the information he needs to about the surgery, then
he can proceed to carefully weigh his options and once he is settled, he can
proceed with his decision to undergo surgery. However, we think that surgery is
far too invasive and it’s an easier option to use the natural methods described in
this book to get rid of ED.

Chapter 6: A More Traditional Approach
ou may have read up on all the main commercial products available and
have decided to opt for a more natural means to treat your ED. There are
several natural and traditional medicines and practices used to treat ED,
but it is worth
noting that there are no concrete scientific studies done on any of the methods
written below.
The methods and herbs are vast, from acupuncture to drinking ginseng tea, right
down to pomegranate juice, men have looked into all sorts of things in a bid to
find a more natural way to treat ED.
This is not to say that there are no
studies out there. Studies exist, but
they are not the kind of studies
that you should stake your life on. A
study should focus on quality and
should bring out an honest
assessment of the substance being
studied. These notions are
supported by Dr. Andrew
McCullough, one of the associate
professors a t New York
University who firmly believes that
just because evidence exists,
doesn’t automatically make that
evidence good.
Dr. McCullough’s thoughts are well
intended as more than 30 million
men in America are assumed to
suffer from ED and many are
looking for quick and effective
treatment methods. Dr.
McCullough, as one of the chief
researchers on the initial clinical
studies done for Viagra, also points
out just how necessary it is to get
excellent counselling and screening for other diseases before going down this natural path.
Survive in Bed
41
This is because in seven out of ten cases, ED is not a lone illness, but is linked to a
bigger condition such as vascular, kidney or neurological diseases. Or it may
be caused by ailments that stem from eating unhealthy food.
Take time to discuss matters with your partner or just time to reflect on your own,
then make your choice. Don’t rush into anything because your treatment option
should best reflect your interests to make sure that you are committed to getting
better.
Dr. Steven Lamm, a New York City impotence expert defines the different
orders of impotence from mild ED. Obviously the treatment options for all ED
cases may not necessarily be the same, but the underlying factor that we
encourage and present in this book is eating healthy and following a specific
diet. Nonetheless, for the sake of knowledge, let’s discuss some herbal
treatments people have used to battle ED.
Yohimbe
Yohimbe is a herb whose origins can be traced to the bark of the tree bearing the
same name found in West African countries. Corynanthe yohimbe, as a natural
treatment option, has been available in Europe for more than 80 years and was
only approved by the FDA in the 80’s.
The herb has now been commercialized and is sold as an over-the-counter ED
treatment prescription medicine under brand names such as Yohimex and Erex.
With no specific medical research to back up its claims, Yohimbe is believed to
work the same way as big name ED drugs like Cialis, but on a much smaller
basis and with a response time that takes up to six weeks to kick in.
Yohimbe is thought to cause blood vessels in the erectile tissue to relax and thus
allow blood to flow more freely. It is also supposed to stop the blood from flowing
out, allowing men to experience an erection.
Not only does it have this muscle relaxing effect, but Yohimbe is also thought to
play a role around the lower spinal cord responsible for the transmission of
sexual signals. Quite a significant proportion of men, up to 40%, have reported
being successful during sexual intercourse whilst on the Yohimbe pill.
Yohimbe is best prescribed for men whose ED stems from vascular related
issues or those with emotional problems originating in the mind (stress,
depression) and those with diabetes.
Survive in Bed
42
Can Yohimbe be taken by men not suffering from ED? Absolutely, unlike other
ED medication, Yohimbe is natural and men who do not suffer from ED and use
Yohimbe claim that the herb helps increase their libido. In some cases it even
causes erections to last longer.
The Yohimbe extract is normally administered in doses of up to 5.4mg, taken
thrice a day. The drawback with Yohimbe is the time it takes to be effective. On
average it will take a man anywhere between three weeks to two months to see
results.
Ginkgo Biloba
It is another herb that has no direct and clear medical studies to present just how
it operates, but is used to treat ED. Gingko biloba is prescribed for men whose ED
is more psychological.
It should be avoided by men who suffer from blood disorders and those who use
the blood thinner Coumadin. This is because Gingko biloba is known to cause the
clotting of blood and when mixed with blood thinning medication, can prove a
disastrous and even fatal combination.
Red Korean Ginseng
This plant, native to Asia, is one of the more popular (and more expensive) herbal
plants in the East. It goes under many names. If you wish to purchase it, then it is
useful to know that it may be sold under the following names: Chinese ginseng,
Asian ginseng, or panax ginseng. There are other forms of ginseng which
should not be mistaken for Red Korean Ginseng . The ginsengs to not confuse
with are American and Siberian ginseng.
Red Korean Ginseng requires a good five years of growth before the plant may
be used. This care and time needed to allow the plant to properly mature causes
the plant to bear such a marked price.
The part that is used for treating ED is the root. The ginseng root must first be
dried without being processed and in this form it is known as white ginseng. But
after it has gone through steaming, and has been re-dried and stained, it is called
red ginseng.
Survive in Bed
43
Why Red Ginseng?
For centuries the Chinese have used it as a medicine for holistic wellbeing that is
believed to work wonders on the immune system. It is also known to improve the
functioning of the heart, treat diabetes, and decrease the risk of impotence.
Proof Of The Effectiveness Of Red Ginseng
Traditional Chinese herbalists seem to have stumbled upon something in their
use of red ginseng, as modern day researchers are now finding proof in their
studies that there really is something in ginseng that seems to help blood flow.
A study conducted on over 45 men and documented in the Journal of Urology
shows that the men were divided into two groups, one group received red
ginseng while the other group received the placebo. The group that took the herbs
was on a 900 milligram prescription that was taken thrice each day for eight
weeks. It was observed that at the end of these two months, the men who had
taken the herb had fewer symptoms of ED. American researchers were impressed
and concluded that the herb could be used to treat impotence.
Ginseng Supplements
Red Korean Ginseng is a versatile herb that may be purchased in any one of the
following forms --- either liquid extract, pill form or in powder form. It is important
to always double check the ginseng that you are intending to purchase as there
are two types of ginseng available as we mentioned earlier.
If you prefer to buy ginseng in a more natural form, then feel free to purchase its
root. You will have to boil the roots in water and make tea with the water as a
way of extracting the ginseng from the root.

44
Ginseng Side Effects
Yes, believe it or not, a plant may be natural, but it can pose a few challenges
and side effects, and ginseng is not immune to that. Red ginseng, when used over
a long period of time, has been known to cause insomnia. Although this does not
happen in every case, it is still a possibility. Other side effects that may come
as a result of using red ginseng for prolonged periods of time include high blood
pressure, splitting headaches, light headedness, diarrhea, and skin breakouts.
Ginseng And Other Drugs
As always, before adding new medication to an already existing program, it is
important to confer with a health professional first. This is to check and make
sure that the new medication you intend to add does not interfere with the other
medication you may be taking.
If your current list of medication includes any of the following, then be careful
about adding red ginseng to your medical cabinet:
Immune system suppressants, insulin, blood pressure meds, blood thinners, stimulants
(coffee included), and monoamine oxidase inhibitor.
A list of other alternative herbal medicines to look into includes saw palmetto
Serenoa repens, true unicorn root Aletrius, and ginseng herbs such as the
Siberian ginseng Eleuthrococus senticocus, and Panax ginseng.
Another traditional medicine used is Strychnos nux-vomica. This particular
medicine should only be taken under direct guidance and supervision as it can
prove toxic when taken without due caution. Nux works best on men whose ED is
linked and caused by excessive alcohol and smoking.
For those wishing to look into Chinese healing herbal medicine, finding a
Chinese herbal shop is a excellent place to start. Chinese herbal mixes include
a combination of these herbs. Another favored option for treating ED using
oriental methods is via acupuncture. This however is frowned upon by doctors of
Western medicine because of inconclusive evidence showing its effectiveness.

A Detailed Approach And The Facts
Arginine: Nitric oxide is one of the key chemicals needed in the body to aid the
muscles of the penis. Pharmaceutical companies have exploited this knowledge
for ED drugs on the market, where you will notice that they either contain nitric
oxide compounds or stimulate its production. For those deciding to do it
naturally, they can opt to take amino acid L-arginine supplements. The amino
acid is readily available in natural food and serves to increase the secretion of
nitric oxide in the body.
There are no solid results of the effectiveness of taking arginine supplements,
although some positive studies conducted in the past which prove that L-arginine
boosts sexual function (Journal of Sex & Marital Therapy 2003). It should be
noted that like with any other medication, L-arginine should not be self-prescribed
and self-medicated without conducting due diligence, as it has been known to
interfere with medication taken to help men suffering from cardiovascular disease.
DHEA: Hormones are an indispensible part of the entire process of getting
aroused and getting an erection. The male hormone testosterone’s role cannot be
undermined nor underplayed in this equation for a normal libido and a regular
sex life. Men with low testosterone levels are often advised to look into therapy
that deals with testosterone replacement. And one part of this therapy includes
the use of supplements containing a hormone referenced as DHEA. The human
body can convert the supplement into testosterone and estrogen hormones.
There are documented studies which show that the use of DHEA helps decrease
the incidence of ED in some men.
However, DHEA has its bad side --- it can cause your pituitary gland to be
suppressed. Impotence expert Dr. McCullough from the New York University says
that its long term effects are also unknown, which is why most physicians do not
advise its use.
Acupuncture: The age old art and practice of acupuncture is one of the most
recognized and easily accepted forms of healing in the East. And no doubt, it has
made claims of treating ED. The claims may be justified, but science requires
that there be undeniable proof to its effectiveness. To date, no conclusive
evidence to support its effectiveness has been found.
Pomegranate Juice: This one is a long shot, but some herbalists believe that
drinking pomegranate juice may help protect one from ED. Pomegranate juice is
known to be rich in antioxidants and is generally great for health. The research
that is out there is not sufficient, except for one study conducted in 2007 whose
results were rather promising, but it was a small scale study. More studies are still
Survive in Bed
46
to be done to give a more concrete answer.
Many people prefer taking the naturopath to healing. Whichever path you decide
to take, the best thing is to do your research first. Never stop any prescription
medicine and swap over to a more natural treatment method without conducting
due diligence.
Going natural is probably one of the best ideas, but it is not for everyone.
You are entitled to give it a go and try it out before completely discarding it. You
may be surprised to find that it works, or perhaps it is not altogether suitable for
you. Whatever you decide, always keep in mind that there is always another way
if you decide that commercial pharmaceutical over-the-counter drugs are not for
you.
There are many other options out there, but just make sure that you do your
research before rushing into something and committing yourself too early. Take it
step by step and one day at a time. We have a comprehensive meal plan
provided later in this book to help you get back on track through completely
natural means with no side effects.

Chapter 7: The Diet To Sexual Health!
othing can substitute a healthy and fit body. One of the aims of this book
has been to tell you the best way of dealing with ED --- pursuing a healthier
lifestyle. A healthy lifestyle is one where you make an effort to look
after yourself
holistically, mind and body. A healthy lifestyle looks at not only eating better
(more fruits and vegetables and less processed food stuff), but one that includes
regular exercise (where you maintain a weight suitable for your height, BMI and
attempt to keep your cholesterol levels down), and cutting out of your life
everything that leads to stress and depression (let go of unhealthy relationships
and get out of situations that get you down).
Survive in Bed
48
Pursuing a healthier lifestyle will also benefit the primary cause of your ED if it is
physically related. With lower cholesterol levels, you may be able to get off the
medication you have been taking that is causing ED as a side effect. Eating well
will release chemicals in your body that will help fight depression and stress ---
this is excellent news if your ED was caused by psychological reasons.
In this chapter, we are going to focus on an aspect that tends to be overlooked by
most people when they think of ED treatments --- good health starts in the kitchen.
One of the very first questions that may be asked is, ‘Is there food that causes
ED?’ the answer is NO and YES. No, because there is no food that directly
causes ED, and yes because there are foods (fatty foods, over-processed foods)
that can lead you to develop a primary illness such as being overweight which
in turn can have ED as a secondary illness linked to it. A follow up question may
be, ‘Is there food that prevents ED?’, the answer is a resounding YES. There is
food that can help prevent ED and there’s proof of it too.
Dr. Firouz Daneshgari, medical professor at the Case Western Reserve School
of Medicine makes the link that certain foods may help treat ED. Dr. Daneshgari
makes the connection that because erectile problems are mainly the result of
poor blood flow to the penis, food that is known to be excellent for the vascular
system is a good option to consume for men suffering from ED.
The key then is to find foods that are rich in the necessary nutrients that can boost
your vascular system right? But before looking into the food, just what nutrients
are we looking for?
1. Zinc
Zinc may be just one of the missing links in your list of nutrients to consume in
sufficient quantity. Zinc, is one of those minerals that you rarely ever hear
mentioned in the big discussions on necessary nutrients to take, but this
doesn’t mean that it is any less important than other nutrients. In fact, in this
particular case, it is probably one of the most necessary nutrients to include in
your diet.
The US National Institute of Health touts the benefits of Zinc and its use in the
human body --- Zinc is a key nutrient, required for the immune system’s defence.
The mineral plays a crucial role in cellular division, the growth of cells, and in the
hydrolysis of carbohydrates. You may be wondering how this affects ED.
Survive in Bed
49
Well, Zinc deficiency brings about several ailments which include alopecia (hair
loss) and slow healing of wounds, and depression. Yes, depression. Who knew?
One’s depression may be the result of missing a single mineral! And that
depression could be leading you to experience ED!
Maybe you do eat well, and you are now wondering why you may be facing a
Zinc deficiency. The thing with Zinc is that you may be eating foods rich in
Zinc, but the mineral is actually NOT getting absorbed by your body at all. How
does this happen? Phytic acid is needed by the body in order for Zinc to be
absorbed. But in the process of cooking food, this acid is destroyed, and as such
the body loses its ability to absorb the important Zinc it needs. So as much as
possible, eat your vegetables raw.
Where To Find Good Zinc?
Zinc is a mineral readily found in meat, liver, animal products, green vegetables
and oysters. Some of the richest sources of the mineral are pumpkin, hemp
and sesame seeds, shiitake mushrooms, cashews, pine nuts, and avocados.
Shellfish And Zinc
Seafood has for many centuries been considered an aphrodisiac by many a
culture, so it comes as little surprise that within these specialties lies a very
potent mineral much needed by the body to manufacture testosterone. Hormones
play an important role in a man’s ability to enjoy his sexual experience and low
testosterone levels have been linked to erectile dysfunction. A study presented
at the American Chemical Society conference presented the connection
between raw shellfish and getting rid of ED. Shellfish was shown to have
substances that provoke sexual hormones.
2. Nitrates
While growing up, most people disliked eating their greens and beets, but it turns
out mum was right after all. You do need all those leafy greens, you know the
kinds we are talking about right, celery and spinach. It turns out they are a great
source of nitrates. If you are wondering why nitrates are so important, just know
that they are vasodilators
--- in simple English, they dilate your blood vessels - open them up for more blood
Survive in Bed
50
flow.
Yes, and beetroot is in this equation too. Beet juice also sits on the list of high
nitrate sources.
As with most of the medicine that
has now become commercialized,
their main ingredients have been
used for a long time to treat
maladies. The same is true for
nitrates, which had been used for
many, many years prior to Viagra’s
advent in 1998. Studies had been
done demonstrating the benefits
of nitrates in treating ED. Today’s
major ingredient in most of these
pharmaceutical drugs is based on
nitrates and nitric oxides.
3. Flavonoids
Dark chocolate, yes you will be allowed to
indulge in some chocolate on your journey to
better health. Dark chocolate contains
substances called flavonoids which improve
blood circulation - this is according to a s t u d y
pub l i shed in t h e j o u r n a l ‘‘Circulation’’.
Flavonoids are antioxidants that occur
naturally and help plants protect themselves
against toxins while also playing a part in
cellular repair. In humans, flavonoids play the
same role of looking out for the organism.
Flavonoids reduce blood pressure and lower
cholesterol levels (who would have ever
imagined chocolate could be good for your
health?) which is great because blood pressure
and cholesterol are key in ED. Optimal levels of
both are best to keep ED at bay.

4. P for Pistachios
It turns out pistachios aren’t just for snack time on bar counter tops after all, but
actually serve a greater good. So the next time you are sitting at a bar and waiting
for your drink, grab a handful of pistachios!
The protein arginine in pistachios is well known for aiding blood vessels to relax
and allows more blood flow. If you want to try it out for yourself, feel free to eat
these nuts for three weeks, every day, like the men in the pistachio study who after
the three weeks reported marked changes in their sex lives. The men, some of
whom suffered from ED, reported an increase in the incidence of getting an
erection and increased sexual desire. They were all around much happier and
more satisfied.
5. Antioxidants
Antioxidants, which are also known as phyto (plant) nutrients are found in
watermelon and have been shown to have an effect worth mentioning on erectile
dysfunction. These antioxidants can boost sexual desire. A very useful benefit of
the phyto nutrients found in watermelons is its ability to cause the blood vessels
in erectile tissue to relax and allow blood to flow in and cause an erection.

a. Lycopene
Next time you or your partner go grocery shopping, make sure to include some
color from the vegetable section. After reading this you are going to want to
include some of these colorful veggies into your shopping basket.
The next phyto nutrient on our list is lycopene, an antioxidant which is found in
tomatoes and grapefruits, but these aren’t just any tomatoes or grapefruits, we
are talking about the deepest red tomatoes and the pinkest grapefruits you can
find. You will want to get these because not only is lycopene great for
circulation, but is also highly recommended for treating sexual performance
problems. Research into antioxidants shows that lycopene is one of the phyto
nutrients that fights infertility in men and cancer of the prostate too.
The best way to get lycopene absorbed into your system is to mix whatever
foods contain the antioxidant with foods rich in oils such as avocados, or make a
salad that requires you to add olive oil.

b. Salmon, Tuna, and Vitamin B
In life you really just have to eat a little bit of everything in order to get all the
needed vitamins and antioxidants your body requires to function well. One vitamin
required for general wellbeing is B3, which is sometimes referred to as niacin.
Sometimes people worry that they may not be getting all the necessary vitamins
that their body needs. It’s okay to take food supplements in order to meet your
vitamin B3 requirement. A lot of people find it easier to take a pill, although the food
benefit cannot be underplayed because when you eat real food you get much more
than just nutrients.
Niacin helps lower cholesterol levels diminish the risk of developing
cardiovascular illnesses. When used specifically to treat erectile dysfunction, the
prescribed dosage is
1500mg a day for three months.
So where else can you get niacin apart from taking food supplements? Well, the
types of foods rich in niacin are organic vegetables, meat in all its different types,
fish, poultry and eggs too.

meal plans laid out below, and follow them as they are written, then you will start
to see major changes to your ED.
As Dr. Daneshgari emphasises, there is nothing like a healthy diet for better
health and blood circulation. While on this five day plan you will have the
opportunity to give your body a break from all processed food. You will allow your
body to recover while consuming food and drinks for your circulation such as
herbal teas, fruit such as apples and cranberries, and even indulge in some red
wine. The thing with eating food great for your vascular system is that it will pay
off in helping to prevent vascular related ED.
You have nothing to lose and everything to gain by giving this five day meal plan a go.

The 5 Day Meal Plan FAQ
Q: When will I see results?
A: The recommended time frame that is five days before you can make any
assessments on progress, but this is not to say there won’t be results before the
end of the five days.
Some men in previous studies started seeing results as early as day 2.
Q: Does the order in which I eat the food specified in the meal plans matter?
A: The order is not the most important thing. The key is to consume everything
that’s given on each day’s list.
Q: Are there any dangers to my health that may be posed by this food plan?
A: The food given in all the meal plans is organic and natural, the plans are
designed to help you get the best results in as healthy a manner as possible.
However, if you have allegories, you’re more than welcome to try out foods that
have similar nutrients, minus
the allergens.
Q: Suppose I start to get erections, but perhaps they are lasting too long
and it is becoming uncomfortable, what should I do to my daily meal plan?
Should I stop it completely and start again with lower doses of the
supplements?
A: It is best to avoid abusing the usage of supplements. For L-Arginine you may
choose to continue to take pills and you can take them for up to a maximum of 6
weeks. When it comes to Propionyl-L-Carnitine, you can continue to take it but
only twice a week. If you do decide to stop taking supplements then stop the

arginine and carnitine first. If you feel the meal plan is too rigid and is putting a
strain on your body, then you may choose to omit a day and continue the next
day from where you left off.
Q: Can I simply eat the food from this meal plan and is that all I need to eat
in a day?
A: The meal plans laid out here in the 5 day meal plan guide are additions to the
food you already eat. These meal plans are not asking you to stop eating
everything and instead only eat what is stipulated here. All the meal plans are
simple additions to your
already existing meal timetable. Just make sure you avoid processed and fatty foods.
Q: Can the recipes contained in this book treat ED permanently?
A: If you keep consuming the items we have provided in this book, you will be on
your way to living a life free of ED. The recipes in this book present just how your
diet can play a part in fighting your ED. All the recipes contained here have been
specifically designed

to substitute and replace in your meal plan.
The following table will help you plan your meals as it shows you the different
foods and dietary supplements you need to have in your diet and which foods you

about them, read on below:
The best natural sweeteners are agave and honey.
Seeds are different and give different nutrients, take for example linseeds which
are one of the highest sources of omega 3, almonds which have a high calcium
content and sunflower seeds which store vitamins D & E, potassium, calcium, zinc
and iron.
If you want to make smoothies that are creamy without using dairy products,
then lecithin is what you will need.
Hailing from Tibet, Goji berries make some of the tastiest smoothies around.
These little berries are powerhouses, potent and ready to provide your body with
over 20 minerals and antioxidants.
Fruits are not just great because they contain necessary antioxidants, but because
they are also great at working as an anti-aging solution.
If you are not a fan of salmon and are looking for a quick and easy way to meet
your body’s need for omega 3, then look no further than chia seeds which are
reputed to contain omega 3 levels that supersede those of salmon. Other than
omega 3, the seeds bear a host of minerals and vitamins.

Chapter 8: Dietary Supplements
he US Food and Drug Administration defines a dietary supplement as a
product meant for ingestion that has a ‘dietary ingredient’ in it. A dietary
supplement is aimed at adding further nutritional value to one’s
current diet. Dietary
supplements fall under one of the following categories or may be a combination of
any one of the following:
A vitamin, an herb, a mineral, an amino acid, a concentrate, constituent,
metabolite or extract.
The form in which dietary supplements
come is varied and broad. Dietary
supplements may come as powders,
capsules, soft-gels, tablets, liquids or gel-
caps.
Dietary supplements serve two major
roles, and those are:
1. To make sure that you meet your
daily dietary requirements
2. To help decrease your risk of disease
Below are some dietary supplements that
may be taken to help decrease your risk of
ED and for those with ED, will help treat
the condition.
Propionyl-L-Carnitine
What is Propionyl-L-Carnitine?
The body’s main building block for bone, skin, and tissue is protein. Protein is vital
and crucial to your body. With over 10,000 different types of protein in your body
needed for effective functioning, you have to ensure an adequate supply. But
these proteins are made up of much smaller molecules known as amino acids.
These amino acids join together to form long chains that are then later referred to
as proteins.
Survive in Bed
109
There are over 500 amino acids, but the body only needs of 20 of them to create
all the protein molecules vital to the existence of life. Propionyl-L-carnitine is just
one of those amino acids that the body produces. There is an entire L-carnitine
family of amino acids e.g. L-carnitine, acetyl-L-carnitine, propionyl-L-carnitine.
They are all related but are not the same. For starters, their functions are
completely different. What is known about them is that one form can convert into
another, but what is not known is whether the benefits of one form are
interchangeable with another.
Their different uses:
Propionyl-L-carnitine is a dietary supplement that is used to treat intermittent
claudication which is also known as leg pain. Leg pain is usually the result of
poor circulation of blood in your body, a condition sometimes referred to as
peripheral vascular disease (PVD). PVD in turn is linked to diabetes or
atherosclerosis. For those suffering from congestive heart failure, Propionyl-L-
carnitine is also on their list of meds.
The link between Propionyl-L-carnitine is created where men with ED problems
linked to diabetes are prescribed this medication. Low hormone levels can
decrease libido, hence older men with low testosterone levels are sometimes
prescribed a back-to-back dosage of both propionyl-L-carnitine taken with acetyl-
carnitine.
The propionyl-L-carnitine is then administered through the use of a needle
intravenously.
The Mechanics of Propionyl-L-carnitine
In the body, this amino acid is known for aiding the production of energy. It has
other uses as well which stretch into helping with cardiac function and muscle
motion. Some studies also show that it plays a part in the circulation of blood
around the body.
Dosage & Mode of administration
Each day, you can take up to 2 grams of Propionyl-carnitine.
Survive in Bed
110
L-Arginine
Another amino acid often recommended is L-arginine, which is commonly
found in meat products and dairy. L-arginine is simple enough to be
manufactured on a large scale in a laboratory and is used in other medical fields.
L-arginine uses are vast, ranging from the treatment of congestive heart
disorders, to preventing the common cold, and even being used as an anti-
inflammatory medicine in premature babies.
L-arginine is known to generally be taken in conjunction with another prescription
medication. For example, when treating women with breast cancer, L-arginine is
taken alongside other cancer medication.
When it comes to treating ED, L-arginine is not only used for men, but also
women experiencing sexual problems. It is found in the form of creams that can be
used by both sexes.
The mechanics of L-arginine
Nitric oxide is celebrated because it causes blood vessels to relax and allows
blood to flow around the body. L-arginine works well because it is changed to nitric
oxide in the body and thus allows for improved blood flow in the erectile area.
Recommended dosage
The recommended dosage is set at 5 grams taken orally every day for up to six
weeks. This dosage is stipulated and research shows that if you take a lower
dosage, you may not see the results you are aiming for.
As you can see, dietary supplements may be useful in treating ED, but they
should be taken in conjunction with the anti-ED meal plan we have provided in
this book.

Chapter 9: Erectile Dysfunction FAQ – What You Need To Know
he normal order of things is that a man should be able to have and
maintain an erection during intercourse, but when that ability is disturbed by
reasons other than a low libido, it can create several issues in a relationship
and in the sufferer’s
life.
Is There Something Really Wrong If I Have Erectile Dysfunction?
No, you are not abnormal for not being able to maintain an erection. In fact, this
is an occurrence in more men than most people realize. Statistics by the US
National Institute of Health show that up to 6% of men aged 40 and below are
affected significantly by erectile dysfunction.
It is necessary to point out though that age is not the requisite for experiencing
erectile dysfunction. Men of all ages will at some point in their life experience the
inability to have an erection. This tends to happen once every five times a man
tries to engage in intercourse. However when a man fails almost half of the time,
this is a warning that there may be a problem that needs to be looked into closely.
Does Erectile Dysfunction Come From Genes? What Are The Causes?
No, it is not a hereditary disease. It cannot be passed on from father to son or
down the blood line. However, what can be passed down the blood line are certain
traits that can lead you to experience ED. Traits such as stress and relationship
issues can be passed from generation to generation. These are the
psychological traits that may be passed down that can cause ED. On the other
side you have diseases that can lead you to develop ED. Diseases such as
diabetes and multiple sclerosis may cause ED.
The Real Causes Of Ed?
We can categorize the causes of ED into two main classes, which are physical
Survive in Bed
112
causes and psychological causes.
Physical Reasons For Having ED
Male sexual arousal has a delicate balance and system that operates it. The
brain is linked to the nerves, which work hand in hand with the hormones.
Emotions also play a crucial part in the entire process, not to mention muscles
and blood vessels. A disturbance in any one of these can trigger a problem e.g.
atherosclerosis (this is when blood vessels become hard), chronic illness,
Peyronie’s disease (this is when the penis has suffered trauma and contains scar
tissue), high blood pressure, diabetes (60% of men with diabetes experience ED
frequently), prostate cancer treatments (radiation, chemotherapy), and more.
Medication e.g. blood pressure pills (in particular beta blockers) and some
antidepressants are also known to make it tough to have an erection.
Psychological Reasons For Having ED
When a man is under pressure to please, is facing stress, or is depressed, it
tends to be much harder for him to have an erection.
Certain medication may also be an interference with the natural order of things in
the man’s reproductive organs.
Where Should People With This Problem Seek Help?
We highly discourage self-medication because it can lead to all sorts of trouble.
You have to rely on tried and tested methods, such as those mentioned in this
book to achieve lasting success. For most people it may be nothing, but if you
find yourself failing to get hard 50% of the time, then you have to consider making
lifestyle changes provided in this book. That’s why you have to read through the
advice presented within this book carefully so you can avoid ED.
Are There Any Treatment Options?
Survive in Bed
113
Let’s face it, we live in a world where doctors love handing out drugs. Even if
your situation can be cured through natural remedies, doctors prefer giving
intrusive drugs that may fix the problem at hand, but create several more at the
backend.
You see, no medication is perfect. While certain medication is designed to fix
specific problems within your body, it’s always almost impossible to know how
other systems in your body will act or react to that medication. So while you
initially took the medication to cure problem A, you may end up with problems B,
C, and D.
The drugs on the market currently prescribed for ED are sildenafil, which is more
commonly known as Viagra and tadalafil aka Cialis and another lesser known
drug, vardenafil aka Levitra. These drugs are designed to improve blood flow and
get you to relax so you can perform your best. However, they have a long list of
side effects also.
Sex therapy is also another favored approach to dealing with impotence. Other
less favored options include penile injections, the use of vacuum pumps and the
last option for most people is surgery.
There are other more natural methods, which we have presented in this book, that
you can undertake if you do not like the idea of taking tablets with severe side
effects the rest of your life.
When the problem is psychological, counselling is generally advised.
Because of their unique dispositions, each treatment method has its own
advantages and disadvantages, which are necessary for you to weigh in and
consider before starting off on a path.
Will Medications Be Part Of My Daily Routine?
This answer depends on you. If you choose to take pills for the rest of your life,
then that will become your path. However, you don’t need to take medication for
the rest of your life because as stated already, ED can be cured through natural
remedies mentioned in this book. Also, if the stress that was causing you to have
ED is eliminated, then you will be ok. If you decide to follow the natural way laid
out in this book and the blood flow goes back to being normal, then things will go
back to normal. You won’t need to pop pills every time you need to make love.
The choice is really yours.

Is My Lifestyle Adding To The Problem?
That’s the thing with health. It’s all linked. You cannot separate one part of your life
from the rest --- since it is linked, it will affect other parts of your life. You cannot eat
badly and expect to have a healthy heart. An unhealthy heart will lead to poor
blood flow, which can in turn mean that when it’s time to enjoy sex, you cannot
get hard because your blood flow is too poor to get you stiff. Ironic isn’t it? So
yes, lifestyle choices do most certainly affect your performance. The best way is
to eat well and keep the lifestyle that we lay out for you in details in this book.
Is My Age Making Any Difference?
ED is not dependent on age, but it is a common fact that the older you are, the
lower your libido is, and the lower your chances of getting an erection are. More
than 45% of men above the age of 75 cannot maintain an erection. The same is
true for men of all ages though when it comes to treatments. Treatments are not
hampered by age, it just depends on how your body reacts to the treatment. But
one thing is for sure, you can’t go wrong with eating healthy and using the meal
plans in this book to lead a healthier life, free of ED.
Is Erectile Dysfunction The End Of The Story?
It is not uncommon to discover that erectile dysfunction is a secondary illness,
which means that it may stem from another primary illness. In these cases erectile
dysfunction acts as the result of treatment to cure the primary illness. Let’s take a
look at some of the more common diseases that are linked to erectile dysfunction:
Blood vessel disorders: Diseases that affect the arteries, veins and capillaries
are very problematic when it comes to ED because of the reduced flow of blood.
Atherosclerosis is one of the major culprits in this category of blood vessel
disorders. High blood pressure and high cholesterol also contribute significantly
to increasing the incidence of ED in overweight men.

Cancer: Prostate cancer is problematic. The cancer itself is not the major
worry and neither is it the major cause of ED. The treatment of the cancer is what
generally causes ED.
Diabetes: Medically referred to as Diabetes Mellitus, this illness can be
subdivided into two categories, Type 1 diabetes and Type II diabetes. Diabetes is
a chronic sickness that damages blood vessels and nerves in the body. High
blood sugar levels are the main cause of diabetes. When not kept in check,
diabetes can seriously affect a man’s potency.
Kidney problems: Hormones are part and parcel of the chain reaction that takes
place to arouse a man. Kidney disease may affect your hormones and the way
blood flows to your genitals and other areas of your nervous system. To make
matters worse, the medication used for kidney related issues causes ED.
Nerve and Brain disorders: If the command center is affected, then it is almost
impossible for a man to be turned on and maintain an erection. The nervous
system plays a crucial part in enabling one to have an erection. It is important to
note here that smoking, and brain related illnesses such as Alzheimer’s and nerve
related illnesses such as Parkinson’s contribute significantly to the cases of men
suffering from nerve and brain related ED.
A Detailed Approach To Potential Causes Of Erectile Dysfunction
Erectile dysfunction’s causes can also be linked to other closely related experiences:
Alcohol, Substance abuse, Tobacco: Believe it or not, alcohol and drugs DO
NOT boost your sex drive and confidence. They can actually leave you more
shattered than before. So the next time you decide to go out for drinks in a bid to
garner some confidence, just keep in mind that alcohol and drugs may actually
cause you to lose your confidence when it is time to perform.

Hormonal problems: Yes, men get hormonal too. A man’s sex drive is a careful
balance between hormones that when disturbed, can lead to a lower sex drive.
This hormonal imbalance may be attributed to tumors affecting the pituitary
gland, kidney failure, depression and medication taken to treat prostate cancer.
Penis injury: Nothing is more traumatic to a man than injury to his manhood,
literally. Any injuries associated with the pelvis and spinal cord may inadvertently
cause ED.
Prescription medication and over-the-counter medicines: Don’t just take
medication without first understanding what it is doing to your body. These are
some of the reasons why we are advocating for a safer and more natural way of
doing things. The FDA has categorized more than 190 prescription drugs that
have been linked to causing ED.
Both pharmaceutical and illegal drugs can suppress the central nervous
system, but what few are aware of is just how damaging these drugs can be to
your health. They destroy your blood vessels and are often the culprits in erectile
dysfunction cases. Although most men would never think that because this is a
little fact that is often conveniently omitted, but drugs have disastrous results
which may lead to permanent ED.
Prostate enlargement: The older you get, the larger your prostate gets. It’s part
and parcel of growing older. However this process isn’t always as smooth as it’s
meant to be, because it has been linked to ED.
Surgery: Surgery in the genital area is never a pleasant experience, and generally
when men get surgery down there, it is because of serious matters such as
cancer. Sadly not all surgeries go without glitches. Some surgeries have
casualties and those casualties come in the form of damaged erectile tissue and
nerves in and around the penis, leading to the potential inability to get an erection.

Your Lifestyle Can Definitely Influence ED
‘It’s my life!’ and ‘Don’t tell me how to live my life!’ are phrases you hear from
teenagers a lot. But subconsciously, many of us are still like children and have
had these thoughts when doctors tell us to start eating healthier and exercising.
And most times like children, we refuse to obey --- that is until it is almost too late.
There is no shred of evidence that points towards smoking being a healthy
activity. We know and yet, we still smoke. We don’t need to see another exercise
and get fit poster to know that we seriously need to do something about our
weight issues. According to WHO, most men are overweight, in fact in the US
alone the number of men estimated to be overweight is truly shocking --- 3 out of
every four men is considered obese.
To add to the daily struggle of being overweight, most men have to work
stressful corporate jobs. So with more people falling ill to stress-related issues
than ever before, should we truly be shocked that we are living in an age where
sickness seems to be the norm? With all these illnesses at our doorstep, is it
surprising to find that they are all linked to and even lead to erectile dysfunction?
Below we are going to outline and discuss some of the lifestyle choices that put
us in harms’ way.
Smoking: The hardening of the arteries, the major blood vessels carrying
oxygenated blood around the body, poses a grave challenge. Not only does this
hardening, a medical condition known as atherosclerosis, considerably reduce
the flow of blood around the body, and the penis, it also makes one feel tired
a lot more quickly and hence, diminishing the chances of a man getting an
erection.
So Is Smoking Out Of The Question?
Apart from the other health benefits, such as reduced chances of getting cancer,
quitting smoking is a surefire way to help men restore in part or in full their
manhood’s proper functioning.
Obesity: Being overweight is linked to high blood pressure, which in turn augments
the chances of a man getting a blood vessel disorder or vascular disease which
will inadvertently cause erectile dysfunction. Obesity is further aggravated when
men follow a sedentary lifestyle and don’t see the need to exercise. You may be
obese and are not sure where to start.

That’s ok. There are many tools online from body mass index calculators that can
guide you on just how much weight is healthy for you to lose, right down to calorie
counters for all your food. ED does not have to become a part of your life, you can
do something about it.
Diabetes not kept in check: ED linked to diabetes need not be a concern of
yours if you keep your diabetes in order. If you maintain a proper balanced diet and
get enough exercise while taking your prescribed diabetes medicine, then you
may be able to keep a tight lid on diabetes and not allow it to bring about
problems in your sex life. When diabetes gets out of hand, it will affect the flow of
blood and the sensitive nerves in your penis. Once this happens it will get in the
way of you enjoying your sex life when you fail to become hard.
Elevated Cholesterol: Doctors and fitness experts are always talking about the
dangers of high cholesterol and with due reason. Elevated cholesterol will start to
deposit in the linings of your blood vessels and that is the last thing you want. That
not only brings you one step closer to a heart attack, but also raises your blood
pressure. The cholesterol that has deposited itself in your arteries and veins will
reduce and narrow the passageways, blocking the normal flow of blood.
The best way to keep your cholesterol levels down is to eat healthy and exercise.
Keeping fit is vital to the overall wellbeing of your entire body and will help reduce
your risk of falling victim.
Consumption of too much Alcohol: The consumption of more than two drinks
a day is considered excessive drinking. Consuming more than two glasses of
your favorite alcoholic drink a day can lead to the diminished production of
testosterone, which can in turn lower your sex drive while also restricting the flow
of blood. This affects your ability to maintain an erection.

Use of illegal drugs: In the US and most countries around the world, the use of
marijuana and cocaine is still largely illegal. It is a well-known fact that these
narcotics are used for recreational purposes, but do you know that while you may
enjoy getting high on them, you are in fact doing more harm than good to your
own body? And by this we mean these narcotics may be causing you to become
impotent. Narcotics damage blood vessels and restrict the flow of blood to your
penis.
Anxiety & Stress: Everyone goes through stress from time to time, it’s normal.
But your lifestyle shouldn’t be one in which stress seems to be the norm. If you
find stress and anxiety being the norm, then you need to take a serious look at
your life and determine just what is causing the stress and what you can do to get
rid of it. What is making you so anxious? How can you get rid of the anxiety?
Getting rid of stress and anxiety is crucial because they may be leading you to
experience temporary spells of ED.

Vascular Diseases Linked to Erectile Dysfunction: You have three major
types of blood vessels in your body, namely arteries, veins and then the smaller
capillaries. When you’re healthy, this circulatory system functions well and blood
flows to all its destinations smoothly at normal pressure. Vascular diseases are
disorders which affect this normal flow of blood, due to damage or change to
these blood vessels.
When blood flow is restricted to major organs like the heart and brain, this may
prove disastrous. Seconds without oxygenated blood can lead to brain damage.
When it concerns your genital area, reduced blood flow can lead to ED. Your
manhood depends on an adequate supply of blood to achieve an erection and
when this supply is reduced, the corresponding output is less than satisfactory.
The statistics are real and show that as many as 70% of all ED cases may be the
result of vascular disease. The mechanics of vascular disease are simple.
Cholesterol and other fatty substances are deposited in the wall of blood
vessels, causing a buildup which restricts the flow of blood. Fortunately a good
diet and lifestyle changes towards a better and healthier life are able to reverse the
damage if one starts as early as possible.
Clogged arteries, elevated blood pressure and cholesterol levels, obesity and
diabetes are just some of the vascular illnesses that are linked to erectile
dysfunction. An if you notice, all of these illnesses can be prevented through
healthy eating and following the meal plan provided in this book.
Venous Leaking: The penis contains a rich network of blood vessels which, when
a man is aroused, relax to allow more blood to flow to the penis. This blood is
eventually
‘trapped’ in the penis, so it becomes and stays hard. When a man’s body cannot
retain
blood in the veins of his penis, this condition is known as having a venous leak.
Venous leakage is not an isolated incident. It occurs in association with
diabetes or Peyronie’s disease. Venous leakage is also associated with nerve
conditions and when a man is experiencing extreme anxiety.

What Can You Do To Possibly Avoid Erectile Dysfunction?
Reading all of this can be somewhat overwhelming, and you may be wondering if
there is a way of preventing oneself from getting or experiencing erectile
dysfunction.
The answer is yes, there is a way of preventing it if you haven’t experienced it yet.
Even if you have experienced it before, the answer is still yes, you do not need
to ever experience erectile dysfunction again.
Firstly we will address people who generally have a higher chance of developing
ED. People who fall into this category include: obese men, men with vascular
disease, men experiencing great anxiety or who work in stressful environments,
men who consume large amounts of alcohol (more than two glasses per day) and
men who use illegal drugs such as marijuana and cocaine.
We have all heard that prevention is better than cure. The best way to tackle the
sensitive subject of erectile dysfunction is to look at it straight in the eye and see
what needs to be done. We agree that taking the first step may seem like the
hardest thing, and yes it generally is, but it will be worth it.
The only way to tackle ED is by looking after your health. By looking after your
health, we mean a serious change in your lifestyle. You have to take positive
steps to get your whole life in order. This will not happen overnight so be patient
with yourself.
Here are some actionable steps you can take to start your journey to better health
and a better sex life:
Exercise
Nothing beats getting into shape. At the same time, don’t fall under the impression
that exercise along can cure ED. Exercise has to be done along with eating the
right food. Not only will it make you look excellent, but this will help fight vascular
disease such as atherosclerosis and will help stabilize your cholesterol levels.
Regular exercise will also give you an outlet for stress and release hormones you
need to relax. Exercise will also help you maintain a weight that is ideal for your
height.

Diet
With that said, the next step is to eat right. Eat balanced meals every day. Healthy
eating doesn’t have to be boring and tasteless. Yes it takes a little more effort on
your part to prepare your meals, or whoever prepares your meals, but do not
scrounge when it comes to this part of your lifestyle because what you put into
your body makes huge difference as far as ED is concerned. If you put garbage
into your body, then don’t expect your body to run like a well-oiled machine. We
have guided you through the correct diet in this book so that you can put ED
behind you forever.
Stopping Substance Abuse
It is best to stop using recreational drugs. While you may feel good temporarily
after using them, their long term effects are highly damaging. Smoking is also a
habit you must break on your journey to beating ED. You now know what
smoking does to your health and how it affects your blood vessels, so don’t be
ignorant about it anymore.
If you enjoy your alcohol, then you may have it, but in controlled amounts. For
example, where you used to have a beer every day, try and discipline yourself to
a beer over the weekends or if you are really strong, try giving it up altogether. If
you really have an alcohol problem, then consider getting help from social groups
or therapy. There is no shame in getting therapy. Remember, this is a lifestyle
change and it will not be easy, but look at it as a chance to do your life over
again, and start afresh.
Not many people get the opportunity to redo their life over again, and many people
get to the end of life and start to regret things they wish they could have done
better, and diseases they wish they could have put in more effort to fight. It is never
too late to start over.
As long as you have breath in your body, you are always capable of giving life
another shot, and as they say, it is not how you start that matters, but how you
finish that’s important. So do your best to finish strong. Do whatever you can
to make your life better. You are highly capable and stronger than you think.
There is nothing too difficult for you to achieve. With a little help from family,
friends, and this book, you will be surprised just how far you can go.
