AIMS AND OBJECTIVES
A survey was conducted between 15-19 June 2019 under Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (under MHRD)
by students of Kirori Mal College, Delhi University.
The major objectives were
1. To find number of beneficiaries of various government schemes and to find whether these
schemes are reaching common people.
2. To identify major problems of the villagers and to find solutions for the same. The villagers were
asked questions based on household survey form provided by Unnat Bharat Abhiyan.
SHAHPUR PAHASU

Shahpur Pahasu village is located in Khurja Tehsil of Bulandshahr district in Uttar Pradesh, India.
It is situated 20km away from sub-district headquarter Khurja and 40km away from district
headquarter Bulandshahr. As per 2009 stats, Shahpur Pahasu village is also a gram panchayat.
The total geographical area of village is 240.24 hectares. Shahpur Pahasu has a total population
of 1,178 peoples. There are about 183 houses in Shahpur Pahasu village .Khurja is nearest town
to Shahpur Pahasu which is approximately 20km away.

It is located 39 KM towards South from District head quarters Bulandshahr. 7 KM from Araniya.
382 KM from State capital Lucknow.Shahpur Pahasu Pin code is 203131 and postal head office
is Khurja. Kamalpur Pahasu ( 2 KM ) , Muni ( 2 KM ) , Sarsal ( 2 KM ) , Raniyavali ( 2 KM ) ,
Bhogapur ( 3 KM ) are the nearby Villages to Shahpur Pahasu. Shahpur Pahasu is surrounded
by Chandaus Block towards west, Pahasu Block towards East , Jawan Sikanderpur Block
towards East , Khurja Block towards west. Shikarpur, Bulandshahr , Aligarh , Bulandshahr ,
Naraura are the near by Cities to Shahpur Pahasu.
This Place is in the border of the Bulandshahr District and Aligarh District. Aligarh District
Chandaus is west towards this place.
A total of 138 households were surveyed in Shahpur Pahasu.
KEY FINDINGS
1. Average Income of household turned out to be Rs 35,720 per year.
2. Out of 138 Household surveyed 81 belonged to general category, 37 belonged to Schedule
Caste, 19 belonged to OBC and only 1 belonged to Schedule Tribe.
3. Major health problems include Respiratory problems, Blood Pressure, Arthritis, Piles and
Tuberculosis.
MILK ANALYSER (FAT MEASURING MACHINE) IN SHAHPUR PAHASU. VILLAGERS COME
HERE TO BUY AND SELL MILK ON THE BASIS OF FAT CONTENT IN MILK. 7.9% FAT CAN
FETCH AROUND RS 43 PER LITRE.

4. Major occupation include Farming and Unskilled manual labour. Only 14 people migrate to
cities (Delhi, Gurgaon, Noida, Ghaziabad) in search of jobs. They stayed outside for an
average of 10 Months per Year.
5. Out of 136 households 60 lived in Pucca houses, 41 in Semi Pucca houses, 31 in kutcha
houses and 4 were Homeless.
6. Out of 138 households 90 had private toilet, 45 defecated in open and 3 went to their
neighbour’s toilet.

RUDRI
Rudri is a medium size village located in Khurja Tehsil of Bulandshahar district, Uttar Pradesh
with total 127 families residing. The Rudri village has population of 760 of which 411 are males
while 349 are females as per Population Census 2011. In Rudri village population of children with
age 0-6 is 102 which makes up 13.42 % of total population of village. Average Sex Ratio of Rudri
village is 849 which is lower than Uttar Pradesh state average of 912. Child Sex Ratio for the
Rudri as per census is 821, lower than Uttar Pradesh average of 902.
Rudri village has higher literacy rate compared to Uttar Pradesh. In 2011, literacy rate of Rudri
village was 78.88 % compared to 67.68 % of Uttar Pradesh. In Rudri Male literacy stands at
92.11 % while female literacy rate was 63.37 %.
As per constitution of India and Panchyati Raaj Act, Rudri village is administrated by Sarpanch
(Head of Village) who is elected representative of village.
VILLAGERS OFFERED TEA AFTER A HECTIC DAY OF SURVEY IN RUDRI.
A total of 68 households were surveyed in Rudri.

1. Average Income of household turned out to be Rs 38,313 per year.
2. Major health problems include Respiratory problems, Blood Pressure, Arthritis, Piles and
Tuberculosis.
3. Major occupation include Farming and Unskilled manual labour. Only 9 people migrate to
cities (Delhi, Gurgaon, Noida, Ghaziabad) in search of jobs. They stayed outside for an
average of 10 Months per Year.
4. Out of 67 households 42 lived in Pucca houses, 13 in Semi Pucca houses, 11 in kutcha houses
and 1 were Homeless.

Bhogapur village is located in Khurja Tehsil of Bulandshahr district in Uttar Pradesh, India. It is
situated 22km away from sub-district headquarter Khurja and 42km away from district
headquarter Bulandshahr. As per 2009 stats, Bhogapur village is also a gram panchayat.
The total geographical area of village is 641.68 hectares. Bhogapur has a total population of
1,482 peoples. There are about 245 houses in Bhogapur village. Khurja is nearest town to
Bhogapur which is approximately 22km away.

1. Average Income of household turned out to be Rs 33,125 per year.
2. Major health problems include Respiratory problems, Blood Pressure, Arthritis, Piles and
Tuberculosis.
3. Major occupation include Farming and Unskilled manual labour. Only 12 people migrate to
cities (Delhi, Gurgaon, Noida, Ghaziabad) in search of jobs. They stayed outside for an
average of 10 Months per Year.
4. Out of 88 households 42 lived in Pucca houses, 20 in Semi Pucca houses, 25 in Kutcha houses
and 1 were Homeless.
5. Out of 88 houses 53 have electricity connection.
6. Out of 88 houses 73 have either private or public handpumps.
7. Out of 88 houses 51 posses livestocks.
8. Major problems of the village include
a. Crops being destroyed by stray animals like cow, wild pigs, nilgai etc
b. No oldage pension
c. No work under MGNREGA
d. Drainage issue and water logging issue

VILLAGERS IN BHOGAPUR STAY AWAKE WHOLE NIGHT IN FIELDS IN ORDER TO PROTECT
THEIR CROPS FROM STRAY CATTLES, WILD PIGS,NILGAI ETC. THEY ALSO HAD TO FENCE
THEIR FIELDS WITH WHATEVER THEY CAN AFFORD( SOMETIMES WIRES SOMETIMES
EVEN OLD SAREES). THE CONDITION HAS WORSENED IN LAST FIVE YEARS. BECAUSE OF
THIS MENACE THEIR AGRICULTURE INPUT COST HAS INCREASED FURTHER
AGGRAVATING THEIR CRITICAL SITUATION. EVEN THOUGH SOME VILLAGERS HAVE
DONE INSURANCE OF THEIR CROPS BUT THEY HARDLY GET ANY BENEFIT.
Narayanpur
Narayanpur village is located in Khurja Tehsil of Bulandshahr district in Uttar Pradesh, India. It is situated 22 km away from sub-district headquarter Khurja and 42km away from district headquarter Bulandshahr. As per 2009 stats, Kamalpur Pahasu is the gram panchayat of Narayanpur village.
The total geographical area of village is 110.23 hectares. Narayanpur has a total population of 808 peoples. There are about 121 houses in Narayanpur village. Khurja is nearest town to Narayanpur which is approximately 22km away.

A PRIMARY HEALTH CENTRE IN NARAYANPUR VILLAGE. VILLAGERS COMPLAINED THAT THIS
CENTRE IS LOCKED SINCE MANY YEARS. THEY HAVE TO TRAVEL 7-8 KM TO ACCESS SIMPLE
MEDICATIONS.

LISTENING TO GRIEVANCES OF VILLAGERS IN NARAYANPUR. VILLAGERS ACTIVELY PARTICIPATED IN
WHOLE PROCESS.
Major Problems of The Surveyed Village (Narayanpur)
Open Drainage: -During Survey the team observed that most of the drainage is open and it
might be causing water born disease. Water logging is also a major issue of this village.
Kuccha house: - so many houses in this village found Kuccha which is prone to so many living
problems.
No Ration Card: Many household did not have any ration card thus leaving them deprived of
many benefits.
Lack of Old age pension is still a major problem in narayanpur village for senior citizens.
