• The majority of replies were from females aged 17 or younger, therefore these results will help me to target a young female audience.

• Most people did not frequently buy a magazine, and those who did bought it every 2 weeks, monthly, or when the magazine had something in that attracted them. Magazine buyers liked gossip magazines and music magazines like KERRANG! were popular. My magazine will be fortnightly as that is typical of a music magazine and people responded to the survey saying that they would buy a magazine that often.

• The most popular music genre was alternative so in my magazine I will make sure to include artists that fit the style of that genre to encourage people to buy my magazine.

• Responses highlighted how exclusive interviews, free items, competitions, reviews, posters, and top songs are enjoyed by a young female audience, and I will therefore feature these in my magazine to encourage an audience.

• Many people responded saying they wanted more focus on music than gossip so that is my aim in the production of my magazine.

Conclusion

• The results I obtained from my Survey Monkey have allowed me to understand what I can do to reach my target audience. It has helped with my creative decisions, for example the inclusion of a cover line similar to “Top 100 songs of the decade” as this was a popular response so therefore is likely to attract an audience and be included in the first issue of the magazine.
