1.0 STATEMENT OF APPLICABILITY
1.1 The purpose of this instruction is to demonstrate that the
essential raw cooling water pumps are OPERABLE. Their operability
is determined by verifying that the sum of the flow rates obtained
from the measured pump differential pressure and the verified
pump curve in Appendix A is equal to the sum of the flow rates in
the headers being used.
1.2 For operation in Modes 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 each essential raw
-cooling water pump shall be demonstrated operable once per month
in accordance with Surveillance Requirement 4.0.5 and the ASME
Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, Section XI, Edition and Addenda
later.
This instruction satisfies Surveillance Requirement 4.0.5 for these
pumps.
NOTE: For operation in modes 1, 2,
shall be operable. In modes

5.0 INSTRUCTIONS
NOTE: This procedure is written for testing any number of pumpsoperating on the same train.
5.1 Note on the data sheet the ERCW pumps that are running and supplying
the same train by crossing out the identification letters of thepump (s) not running.
5.2 Verify on data sheet that the diesel generator heat exchanger
valves are closed.
5.3 Record the flow rate of each discharge header being supplied
by the pumps on data sheet.
5.4 Add the header discharge flow rates and record on data sheet.
5.5 Obtain the latest river level from Watts Bar Hydro 365-6300 orPax 217-2111.and record on-data sheet.
5.6 Calculate the ERCW pump suction pressure on data sheet.
5.7 Record the discharge pressure of each pump being tested on datasheet.
5.8 Compute the differential pressure across each pump and record on
data sheet.
5.9 Using the differential pressure from Step 5.8 and the curve inAppendix B for each specific pump, find the flow rate in gpm andrecord on data sheet.
5.10 Add the pump flow rates from 5.9.
5.11 Determine the difference between the pump flow rates in step 5.4
Step 5.10.
5.12 Verify on data sheet that the difference in the pump flow rates meet
the acceptance criteria of 6.0. I5.13 If pumps other than those running are to be tested, transfer the
running pump (s) with those not running per SOI-67. Insure that therequired number of pumps for the heat load are operating at alltimes. Repeat Steps 5.1 through 5.12 for the remaining pumps in'the train until all have been tested. Record the values for each
tested configuration on a separate data sheet.
5.14 If any value is not within the acceptable range specified in Section0'- re check-caic u Iations -then notify the shift'enginar. .

6.0 ACCEPTANCE CRITERIA
6.1 If the value obtained from the intersection of the pump differential
pressure and the pump flow rate falls within the "alert band" on the
curve in Appendix B, the frequency of testing will be increased to
twice a month until the cause of deviation is determined and corrected
and either the existing reference values verified or a new set established.
6.2 If the value at the intersection of the values is in the "Required
Action" range, the pump shall be declared inoperative and not
returned to service until the condition has been corrected.

APPENDIX A
I. PURPOSE
I.1 The purpose of this appendix is to establish a procedure forverifying a point on the pump curve for an inoperable pumpfollowing maintenance which would affect pump performance.Since the pump cannot be tested individually, the test isperformed by obtaining the flow rate of the operable pump (s)from the pump curve and subtracting it from the total measuredflow rate of the headers. The resulting flow rate for theinoperable pump is used to deuermine the differential pressurefrom the pump curve. The measured differential pressure ofthe ihoperable pump is then compaired to the value from the pumpcurve to determine whether the pump performance is now satisfactory.
II. PROCEDURE
II.1 Determine from QA records that the pump (s) chosen to be testedwith the inoperable pimp is operable per Surveillance Instruction4.0.5.67.p. Verify on Data Sheet A.
11.2 Verify on Data Sheet A that the diesel generator heat exchangervalves are closed.
11.3 Transfer one running pump with the inoperable pump per SOI 67.Insure that the required number of pumps for the loop are
operating at all times.
11.4 Record the flow rate of each discharge header being supplied bythe pumps on Data Sheet A.
11.5 Add the header discharge flow rates and record on Data Sheet A.
11.6- Obtain the latest river level from Watts Bar Hydro 365-6300 orPax 217-2111 and record on Data Sheet A.
11.7 Calculate the ERCW pump suction pressure on Data Sheet A.
11.8 Record the discharge pressure of each pump being tested onData Sheet A.
11.9 Compute the differential pressure across the operable pump (s)and record on Data Sheet A.
II.I0_ Using the differential pressure from Ste 11.9 and the curve inAppendix B, find the flow rate in gpm -for. the operable pump (s)
and record on Data Sheet A.

II. PROCEDURE (Continued)
II.11 Add the flow rates obtained in Step II.10 and record on Data
Sheet A.
11.12 Subtract the total flow rate (Step II.11) from the total header
discharge flow rate (Step 11.5) and record on Data Sheet A.
11.13 Using the flow rate from Step 11.12 and the curve in Appendix B
find the differential pressure and record on Data Sheet A.
11.14 Compute the differential pressure across the inoperable pump
from Steps 11.7 and 11.8.
11.15 Determine the difference between the inoperable pump differential
pressures from Step 11.13 and 11.14.
11.16 Verify that the pump meets the Acceptance Criteria of III and is
now operable.
11.17 If the pump does not meet the acceptance criteria, recheck
calculations then notify the shift engineer.
III. ACCEPTANCE CRITERIA
III.1 The actual pump differential pressure and the differential
pressure determined from the curve in Appendix B shall be
equal + (later).
