Road Traffic dominant noise source – light but constant, consisted of motorbikes, vans, delivery lorries etc… Car horns & revving engines, occasional car/motorbike alarm audible. Road = 1-way. Pay & display parking and double yellows. Although the kit was positioned on a double yellow section of road, delivery vans and cars frequently parked in front of the meter to unload. Construction noise audible in lulls of road traffic. Noise from Coffee Republic. A high percentage of pedestrians walking past several shouted into microphone, several tapped the windshield. Surrounding Buildings = up to 6 stories, consisted of residential(?), offices, cafes, restaurants. A park is situated in the centre of the square. The kit was attached to a lamp post directly outside Coffee Republic, 3.5m from the nearest façade, the microphone was located 1.2m from the ground. Façade Location? NO

Deliveries were made continuously throughout the monitoring period, vans and lorries passed close to the microphone position. Pedestrian activity – light. Road traffic from Charring Cross Rd audible. The monitoring location overlooks the hotel car park (approximately 14-storeys below) and Hyde Park to the right. Façade Location? There is AC plant located on the top floor and roof of the hotel and car park below and on the rooftops of surrounding buildings. Emergency sirens also audible. Description of Site and Noise Environment (Location of Equipment, Notes on General Surroundings and Principal Noise Sources etc) On the edge of the pavement towards the end of street close to Westbourne terrace. Mounted on tripod 1.5m high. Houses are mainly 4/5 storeys high. Westbourne court apartments opposite circa 8 storeys. Local road traffic dominant – Westbourne terrace is very busy road, from which many cars turn into Orsett terrace. Road traffic consists mainly of cars and delivery vans and a few lorries. Engine acceleration is often heard from vehicles doing U-turns on Westbourne terrace. Pedestrian activity – light.
