Industrial Tour

The students of MBA visited Mysore, Madikeri and Coorg as part of the Industrial tour. The students visited Mysore silk factory, Karnataka soaps and detergents limited, and other historical places. Professionals from the company interacted with the students and addressed them on various facets of the business. The students were exposed to the corporate way of functioning.

Self Introduction: A session on self introduction was conducted for MBA students at the campus. Faculties and corporate professionals shared their insights and stressed on the importance of creating first impression. Individual feedback was given to the students and they were also encouraged to improve their communication skills and confidence.

Team Building: A session on working in a team and its importance for the individual and organization was held at the campus. Students were stressed on how teamwork brings out the best performance and synergy. Leadership and management games were conducted to drive the point.

Session on lateral thinking and creativity: Faculties of MBA shared some of the key creative thinking skills for businesses in a highly interactive and volatile environment. Today, industries need more and more creative solutions to existing problems. A practical session, to demonstrate the importance of creativity was organized.

2) Prof. Shashidhar Mahantshetti, Prof. Smita M. Chanabasappagol, Miss. Rukhsar M. Shaikh published a paper in

Perception with Respect to Compensation Structure: A Study of Workmen in Manufacturing Industries in North

Karnataka in International Journal of management and social sciences.

on 11th May 2017.

and custom made rubber gripped wheels, controlled by Double pole double throw switch(DPDT) and current

supply required of 7.2 Amp max and 12v-24v variable voltage .

Mrs. Seema Sali, Curator at Advanced Technology Solutions visited our department and addressed our students regarding Xcelarator Platform. Xcelarator Platform connects students to industry via projects and mentors. The registration is free of cost and all students can register, take up projects listed on the platform and work with the industry mentors. She also expressed the ease of using the platform and its uses to carry out innovative projects in the field of Civil Engineering.

Students visited Belagavi Water Treatment Plant in Laxmi Tek. Students understood the practical aspects of the process

of water treatment. The Plant Engineer at Laxmi Tek explained about the various processes involved in the water

treatment like Sedimentation, Aeration, Filtration, Disinfection, etc.,

“Vencer 2017”, A Techno Management Cultural Fiesta was organized by AITM, Belagavi on 21st and 22nd April.

Students and staff from the Department of Civil Engineering organized various technical and non technical events during

the same. Technical events like technical quiz, survey hunt, bridge modeling, paper presentation, etc., and non technical

events like super minute, tug of war, etc., grabbed the attention of students. Students from other Engineering colleges

also participated in the events.

Staff Achievements

Prof. Pradeep N.V., attended a one week Short Term Training Program “Advanced Wastewater Treatment” at Indian

Institute of Technology, Madras. The Program dealt with various aspects of new and advanced methods of handling

toxic and highly polluted wastewater from various industries. The scope of Biogas production from organic wastewater

was highlighted in the sessions. Prof. Pradeep N.V., had a chance to summarize the session details and shared his views

with the participants.

1. Students of 8th sem Vinayakraddi B, Sagar Satwar, Triveni Waghamode, Manojkumar V presented a poster titled

“Evaluation of BENNEHALLA Near Kurgeri stretch- a case study” at International Conference of Environmental and

Hydraulic Systems at KLE‟s MSS College of Engineering and Technology, Belagavi.

2. Mr. Manjunath M. has secured 3rd rank for the course of M.Tech. among Scheduled Caste Candidates for the academic

year 2015-16 of Visvesvarya Technological University, Belagavi.

3. Two B.E. Projects have been sanctioned funds from KSCST, under 40th series of Students Project Programme: 2016 –

2017. Evaluation of the sponsored projects was done at S.G. Balekundri Institute of Technology, Belagavi on 31st

May 2017.

Mr. Aditya A Shinge, 8th sem student presenting the details of the project progress during the evaluation. The title of

the work is “Design of Desilting chamber at Rakkasakoppa dam – Belagavi” under the guidance of Prof.Noorahmed

Hosamani. KSCST has sanctioned an amount of Rs. 6000 for this project.

Mr. Kiran Patil and team exhibited the project reactor during the evaluation process. The title of the work is “Study

on Treatment of Municipal Solid Waste land fill leachate using up-flow reactors with low cost waste adsorbent

materials” under the guidance of Dr. B.T.Suresh Babu. KSCST has sanctioned an amount of Rs. 6000 for this project.

4. Five Student teams from 6th sem B.E. and 2nd sem M.Tech. have submitted Carbon Zero Challenge Projects to Indian

Institute of Technology, Madras under the Guidance of Prof. Pradeep N V. These projects have innovative ideas to

reduce carbon foot print. Following are the details of the projects submitted:

1. Department of Computer Science and Engineering organized a one day workshop on PYTHON programming

Language on 7th April 2017 for 6th and 8th semester students of CSE, AITM. The Chief Guest and Resource

person was Mr. Kushal Bhangi, Team Lead TCS, Bangalore. In the inauguration function Principal, Dr. Sanjay

Pujari welcomed the resource person and in his presidential remarks Sir motivated the students and highlighted

the importance of Python programming language and advised the students to make best use of the resource

person.

Prof. Sagar Birje, HOD CSE delivered the vote of thanks. All the staff members of CS were present for the

workshop. The event was successfully organized by Prof. Basavaraj.K.M.

During the workshop the students had Hands-on experience of working on Python Programming

Language. Learning Python was advantageous to students as Python syntax is easy to learn, so both non-

programmers and programmers can start programming right away. Python is both free and open-source. Python

has been an important part of Google since the beginning, and remains so as the system grows and evolves.

Today dozens of Google engineers use Python.
